| 1 ¡Lleva a tu boca la trompeta! Como un águila, se abate la desgracia sobre la casa del Señor, porque ellos han transgredido mi alianza y se han rebelado contra mi Ley. | 1 Set the trumpet to your lips, for a vulture is over the house of the LORD, because they have broken my covenant, and transgressed my law. |
| 2 Ellos gritan hacia mí: «¡Dios mío, nosotros, los de Israel, te conocemos!». | 2 To me they cry, My God, we Israel know thee. |
| 3 Pero Israel ha rechazado el bien: el enemigo lo perseguirá. | 3 Israel has spurned the good; the enemy shall pursue him. |
| 4 Entronizaron reyes pero sin contar conmigo; designaron príncipes, pero sin mi aprobación. Se hicieron ídolos con su plata y su oro, para su propio exterminio. | 4 They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but without my knowledge. With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction. |
| 5 Yo rechazo tu ternero, Samaría; mi ira se ha encendido contra ellos. ¿Hasta cuándo no podrán recobrar la inocencia? | 5 I have spurned your calf, O Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will it be till they are pure |
| 6 Porque ese ternero proviene de Israel: lo hizo un artesano, y no es Dios. Sí, el ternero de Samaría quedará hecho pedazos. | 6 in Israel? A workman made it; it is not God. The calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces. |
| 7 Porque siembran vientos, recogerán tempestades. Tallos sin espiga no produce harina, y si la produce, se la tragarán los extranjeros. | 7 For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads, it shall yield no meal; if it were to yield, aliens would devour it. |
| 8 ¡Israel ha sido tragado! Ahora están entre las naciones como un objeto sin valor, | 8 Israel is swallowed up; already they are among the nations as a useless vessel. |
| 9 porque ellos subieron a Asiria. El asno salvaje se queda solo, pero Efraím paga los amores con regalos. | 9 For they have gone up to Assyria, a wild ass wandering alone; Ephraim has hired lovers. |
| 10 Aunque hagan regalos entre las naciones, ahora los voy a reunir, y dentro de poco se retorcerán bajo el peso del rey de los príncipes. | 10 Though they hire allies among the nations, I will soon gather them up. And they shall cease for a little while from anointing king and princes. |
| 11 Efraím multiplicó los altares para expiar el pecado, pero esos altares le han servido sólo para pecar. | 11 Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they have become to him altars for sinning. |
| 12 Por más que escriba para él mis prescripciones de mi Ley, se las tendría por una cosa extraña. | 12 Were I to write for him my laws by ten thousands, they would be regarded as a strange thing. |
| 13 En cuanto a los sacrificios que me ofrecen, ¡que los inmolen, que se coman la carne! ¡El Señor no los aceptará! Ahora, él se acordará de sus culpas y pedirá cuanta de sus pecados: entonces ellos regresarán a Egipto. | 13 They love sacrifice; they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but the LORD has no delight in them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins; they shall return to Egypt. |
| 14 Israel se olvidó de su Creador y se construyó palacios Judá multiplicó sus plazas fuertes, pero no enviaré fuego a sus ciudades y él consumirá sus ciudadelas. | 14 For Israel has forgotten his Maker, and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour his strongholds. |
