1 Jésus était entré dans Jéricho et traversait la ville.	1 And having entered, he walked through Jericho.
2 Or il y avait là un homme du nom de Zachée, un homme fort riche qui était chef des collecteurs de l’impôt.	2 And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. And he was the leader of the tax collectors, and he was wealthy.
3 Il voulait absolument voir qui était Jésus, mais il ne le pouvait pas car il était de petite taille et il y avait beaucoup de monde.	3 And he sought to see Jesus, to see who he was. But he was unable to do so, because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.
4 Il courut donc en avant, là où il devait passer, et il monta sur un sycomore afin de le voir.	4 And running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore tree, so that he might see him. For he was to pass near there.
5 Quand Jésus arriva à cet endroit, il leva les yeux et lui dit: "Zachée, dépêche-toi de descendre, car c’est chez toi que je dois m’arrêter aujourd’hui.”	5 And when he had arrived at the place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and he said to him: “Zacchaeus, hurry down. For today, I should lodge in your house.”
6 Zachée aussitôt s’empressa de descendre, et c’est avec grande joie qu’il le reçut.	6 And hurrying, he came down, and he received him joyfully.
7 Voyant cela, tous murmuraient et l’on disait: "Il s’est arrêté chez un pécheur de bonne condition!”	7 And when they all saw this, they murmured, saying that he had turned aside to a sinful man.
8 Mais Zachée faisait le pas et disait au Seigneur: "Je vais donner aux pauvres la moitié de mes biens, Seigneur, et si j’ai extorqué quelque chose à quelqu’un, je vais rendre quatre fois plus.”	8 But Zacchaeus, standing still, said to the Lord: “Behold, Lord, one half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone in any matter, I will repay him fourfold.”
9 Jésus dit alors, pensant à lui: "Aujourd’hui le salut est entré dans cette maison; n’est-il pas lui aussi fils d’Abraham?	9 Jesus said to him: “Today, salvation has come to this house; because of this, he too is a son of Abraham.
10 Le Fils de l’Homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu.”	10 For the Son of man has come to seek and to save what had been lost.”
11 Comme Jésus approchait de Jérusalem, il dit cette autre parabole car ses auditeurs étaient convaincus que le Royaume de Dieu allait se manifester maintenant.	11 As they were listening to these things, continuing on, he spoke a parable, because he was nearing Jerusalem, and because they guessed that the kingdom of God might be manifested without delay.
12 Il leur dit: "Un homme de grande famille partit dans un pays lointain pour y recevoir le pouvoir royal et ensuite revenir.	12 Therefore, he said: “A certain man of nobility traveled to a far away region, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 Il appela dix de ses serviteurs et leur confia dix mines, dix sacs d’argent, en leur disant: Faites-les fructifier jusqu’à mon retour.”	13 And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and he said to them: ‘Do business until I return.’
14 “Comme ses concitoyens le détestaient, ils envoyèrent une ambassade derrière lui avec ce message: ‘Nous ne voulons pas de celui-là comme roi.’	14 But his citizens hated him. And so they sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this one to reign over us.’
15 Il revint pourtant, ayant reçu le pouvoir royal, et il fit appeler les serviteurs auxquels il avait confié l’argent pour voir comment chacun d’eux l’avait fait valoir.	15 And it happened that he returned, having received the kingdom. And he ordered the servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called so that he would know how much each one had earned by doing business.
16 “Le premier arrive et dit: ‘Seigneur, ta mine a rapporté dix autres mines!’	16 Now the first approached, saying: ‘Lord, your one pound has earned ten pounds.’
17 Le roi lui répond: ‘Très bien, tu es un bon serviteur et tu t’es montré digne de confiance dans cette petite affaire! À cause de cela tu auras dix villes sous ta dépendance.’	17 And he said to him: ‘Well done, good servant. Since you have been faithful in a small matter, you will hold authority over ten cities.’
18 Le deuxième vient à son tour et dit: ‘Ta mine, seigneur, en a produit cinq autres.’	18 And the second came, saying: ‘Lord, your one pound has earned five pounds.’
19 Le roi lui dit: ‘Toi, tu auras cinq villes sous ta dépendance.’	19 And he said to him, ‘And so, you shall be over five cities.’
20 “Et puis arrive un autre qui dit: ‘Seigneur, voici ta mine! Je l’avais mise de côté dans un linge.	20 And another approached, saying: ‘Lord, behold your one pound, which I kept stored in a cloth.
21 Car j’avais peur de toi, je sais que tu es un homme exigeant, tu prends là où tu n’as rien engagé, et tu moissonnes là où tu n’as pas semé.’	21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You take up what you did not lay down, and you reap what you did not sow.’
22 “Le roi lui dit: ‘Mauvais serviteur, je te juge sur tes propres paroles. Tu me connaissais comme un homme exigeant qui prend là où il n’a rien engagé et moissonne là où il n’a pas semé.	22 He said to him: ‘By your own mouth, do I judge you, O wicked servant. You knew that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow.
23 Pourquoi n’as-tu pas déposé mon argent à la banque? À mon retour je l’aurais retiré avec les intérêts.’	23 And so, why did you not give my money to the bank, so that, upon my return, I might have withdrawn it with interest?’
