Proverbs 14

1 A wise woman builds up her household. But a foolish one will pull down with her own hands what has been built up.	1 Αι σοφαι γυναικες οικοδομουσι τον οικον αυτων? η δε αφρων κατασκαπτει αυτον δια των χειρων αυτης.
2 One who walks on a virtuous journey, and who fears God, is despised by him who advances along a disreputable way.	2 Ο περιπατων εν τη ευθυτητι αυτου φοβειται τον Κυριον? ο δε σκολιος τας οδους αυτου καταφρονει αυτον.
3 In the mouth of the foolish, there is a rod of arrogance. But the lips of the wise guard them.	3 Εν στοματι αφρονος ειναι η ραβδος της υπερηφανιας? τα δε χειλη των σοφων θελουσι φυλαττει αυτους.
4 Where there are no oxen, the feeding trough is empty. But where there are many crops, there the strength of the ox is manifest.	4 Οπου δεν ειναι βοες, η αποθηκη ειναι κενη? η δε αφθονια των γεννηματων ειναι εκ της δυναμεως του βοος.
5 A faithful witness will not lie. But a deceitful witness offers a lie.	5 Ο αληθης μαρτυς δεν θελει ψευδεσθαι? ο δε ψευδης μαρτυς εκχεει ψευδη.
6 A mocker seeks wisdom and does not find it. The doctrine of the prudent is accessible.	6 Ο χλευαστης ζητει σοφιαν και δεν ευρισκει? εις δε τον συνετον ειναι ευκολος η μαθησις.
7 Go against a foolish man, and he does not acknowledge lips of prudence.	7 Υπαγε κατεναντι του αφρονος ανθρωπου και δεν θελεις ευρει χειλη συνεσεως.
8 The wisdom of a discerning man is to understand his way. And the imprudence of the foolish is to be wandering astray.	8 Η σοφια του φρονιμου ειναι να γνωριζη την οδον αυτου? η δε μωρια των αφρονων αποπλανησις.
9 The foolish will speak mockingly of sin. But grace lingers among the just.	9 Οι αφρονες γελωσιν εις την ανομιαν? εν μεσω δε των ευθεων ειναι χαρις.
10 The heart that knows the bitterness of its own soul, in its gladness the outsider shall not meddle.	10 Η καρδια του ανθρωπου γνωριζει την πικριαν της ψυχης αυτου? και ξενος δεν συμμετεχει της χαρας αυτης.
11 The house of the impious will be wiped away. Yet truly, the tabernacles of the just shall spring forth.	11 Η οικια των ασεβων θελει αφανισθη? η δε σκηνη των ευθεων θελει ανθει.
12 There is a way which seems just to a man, but its conclusion leads to death.	12 Υπαρχει οδος, ητις φαινεται ορθη εις τον ανθρωπον, αλλα τα τελη αυτης φερουσιν εις θανατον.
13 Laughter shall be mingled with sorrow, and mourning occupies the limits of joy.	13 Ετι και εις τον γελωτα πονει η καρδια? και το τελος της χαρας ειναι λυπη.
14 The foolish will be filled up by his own ways. And the good man shall be above him.	14 Ο διεφθαρμενος την καρδιαν θελει εμπλησθη απο των οδων αυτου? ο δε αγαθος ανθρωπος αφ' εαυτου.
15 The innocent trust every word. The astute one considers his own steps. Nothing good will be for the deceitful son. But the wise servant shall act prosperously and his way will be set in order.	15 Ο απλους πιστευει εις παντα λογον? ο δε φρονιμος προσεχει εις τα βηματα αυτου.
16 The wise fear, and so turn away from evil. The foolish leap ahead with confidence.	16 Ο σοφος φοβειται και φευγει απο του κακου? αλλ' ο αφρων προχωρει και θρασυνεται.
17 The impatient will work foolishness. And a resourceful man is hated.	17 Ο οξυθυμος πραττει αστοχαστως? και ο κακοβουλος ανθρωπος ειναι μισητος.
