Proverbs 27

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Do not congratulate yourself about tomorrow, since you do not know what today wil bring forth.	1 No te gloríes del día de mañana, porque no sabes lo que depara cada día.
2 Let someone else sing your praises, but not your own mouth, a stranger, but not your own lips.	2 Que te alabe otro, no tu boca, que sea un extraño, no tus propios labios.
3 Heavy is the stone, weighty is the sand; heavier than both -- a grudge borne by a fool.	3 Pesada es la piedra y también la arena, pero más pesado aún es el despecho de un necio.
4 Cruel is wrath, overwhelming is anger; but jealousy, who can withstand that?	4 Cruel es el furor, agua desbordada la ira, pero ¿quién resistirá a los celos?
5 Better open reproof than feigned love.	5 Más vale una reprensión abierta que un cariño disimulado.
6 Trustworthy are blows from a friend, deceitful are kisses from a foe.	6 Leal es la herida que inflige el amigo, engañosa los besos del enemigo.
7 The gorged throat revolts at honey, the hungry throat finds al bitterness sweet.	7 El hombre satisfecho pisotea un panal de miel, para el hambriento, hasta lo amargo es dulce.
8 Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is anyone who strays away from home.	8 Como pájaro que anda lejos de su nido, así es el hombre que anda lejos de su hogar.
9 Oil and perfume gladden the heart, and the sweetness of friendship rather than self-reliance.	9 El aceite perfumado alegra el corazón, y la dulzura de un amigo, más que el propio consejo.
10 Do not give up your friend or your father's friend; when trouble comes, do not go off to your brother'shouse, better a near neighbour than a distant brother.	10 No abandones a tu amigo ni al amigo de tu padre, ni acudas a tu hermano en el día del infortunio: más vale vecino cerca que hermano lejos.
11 Learn to be wise, my child, and gladden my heart, that I may have an answer for anyone who insultsme.	11 Sé sabio, hijo mío, alegra mi corazón, y podré replicar al que me denigra.
12 The discreet sees danger and takes shelter, simpletons go ahead and pay the penalty.	12 El hombre precavido ve el mal y se esconde, los incautos siguen adelante y la pagan.
13 Take the man's clothes! He has gone surety for a stranger. Take a pledge from him, for personsunknown.	13 Toma su ropa, porque salió fiador de otro, tómalo a él como prenda, porque dio su aval a gente extraña.
14 Whoever at dawn loudly blesses his neighbour -- it will be reckoned to him as a curse.	14 Saludar al prójimo en alta voz, de madrugada, es tenido en cuenta como una maldición.
15 The dripping of a gutter on a rainy day and a quarrelsome woman are alike;	15 Gotera incesante en día de lluvia y mujer pendenciera, se asemejan:
16 whoever can restrain her, can restrain the wind, and take a firm hold on grease.	16 querer frenarla es como frenar el viento o recoger aceite con la mano.
17 Iron is sharpened by iron, one person is sharpened by contact with another.	17 El hierro se afila con el hierro, y el hombre en el trato con el prójimo.
18 Whoever tends the fig tree eats its figs, whoever looks after his master wil be honoured.	18 El que cuida una higuera comerá de su fruto y el que respeta a su patrón recibirá honores.
19 As water reflects face back to face, so one human heart reflects another.	19 Como el rostro se refleja en el agua, así el hombre se mira a sí mismo en los demás.
20 Sheol and Perdition are never satisfied, insatiable, too, are human eyes.	20 El Abismo y la Perdición son insaciables, e insaciables son también los ojos del hombre.
21 A furnace for silver, a foundry for gold: a person is worth what his reputation is worth.	21 Hay un crisol para la plata y un horno para el oro, pero el hombre es apreciado por su reputación.
22 Pound a fool in a mortar, among grain with a pestle, his fol y wil not leave him.	22 Aunque machaques al necio en un mortero, entre los granos, con un pisón, su necedad no se apartará de él.
23 Know your flocks' condition well, take good care of your herds;	23 Conoce bien el estado de tus ovejas, presta mucha atención a tus rebaños,
24 for riches do not last for ever, crowns do not hand themselves on from age to age.	24 porque la riqueza no dura para siempre ni una diadema indefinidamente.
25 The grass once gone, the aftergrowth appearing, the hay gathered in from the mountains,	25 Una vez cortada la hierba, aparecido el renuevo y apilado el heno de las montañas,
26 you should have lambs to clothe you, goats to buy you a field,	26 ten corderos para vestirte, chivos para pagar el precio de un campo,
27 goat's milk sufficient to feed you, to feed your household and provide for your serving girls.	27 y bastante leche de cabra para alimentarte, para mantener a tu familia y para que vivan tus servidoras.
