Isaiah 8

1 Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.	1 Der Herr sprach zu mir: "Nimm dir eine große Tafel und schreibe darauf in gewöhnlicher Schrift: "Eilebeute - Raubebald"!
2 And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.	2 Auch bestelle mir zwei zuverlässige Zeugen, Uria, den Priester, und Sacharja, den Sohn des Jeberechja!"
3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.	3 Ich hatte mich der Prophetin genaht; sie ward schwanger und gebar einen Sohn. Der Herr sprach zu mir: "Nenne seinen Namen "Eilebeute-Raubebald"!
4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.	4 Denn ehe der Knabe zu rufen weiß "Mein Vater, meine Mutter", wird man den Reichtum von Damaskus und die Beute von Samaria vor dem König von Assur einhertragen."
5 The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,	5 Der Herr redete noch weiterhin zu mir:
6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;	6 "Dieses Volk verachtet die sanft fließenden Wasser Siloahs und verzagt vor Rezin und dem Sohn des Remalja.
7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:	7 Darum läßt der Herr über sie die Wasser des Euphrat, die starken und großen, fluten [den König von Assur und seine gesamte Streitmacht]. Er steigt über all seine Rinnsale und tritt über all seine Ufer.
8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.	8 Er dringt nach Juda vor, überflutet und überschwemmt es, bis er zum Halse reicht. Die Ausdehnung seiner Ränder erfüllt deines Landes Breite, o Immanuel!
9 Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.	9 Erkennt es, ihr Völker, und erschreckt; horchet auf, alle Fernen der Erde! Gürtet euch und erschreckt, ja gürtet euch und erschreckt!
10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.	10 Faßt einen Plan, er wird zunichte! Redet ein Wort, es hat keinen Bestand; denn mit uns ist Gott!"
11 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,	11 Denn so sprach der Herr zu mir, als seine Hand mich ergriff und er mich warnte, auf dem Weg dieses Volkes zu gehen:
12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.	12 "Ihr sollt nicht "Verschwörung" sagen überall da, wo dieses Volk "Verschwörung" sagt! Was es fürchtet, sollt ihr nicht fürchten und sollt davor nicht erschrecken!
13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.	13 Den Herrn der Heerscharen, ihn sollt ihr heilighalten! Er soll eure Furcht und euer Schrecken sein!
14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	14 Er wird zum Heiligtum werden, zum Stein des Anstoßes und zum Fels des Strauchelns für die beiden Häuser Israels, zum Netz und zur Falle für die Einwohner Jerusalems.
15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.	15 Viele straucheln darüber; sie stürzen und brechen zusammen, werden verstrickt und gefangen."
16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.	16 Verwahren will ich das Zeugnis, versiegeln in meinen Jüngern die Weisung.
17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.	17 Harren will ich des Herrn, der sein Antlitz vor dem Hause Jakob verbirgt, auf ihn will ich hoffen!
18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.	18 Siehe, ich und die Kinder, die der Herr mir gegeben, sind Zeichen und Sinnbilder in Israel, vom Herrn der Heerscharen her, der auf dem Berge Sion wohnt.
19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?	19 Und wenn man zu euch sagt: "Befragt doch die Toten- und Wahrsagegeister, die da flüstern und murmeln! Soll ein Volk nicht seine Götter befragen, für die Lebenden die Toten?",
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.	20 dann hin zur Lehre und zum Zeugnis! Sicher wird solches reden ein Volk, für das es kein Morgenrot gibt!
21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.	21 Es schweift umher, gedrückt und hungernd. Weil es nun aber hungert, ergrimmt es und verflucht seinen König und Gott. Es wendet sich zur Höhe,
22 And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.	22 und es blickt zur Erde; aber siehe, da gibt es nur Drangsal und Finsternis, düstere Bedrängnis und Dunkelheit eines Verstoßenen.
	23 Fürwahr, nicht wird im Dunkel bleiben das Land, das jetzt in Bedrängnis ist! In der früheren Zeit brachte der Herr Schmach über das Land Sebulun und das Land Naphtali, aber zur letzten Zeit bringt er zu Ehren das Gebiet der Meeresstraße, das Gelände am Jordan, den Gau der Heiden (Galiläa).
