Proverbi 27

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Non ti dar vanto del domani, perchè non sai quel che nascerà il giorno appresso.	1 Do not congratulate yourself about tomorrow, since you do not know what today wil bring forth.
2 Ti lodi un altro e non la tua bocca; un estraneo e non le tue labbra.	2 Let someone else sing your praises, but not your own mouth, a stranger, but not your own lips.
3 Grave è la pietra e pesante la sabbia, ma l'ira dello stolto è più grave di tutte e due.	3 Heavy is the stone, weighty is the sand; heavier than both -- a grudge borne by a fool.
4 L'ira non ha misericordia nè il furore impetuoso, e chi potrà reggere all'impeto d'un uomo concitato?	4 Cruel is wrath, overwhelming is anger; but jealousy, who can withstand that?
5 È meglio un'aperta riprensioneche un amore dissimulato.	5 Better open reproof than feigned love.
6 Meglio le percosse di chi ti vuol beneche i falsi baci di chi ti vuol male.	6 Trustworthy are blows from a friend, deceitful are kisses from a foe.
7 L'anima sazia si metterà sotto i piedi il favo del miele, ma l'anima che ha fame troverà dolce anche l'amaro.	7 The gorged throat revolts at honey, the hungry throat finds al bitterness sweet.
8 Come l'uccello che migra dal suo nido, così l'uomo che abbandona il suo luogo.	8 Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is anyone who strays away from home.
9 D'unguento e di vari profumi si rallegra il cuore, e dei buoni consigli dell'amico l'anima si sente raddolcire.	9 Oil and perfume gladden the heart, and the sweetness of friendship rather than self-reliance.
10 Il tuo amico e l'amico di tuo padre non lo lasciare; e nel dì della tua disgrazia, non entrare nella casa del fratello. Meglio un vicino accanto, che un fratello lontano.	10 Do not give up your friend or your father's friend; when trouble comes, do not go off to your brother'shouse, better a near neighbour than a distant brother.
11 Applicati alla sapienza, figlio mio, e rallegrami il cuore, affinchè tu abbia una parola da rispondere a chi ci voglia screditare.	11 Learn to be wise, my child, and gladden my heart, that I may have an answer for anyone who insultsme.
12 L'uomo accorto, vedendo il male, si mise al riparo; gl'incauti, passando oltre, pagarono il fio.	12 The discreet sees danger and takes shelter, simpletons go ahead and pay the penalty.
13 Prendi il mantello a colui che ha fatto sicurtà per uno straniero, ed a conto degli estranei fatti consegnare il pegno.	13 Take the man's clothes! He has gone surety for a stranger. Take a pledge from him, for personsunknown.
14 Chi benedice il suo prossimo a gran voce alzandosi al mattino, sarà simile a chi lo maledice.	14 Whoever at dawn loudly blesses his neighbour -- it will be reckoned to him as a curse.
15 Tetto gocciolante in una giornata piovosa e donna rissosa, si rassomigliano:	15 The dripping of a gutter on a rainy day and a quarrelsome woman are alike;
16 chi pretende tenerla è come chi voglia tener il vento, l'olio della propria destra egli chiama.	16 whoever can restrain her, can restrain the wind, and take a firm hold on grease.
17 Il ferro col ferro s'aguzza, e un uomo aguzza l'ingegno all'altro.	17 Iron is sharpened by iron, one person is sharpened by contact with another.
18 Chi fa la guardia al fico mangerà del suo frutto, e chi ha cura del suo padrone sarà onorato.	18 Whoever tends the fig tree eats its figs, whoever looks after his master wil be honoured.
19 Come nell'acqua sono visibili i visi di quelli che vi si specchiano, così i cuori degli uomini sono visibili ai prudenti.	19 As water reflects face back to face, so one human heart reflects another.
20 L'Inferno e la Perdizione non si saziano mai, così anche gli occhi degli uomini, non si saziano mai.	20 Sheol and Perdition are never satisfied, insatiable, too, are human eyes.
21 Come nel crogiolo si prova l'argento e nel fornello l'oro, così l'uomo si prova per la bocca di chi lo loda. Il cuore dell'iniquo ricerca il male, il cuor retto ricerca la scienza.	21 A furnace for silver, a foundry for gold: a person is worth what his reputation is worth.
22 Ancorchè tu pestassi lo stolto nel mortaio, come l'orzo battendo sopra col pestello, non gli si leverà la sua stoltezza.	22 Pound a fool in a mortar, among grain with a pestle, his fol y wil not leave him.
23 Infòrmati bene dello stato del tuo bestiame, ed abbi cura assidua delle tue greggi,	23 Know your flocks' condition well, take good care of your herds;
24 perchè non avrai sempre il potere, ma la corona passerà da generazione a generazione.	24 for riches do not last for ever, crowns do not hand themselves on from age to age.
25 I prati sono in fiore e vestiti d'erbe verdeggianti; già si sono raccolti i fieni al monte.	25 The grass once gone, the aftergrowth appearing, the hay gathered in from the mountains,
26 Hai gli agnelli pel tuo vestito, e i capretti quale equivalente d'un podere:	26 you should have lambs to clothe you, goats to buy you a field,
27 accontentati del latte delle capre per tuo cibo, per il sostentamento di casa tua, e pel vitto delle tue ancelle.	27 goat's milk sufficient to feed you, to feed your household and provide for your serving girls.