24 “Puis, se tournant vers ceux qui sont là, il leur dit: ‘Prenez-lui la mine, et donnez-la à celui qui en a dix.’	24 And he said to the bystanders, ‘Take the pound away from him, and give it to him who has ten pounds.’
25 Ils répondent: ‘Seigneur, il a déjà dix mines!’	25 And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten pounds.’
26 - ‘Mais oui! on donnera à celui qui a, mais à celui qui n’a pas, même ce qu’il a lui sera enlevé.	26 So then, I say to you, that to all who have, it shall be given, and he will have in abundance. And from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.
27 Maintenant, amenez ici mes ennemis, ceux qui ne voulaient pas que je règne sur eux, et égorgez-les devant moi.’”	27 ‘Yet truly, as for those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here, and put them to death before me.’ ”
28 Ayant dit cela, Jésus prit la tête du groupe et commença la montée vers Jérusalem.	28 And having said these things, he went ahead, ascending to Jerusalem.
29 Quand il approcha de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, au mont dit des Oliviers,	29 And it happened that, when he had drawn near to Bethphage and Bethania, to the mount which is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
30 il envoya deux des disciples en leur disant: "Allez jusqu’au village que vous voyez en face; à l’entrée vous trouverez un ânon attaché que personne n’a jamais monté. Détachez-le et amenez-le.	30 saying: “Go into the town which is opposite you. Upon entering it, you will find the colt of a donkey, tied, on which no man has ever sat. Untie it, and lead it here.
31 Si quelqu’un vous demande pourquoi vous le détachez, vous répondrez simplement: Le Seigneur en a besoin.”	31 And if anyone will ask you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this to him: ‘Because the Lord has requested its service.’ ”
32 Les envoyés partirent et trouvèrent tout comme il leur avait dit.	32 And those who were sent went out, and they found the colt standing, just as he told them.
33 Au moment où ils détachaient l’ânon, les maîtres leur dirent: "Pourquoi détachez-vous l’ânon?”	33 Then, as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 Ils répondirent: "Le Seigneur en a besoin.”	34 So they said, “Because the Lord has need of it.”
35 Ils amenèrent à Jésus l’ânon, jetèrent sur lui leurs manteaux et firent monter Jésus.	35 And they led it to Jesus. And casting their garments on the colt, they helped Jesus onto it.
36 À mesure qu’il avançait, les gens étendaient leurs manteaux sur le chemin.	36 Then, as he was traveling, they were laying down their garments along the way.
37 Comme il approchait déjà de la descente du Mont des Oliviers, toute la foule des disciples manifesta sa joie: ils se mirent à louer Dieu à pleine voix pour tous les miracles qu’ils avaient vus.	37 And when he was now drawing near to the descent of Mount Olivet, the entire crowd of his disciples began to praise God joyfully, with a loud voice, over all the powerful works which they had seen,
38 Ils disaient: “Béni soit ce roi qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Paix dans le ciel et gloire au plus haut des cieux!”	38 saying: “Blessed is the king who has arrived in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory on high!”
39 Dans la foule quelques Pharisiens lui dirent: "Reprends tes disciples, Maître!”	39 And certain Pharisees within the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
40 Il leur répondit: "Je vous le dis: s’ils se taisent, les pierres crieront.”	40 And he said to them, “I tell you, that if these will keep silent, the stones themselves will cry out.”
41 Lorsque déjà on approchait il aperçut la ville	41 And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying:
42 et prononça une lamentation sur elle. Il dit: "Si toi aussi en ce jour tu pouvais reconnaître les chemins de la paix! Mais désormais ils seront cachés à tes yeux.	42 “If only you had known, indeed even in this your day, which things are for your peace. But now they are hidden from your eyes.
43 “Des jours viendront auxquels tu n’échapperas pas, où tes ennemis t’entoureront de tranchées, t’enfermeront, te presseront de toutes parts	43 For the days will overtake you. And your enemies will encircle you with a valley. And they will surround you and hem you in on every side.
44 et t’écraseront avec tes enfants au milieu de toi. Il ne restera pas de toi pierre sur pierre, parce que tu n’as pas reconnu le temps où tu étais visitée.”	44 And they will knock you down to the ground, with your sons who are in you. And they will not leave stone upon stone within you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
45 Alors Jésus entra dans le Temple. Il commença à jeter dehors les vendeurs	45 And entering into the temple, he began to cast out those who sold in it, and those who bought,
46 en leur disant: "Il est écrit: Ma maison sera une maison de prière. Mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de brigands!”	46 saying to them: “It is written: ‘My house is a house of prayer.’ But you have made it into a den of robbers.”
47 Chaque jour il était là dans le Temple et il enseignait. Les grands prêtres et les maîtres de la Loi voulaient sa perte, et de même les chefs du peuple,	47 And he was teaching in the temple daily. And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, and the leaders of the people were seeking to destroy him.
48 mais ils ne savaient que faire car tout le peuple l’écoutait, suspendu à ses lèvres.	48 But they could not find what to do to him. For all the people were listening to him attentively.
