Efesios 4

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Yo, que estoy preso por el Señor, los exhorto a comportarse de una manera digna de la vocación que han recibido.	1 And so, as a prisoner in the Lord, I beg you to walk in a manner worthy of the vocation to which you have been called:
2 Con mucha humildad, mansedumbre y paciencia, sopórtense mutuamente por amor.	2 with all humility and meekness, with patience, supporting one another in charity.
3 Traten de conservar la unidad del Espíritu mediante el vínculo de la paz.	3 Be anxious to preserve the unity of the Spirit within the bonds of peace.
4 Hay un solo Cuerpo y un solo Espíritu, así como hay una misma esperanza, a la que ustedes han sido llamados, de acuerdo con la vocación recibida.	4 One body and one Spirit: to this you have been called by the one hope of your calling:
5 hay un solo Señor, una sola fe, un solo bautismo.	5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 Hay un solo Dios y Padre de todos, que está sobre todos, lo penetra todo y está en todos.	6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.
7 Sin embargo, cada uno de nosotros ha recibido su propio don, en la medida que Cristo los ha distribuido.	7 Yet to each one of us there has been given grace according to the measure allotted by Christ.
8 Por eso dice la Escritura: "Cuando subió a lo alto, llevó consigo a los cautivos y repartió dones a los hombres".	8 Because of this, he says: “Ascending on high, he took captivity itself captive; he gave gifts to men.”
9 Pero si decimos que subió, significa que primero descendió a las regiones inferiores de la tierra.	9 Now that he has ascended, what is left except for him also to descended, first to the lower parts of the earth?
10 El que descendió es el mismo que subió más allá de los cielos, para colmar todo el universo.	10 He who descended is the same one who also ascended above all the heavens, so that he might fulfill everything.
11 El comunicó a unos el don de ser apóstoles, a otros profetas, a otros predicadores del Evangelio, a otros pastores o maestros.	11 And the same one granted that some would be Apostles, and some Prophets, yet truly others evangelists, and others pastors and teachers,
12 Así organizó a los santos para la obra del ministerio, en orden a la edificación del Cuerpo de Cristo,	12 for the sake of the perfection of the saints, by the work of the ministry, in the edification of the body of Christ,
13 hasta que todos lleguemos a la unidad de la fe y del conocimiento del Hijo de Dios, al estado de hombre perfecto y a la madurez que corresponde a la plenitud de Cristo.	13 until we all meet in the unity of faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as a perfect man, in the measure of the age of the fullness of Christ.
14 Así dejaremos de ser niños, sacudidos por las olas y arrastrados por el viento de cualquier doctrina, a merced de la malicia de los hombres y de su astucia para enseñar el error.	14 So may we then no longer be little children, disturbed and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the wickedness of men, and by the craftiness which deceives unto error.
15 Por el contrario, viviendo en la verdad y en el amor, crezcamos plenamente, unidos a Cristo. El es la Cabeza,	15 Instead, acting according to truth in charity, we should increase in everything, in him who is the head, Christ himself.
16 y de él, todo el Cuerpo recibe unidad y cohesión, gracias a los ligamentos que lo vivifican y a la acción armoniosa de todos los miembros. Así el Cuerpo crece y se edifica en el amor.	16 For in him, the whole body is joined closely together, by every underlying joint, through the function allotted to each part, bringing improvement to the body, toward its edification in charity.
17 Les digo y les recomiendo en nombre del Señor: no procedan como los paganos, que se dejan llevar por la frivolidad de sus pensamientos	17 And so, I say this, and I testify in the Lord: that from now on you should walk, not as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 y tienen la mente oscurecida. Ellos están apartados de la Vida de Dios por su ignorancia y su obstinación,	18 having their intellect obscured, being alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is within them, because of the blindness of their hearts.
19 y habiendo perdido el sentido moral, se han entregado al vicio, cometiendo desenfrenadamente toda clase de impurezas.	19 Such as these, despairing, have given themselves over to sexual immorality, carrying out every impurity with rapacity.
20 Pero no es eso lo que ustedes aprendieron de Cristo,	20 But this is not what you have learned in Christ.
21 si es que de veras oyeron predicar de él y fueron enseñados según la verdad que reside en Jesús.	21 For certainly, you have listened to him, and you have been instructed in him, according to the truth that is in Jesus:
22 De él aprendieron que es preciso renunciar a la vida que llevaban, despojándose del hombre viejo, que se va corrompiendo por la seducción de la concupiscencia,	22 to set aside your earlier behavior, the former man, who was corrupted, by means of desire, unto error,
23 para renovarse en lo más íntimo de su espíritu	23 and so be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 y revestirse del hombre nuevo, creado a imagen de Dios en la justicia y en la verdadera santidad.	24 and so put on the new man, who, in accord with God, is created in justice and in the holiness of truth.
25 Por eso, renuncien a la mentira y digan siempre la verdad a su prójimo, ya que todos somos miembros, los unos de los otros.	25 Because of this, setting aside lying, speak the truth, each one with his neighbor. For we are all part of one another.
26 Si se enojan, no se dejen arrastrar al pecado ni permitan que la noche los sorprenda enojados,	26 “Be angry, but do not be willing to sin.” Do not let the sun set over your anger.
27 dando así ocasión al demonio.	27 Provide no place for the devil.
28 El que robaba, que deje de robar y se ponga a trabajar honestamente con sus manos, para poder ayudar al que está necesitado.	28 Whoever was stealing, let him now not steal, but rather let him labor, working with his hands, doing what is good, so that he may have something to distribute to those who suffer need.
29 No profieran palabras inconvenientes; al contrario, que sus palabras sean siempre buenas, para que resulten edificantes cuando sea necesario y hagan bien a aquellos que las escuchan.	29 Let no evil words proceed from your mouth, but only what is good, toward the edification of faith, so as to bestow grace upon those who listen.
30 No entristezcan al Espíritu Santo de Dios, que los ha marcado con un sello para el día de la redención.	30 And do not be willing to grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you have been sealed, unto the day of redemption.
31 Eviten la amargura, los arrebatos, la ira, los gritos, los insultos y toda clase de maldad.	31 Let all bitterness and anger and indignation and outcry and blasphemy be taken away from you, along with all malice.
32 Por el contrario, sean mutuamente buenos y compasivos, perdonándose los unos a los otros como Dios los ha perdonado en Cristo.	32 And be kind and merciful to one another, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you in Christ.
