Psalms 97

1 For the same David, when his land was restored again to him. The Lord hath reigned, let the earth rejoice: let many islands be glad.	1 Der Herr ist König; es juble die Erde; die vielen Inseln sollen sich freuen!
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: justice and judgment are the establishment of his throne.	2 Gewölk und Dunkel umgeben ihn, Gerechtigkeit und Recht sind seines Thrones Stütze.
3 A fire shall go before him, and shall burn his enemies round about.	3 Feuer geht vor ihm her und versengt seine Gegner im Umkreis.
4 His lightnings have shone forth to the world: the earth saw and trembled.	4 Seine Blitze erhellen den Erdkreis; die Erde sieht es und bebt.
5 The mountains melted like wax, at the presence of the Lord: at the presence of the Lord of all the earth.	5 Die Berge schmelzen wie Wachs [vor dem Herrn], vor dem Antlitz des Herrn aller Welt.
6 The heavens declared his justice: and all people saw his glory.	6 Seine Gerechtigkeit künden die Himmel, alle Völker schauen seinen Glanz.
7 Let them be all confounded that adore graven things, and that glory in their idols. Adore him, all you his angels:	7 Da müssen alle Bildanbeter sich schämen, die der Götzen sich rühmen; alle Götter müssen ihm huldigen.
8 Sion heard, and was glad. And the daughters of Juda rejoiced, because of thy judgments, O Lord.	8 Sion vernimmt es und freut sich; die Landstädte Judas jubeln ob deiner Gerichte, o Herr.
9 For thou art the most high Lord over all the earth: thou art exalted exceedingly above all gods.	9 Denn du bist der Höchste, Herr, über alle Welt, bist hoch erhaben über alle Götter.
10 You that love the Lord, hate evil: the Lord preserveth the souls of his saints, he will deliver them out of the hand of the sinner.	10 Der Herr liebt die Feinde des Bösen; er behütet das Leben seiner Frommen und rettet sie aus der Frevler Hand.
11 Light is risen to the just, and joy to the right of heart.	11 Licht strahlt den Gerechten, Freude den redlichen Herzen.
12 Rejoice, ye just, in the Lord: and give praise to the remembrance of his holiness.	12 Freut euch am Herrn, ihr Gerechten, und preist seinen heiligen Namen!
