| 2 ¿No habrá una respuesta para tanto palabrerío? ¿Tendrá siempre razón el que habla demasiado? | 2 "Should a multitude of words go unanswered, and a man full of talk be vindicated? |
| 3 ¿Tu locuacidad hará callar a los demás y te burlarás sin que nadie te confunda? | 3 Should your babble silence men, and when you mock, shall no one shame you? |
| 4 Tú has dicho: «Mi doctrina es pura y estoy limpio ante tus ojos». | 4 For you say, 'My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in God's eyes.' |
| 5 En cambio, si Dios hablara y abriera sus labios contra ti; | 5 But oh, that God would speak, and open his lips to you, |
| 6 si te revelara los secretos de la sabiduría, tan sutiles para el entendimiento, sabrías que Dios olvida una parte de tu culpa. | 6 and that he would tell you the secrets of wisdom! For he is manifold in understanding. Know then that God exacts of you less than your guilt deserves. |
| 7 ¿Puedes tú escrutar las profundidades de Dios o vislumbrar la perfección del Todopoderoso? | 7 "Can you find out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limit of the Almighty? |
| 8 Ella es más alta que el cielo: ¿qué puedes hacer tú? Es mas honda que el Abismo: ¿qué puedes entender? | 8 It is higher than heaven --what can you do? Deeper than Sheol--what can you know? |
| 9 Por su extensión, es más larga que la tierra y más ancha que el mar. | 9 Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea. |
| 10 Si Dios pasa y aprisiona, y si convoca a juicio, ¿quién se lo impedirá? | 10 If he passes through, and imprisons, and calls to judgment, who can hinder him? |
| 11 El conoce a los hombres falsos, ve la maldad ¿y no la sabrá discernir? | 11 For he knows worthless men; when he sees iniquity, will he not consider it? |
| 12 Pero un necio asentará cabeza cuando se domestique un asno salvaje de la estepa. | 12 But a stupid man will get understanding, when a wild ass's colt is born a man. |
| 13 En cuanto a ti, si enderezas tu corazón y extiendes tus manos hacia Dios, | 13 "If you set your heart aright, you will stretch out your hands toward him. |
| 14 si alejas la maldad que hay en tus manos y no dejas que la injusticia habite en tu carpa, | 14 If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in your tents. |
| 15 entonces sí erguirás tu frente inmaculada, estarás firme y nada temerás. | 15 Surely then you will lift up your face without blemish; you will be secure, and will not fear. |
| 16 Así te olvidarás de las penas, las recordarás como una correntada pasajera. | 16 You will forget your misery; you will remember it as waters that have passed away. |
| 17 La vida se alzará más radiante que el mediodía, la oscuridad será como una alborada. | 17 And your life will be brighter than the noonday; its darkness will be like the morning. |
| 18 Estarás seguro, porque habrá una esperanza; observarás a tu alrededor, y te acostarás tranquilo. | 18 And you will have confidence, because there is hope; you will be protected and take your rest in safety. |
| 19 Descansarás sin que nadie te perturbe y muchos tratarán de ganarse tu favor. | 19 You will lie down, and none will make you afraid; many will entreat your favor. |
| 20 Pero los ojos de los malvados se consumen, les falta todo refugio y el último suspiro será su única esperanza. | 20 But the eyes of the wicked will fail; all way of escape will be lost to them, and their hope is to breathe their last." |
