KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.1 [For the choirmaster Tune: 'Do not destroy' Psalm Of Asaph Song] We give thanks to you, God, wegive thanks to you, as we cal upon your name, as we recount your wonders.
When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.2 'At the appointed time I myself shal dispense justice.
The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.3 The earth quakes and al its inhabitants; it is I who hold its pil ars firm.Pause
I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:4 'I said to the boastful, "Do not boast!" to the wicked, "Do not flaunt your strength!
Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.5 Do not flaunt your strength so proudly, do not talk with that arrogant stance." '
For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.6 No longer from east to west, no longer in the mountainous desert,
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.7 is God judging in uprightness, bringing some down, raising others.
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.8 Yahweh is holding a cup fil ed with a heady blend of wine; he wil pour it, they wil drink it to the dregs, al the wicked on earth wil drink it.
But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.9 But I shal speak out for ever, shal make music for the God of Jacob.
All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.10 I shal break down al the strength of the wicked, and the strength of the upright will rise high.