18 The childish will possess foolishness, and the discerning will anticipate knowledge.	18 Οι αφρονες κληρονομουσι μωριαν? οι δε φρονιμοι στεφανουνται συνεσιν.
19 The evil will fall down before the good. And the impious will fall down before the gates of the just.	19 Οι κακοι υποκλινουσιν εμπροσθεν των αγαθων, και οι ασεβεις εις τας πυλας των δικαιων.
20 The pauper will be hated, even by his own neighbor. Yet truly, the friends of the wealthy are many.	20 Ο πτωχος μισειται και υπο του πλησιον αυτου? του δε πλουσιου οι φιλοι πολλοι.
21 Whoever despises his neighbor, sins. But whoever pities the poor shall be blessed. Whoever trusts in the Lord loves mercy.	21 Ο καταφρονων τον πλησιον αυτου αμαρτανει? ο δε ελεων τους πτωχους ειναι μακαριος.
22 They wander astray who work evil. But mercy and truth prepare good things.	22 Δεν πλανωνται οι βουλευομενοι κακον; ελεος ομως και αληθεια θελει εισθαι εις τους βουλευομενους αγαθον.
23 In every work, there shall be abundance. But where there are many words, there is often need.	23 Εν παντι κοπω υπαρχει κερδος? η δε φλυαρια των χειλεων φερει μονον εις ενδειαν.
24 The crown of the wise is their wealth. The senselessness of the foolish is imprudence.	24 Τα πλουτη των σοφων ειναι στεφανος εις αυτους? των δε αφρονων η υπεροχη μωρια.
25 A faithful witness frees souls. And the chameleon utters lies.	25 Ο αληθης μαρτυς ελευθερονει ψυχας? ο δε δολιος εκχεει ψευδη.
26 In the fear of the Lord is the faithfulness of strength, and there shall be hope for his sons.	26 Εν τω φοβω του Κυριου ειναι ελπις ισχυρα? και εις τα τεκνα αυτου θελει υπαρχει καταφυγιον.
27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, so as to turn aside from the ruin of death.	27 Ο φοβος του Κυριου ειναι πηγη ζωης, απομακρυνων απο παγιδων θανατου.
28 In a multitude of people, there is dignity for the king. And in a paucity of people, there is disgrace for the prince.	28 Εν τω πληθει του λαου ειναι η δοξα του βασιλεως? εν δε τη ελλειψει του λαου ο αφανισμος του ηγεμονευοντος.
29 Whoever is patient is governed by much prudence. But whoever is impatient exalts his foolishness.	29 Ο μακροθυμος εχει μεγαλην φρονησιν? ο δε οξυθυμος ανεγειρει την αφροσυνην αυτου.
30 The well-being of the heart is life for the flesh. But envy is decay for the bones.	30 Η υγιαινουσα καρδια ειναι ζωη της σαρκος? ο δε φθονος σαπρια των οστεων.
31 Whoever slanders the indigent argues against his Maker. But he who has compassion on the poor honors his Maker.	31 Ο καταθλιβων τον πενητα ονειδιζει τον Ποιητην αυτου? ο δε τιμων αυτον ελεει τον πτωχον.
32 The impious will be expelled in his malice. But the just finds hope even in his own death.	32 Ο ασεβης εκτινασσεται εν τη ασεβεια αυτου? ο δε δικαιος και εν τω θανατω αυτου εχει ελπιδα.
33 In the heart of the prudent, wisdom finds rest. And so shall he instruct all the uneducated.	33 Εν τη καρδια του συνετου επαναπαυεται σοφια? εν μεσω δε των αφρονων φανερουται.
34 Justice elevates a nation. But sin makes the peoples miserable.	34 Η δικαιοσυνη υψονει εθνος? η δε αμαρτια ειναι ονειδος λαων.
35 An intelligent minister is acceptable to the king. Whoever is useless shall bear his wrath.	35 Ευνοια του βασιλεως ειναι προς φρονιμον δουλον? θυμος δε αυτου προς τον προξενουντα αισχυνην.
