1 Commencement de l'Evangile de Jésus Christ, Fils de Dieu.	1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ (the Son of God).
2 Selon qu'il est écrit dans Isaïe le prophète: Voici que j'envoie mon messager en avant de toi pourpréparer ta route.	2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: "Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.
3 Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert: Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, rendez droits ses sentiers,	3 A voice of one crying out in the desert: 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.'"
4 Jean le Baptiste fut dans le désert, proclamant un baptême de repentir pour la rémission des péchés.	4 John (the) Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
5 Et s'en allaient vers lui tout le pays de Judée et tous les habitants de Jérusalem, et ils se faisaientbaptiser par lui dans les eaux du Jourdain, en confessant leurs péchés.	5 People of the whole Judean countryside and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they acknowledged their sins.
6 Jean était vêtu d'une peau de chameau et mangeait des sauterelles et du miel sauvage.	6 John was clothed in camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist. He fed on locusts and wild honey.
7 Et il proclamait: "Vient derrière moi celui qui est plus fort que moi, dont je ne suis pas digne, en mecourbant, de délier la courroie de ses sandales.	7 And this is what he proclaimed: "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.
8 Moi, je vous ai baptisés avec de l'eau, mais lui vous baptisera avec l'Esprit Saint."	8 I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the holy Spirit."
9 Et il advint qu'en ces jours-là Jésus vint de Nazareth de Galilée, et il fut baptisé dans le Jourdain parJean.	9 It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.
10 Et aussitôt, remontant de l'eau, il vit les cieux se déchirer et l'Esprit comme une colombe descendrevers lui,	10 On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.
11 et une voix vint des cieux: "Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé, tu as toute ma faveur."	11 And a voice came from the heavens, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."
12 Et aussitôt, l'Esprit le pousse au désert.	12 At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert,
13 Et il était dans le désert durant 40 jours, tenté par Satan. Et il était avec les bêtes sauvages et lesanges le servaient.	13 and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.
14 Après que Jean eut été livré, Jésus vint en Galilée, proclamant l'Evangile de Dieu et disant:	14 After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:
15 "Le temps est accompli et le Royaume de Dieu est tout proche: repentez-vous et croyez à l'Evangile."	15 "This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."
16 Comme il passait sur le bord de la mer de Galilée, il vit Simon et André, le frère de Simon, quijetaient l'épervier dans la mer; car c'étaient des pêcheurs.	16 As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen.
17 Et Jésus leur dit: "Venez à ma suite et je vous ferai devenir pêcheurs d'hommes."	17 Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."
18 Et aussitôt, laissant les filets, ils le suivirent.	18 Then they abandoned their nets and followed him.
19 Et avançant un peu, il vit Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean son frère, eux aussi dans leur barque entrain d'arranger les filets;	19 He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets.
20 et aussitôt il les appela. Et laissant leur père Zébédée dans la barque avec ses employés, ils partirent àsa suite.	20 Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.
21 Ils pénètrent à Capharnaüm. Et aussitôt, le jour du sabbat, étant entré dans la synagogue, ilenseignait.	21 Then they came to Capernaum, and on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught.
22 Et ils étaient frappés de son enseignement, car il les enseignait comme ayant autorité, et non pascomme les scribes.	22 The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.
23 Et aussitôt il y avait dans leur synagogue un homme possédé d'un esprit impur, qui cria	23 In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit;
24 en disant: "Que nous veux-tu, Jésus le Nazarénien? Es-tu venu pour nous perdre? Je sais qui tu es: leSaint de Dieu."	24 he cried out, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"
25 Et Jésus le menaça en disant: "Tais-toi et sors de lui."	25 Jesus rebuked him and said, "Quiet! Come out of him!"
26 Et le secouant violemment, l'esprit impur cria d'une voix forte et sortit de lui.	26 The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him.
27 Et ils furent tous effrayés, de sorte qu'ils se demandaient entre eux: "Qu'est cela? Un enseignementnouveau, donné d'autorité! Même aux esprits impurs, il commande et ils lui obéissent!"	27 All were amazed and asked one another, "What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him."
28 Et sa renommée se répandit aussitôt partout, dans toute la région de Galilée.	28 His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.
29 Et aussitôt, sortant de la synagogue, il vint dans la maison de Simon et d'André, avec Jacques et Jean.	29 On leaving the synagogue he entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John.
30 Or la belle-mère de Simon était au lit avec la fièvre, et aussitôt ils lui parlent à son sujet.	30 Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her.
31 S'approchant, il la fit se lever en la prenant par la main. Et la fièvre la quitta, et elle les servait.	31 He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them.
32 Le soir venu, quand fut couché le soleil, on lui apportait tous les malades et les démoniaques,	32 When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons.
33 et la ville entière était rassemblée devant la porte.	33 The whole town was gathered at the door.
34 Et il guérit beaucoup de malades atteints de divers maux, et il chassa beaucoup de démons. Et il nelaissait pas parler les démons, parce qu'ils savaient qui il était.	34 He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.
35 Le matin, bien avant le jour, il se leva, sortit et s'en alla dans un lieu désert, et là il priait.	35 Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.
36 Simon et ses compagnons le poursuivirent	36 Simon and those who were with him pursued him
37 et, l'ayant trouvé, ils lui disent: "Tout le monde te cherche."	37 and on finding him said, "Everyone is looking for you."
38 Il leur dit: "Allons ailleurs, dans les bourgs voisins, afin que j'y prêche aussi, car c'est pour cela queje suis sorti."	38 He told them, "Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come."
39 Et il s'en alla à travers toute la Galilée, prêchant dans leurs synagogues et chassant les démons.	39 So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee.
40 Un lépreux vient à lui, le supplie et, s'agenouillant, lui dit: "Si tu le veux, tu peux me purifier."	40 A leper came to him (and kneeling down) begged him and said, "If you wish, you can make me clean."
41 Emu de compassion, il étendit la main, le toucha et lui dit: "Je le veux, sois purifié."	41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, "I do will it. Be made clean."
42 Et aussitôt la lèpre le quitta et il fut purifié.	42 The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean.
43 Et le rudoyant, il le chassa aussitôt,	43 Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once.
44 et lui dit: "Garde-toi de rien dire à personne; mais va te montrer au prêtre et offre pour ta purificationce qu'a prescrit Moïse: ce leur sera une attestation."	44 Then he said to him, "See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them."
45 Mais lui, une fois parti, se mit à proclamer hautement et à divulguer la nouvelle, de sorte que Jésusne pouvait plus entrer ouvertement dans une ville, mais il se tenait dehors, dans des lieux déserts; et l'on venait àlui de toutes parts.	45 The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.
