| 2 a causa de la verdad que permanece en nosotros y que estará con nosotros para siempre, | 2 because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us for ever: |
| 3 También estarán con nosotros la gracia, la misericordia y la paz de Dios Padre y de su Hijo Jesucristo, en la verdad y en el amor. | 3 Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father's Son, in truth and love. |
| 4 Me he alegrado muchísimo al encontrar a algunos hijos tuyos que viven en la verdad, según el mandamiento que hemos recibido del Padre. | 4 I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children following the truth, just as we have been commanded by the Father. |
| 5 Y ahora te ruego: amémonos los unos a los otros. Con lo cual no te comunico un nuevo mandamiento, sino que el que tenemos desde el principio. | 5 And now I beg you, lady, not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. |
| 6 El amor consiste en vivir de acuerdo con los mandamientos de Dios. Y el mandamiento que ustedes han aprendido desde el principio es que vivan en el amor. | 6 And this is love, that we follow his commandments; this is the commandment, as you have heard from the beginning, that you follow love. |
| 7 Porque han invadido el mundo muchos seductores que no confiesan a Jesucristo manifestado en la carne. ¡Ellos son el Seductor y el Anticristo! | 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. |
| 8 Ustedes estén alerta para no perder el fruto de sus trabajos, de manera que puedan recibir una perfecta retribución. | 8 Look to yourselves, that you may not lose what you have worked for, but may win a full reward. |
| 9 Todo el que se aventura más allá de la doctrina de Cristo y no permanece en ella, no está unido a Dios. En cambio, el que permanece en su doctrina está unido al Padre y también al Hijo. | 9 Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the doctrine has both the Father and the Son. |
| 10 Si alguien se presenta ante ustedes y no trae esta misma doctrina, no lo reciban en su casa ni lo saluden. | 10 If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting; |
| 11 Porque el que lo saluda se hace cómplice de sus malas obras. | 11 for he who greets him shares his wicked work. |
| 12 Tendría muchas otras cosas que escribirles, pero no quise hacerlo por carta, porque espero ir a verlos para hablar con ustedes personalmente, a fin de que nuestra alegría sea completa. | 12 Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink, but I hope to come to see you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete. |
| 13 También te saludan fraternalmente los hijos de esta Comunidad elegida. | 13 The children of your elect sister greet you. |
