Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Efesini 3

1 Per la qual cosa io Paulo, legato di Iesù Cristo per voi genti,	1 By reason of this grace, I, Paul, am a prisoner of Jesus Christ, for the sake of you Gentiles.
2 se tanto è che voi udiste la dispensazione della grazia di Dio, la quale è data a me in voi;	2 Now certainly, you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which has been given to me among you:
3 imperò che secondo la rivelazione manifosto è fatto a me il sacramento di Dio, secondo ch' io descrissi a voi in breve,	3 that, by means of revelation, the mystery was made known to me, just as I have written above in a few words.
4 secondo che poteste voi intendere, leggendo, la mia saviezza nel servizio di Cristo,	4 Yet, by reading this closely, you might be able to understand my prudence in the mystery of Christ.
5 il quale secreto all' altre generazioni non è manifestato per li figliuoli delli uomini, secondo che ora è palesato alli santi apostoli di Cristo, e alli profeti per il Spirito,	5 In other generations, this was unknown to the sons of men, even as it has now been revealed to his holy Apostles and Prophets in the Spirit,
6 che le genti debbono essere insieme coeredi, e concorporali insieme saranno partecipi della promissione di Dio in Iesù Cristo per l' evangelio,	6 so that the Gentiles would be co-heirs, and of the same body, and partners together, by his promise in Christ Jesus, through the Gospel.
7 del quale io son fatto (servitore e) ministro, secondo il dono della grazia di Dio, la quale è data a me secondo l'operazione della sua virtù.	7 Of this Gospel, I have been made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God, which has been given to me by means of the operation of his virtue.
8 A me, più minimo di tutti i santi, è data questa grazia per evangelizzare intra le genti le investigabili ricchezze di Cristo (le quali non si possono cercare nè pensare),	8 Although I am the least of all the saints, I have been given this grace: to evangelize among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
9 e per alluminare tutta la gente (che conoscano) qual sia la dispensazione del secreto nascosto in Dio insino dal cominciamento, il quale Dio tutte le cose creò.	9 and to enlighten everyone concerning the dispensation of the mystery, hidden before the ages in God who created all things,
10 E questo fece Dio, perchè sia manifesta la grande saviezza di Dio alli principi e le potestà, intra le celestiali cose, per la Chiesa,	10 so that the manifold wisdom of God may become well-known to the principalities and powers in the heavens, through the Church,
11 secondo il definimento de' secoli, il quale fece Dio in Iesù Cristo nostro Signore,	11 according to that timeless purpose, which he has formed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12 nel quale avemo fidanza, e accesso per la sua fede.	12 In him we trust, and so we approach with confidence, through his faith.
13 Per la qual cosa pregovi che non veniate meno nelle tribulazioni le quali sostengo per voi; ch' è la vostra gloria.	13 Because of this, I ask you not to be weakened by my tribulations on your behalf; for this is your glory.
14 Per la qual cosa [m']inginocchio al Padre del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo,	14 By reason of this grace, I bend my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 dal qual ogni paternità è nominata in cielo e in terra,	15 from whom all paternity in heaven and on earth takes its name.
16 acciò ch' egli dia a voi, secondo le divizie della sua gloria, virtù di fermezza per il suo Spirito nell' animo vostro dentro,	16 And I ask him to grant to you to be strengthened in virtue by his Spirit, in accord with the wealth of his glory, in the inner man,
17 (e che vi dia grazia) che Cristo abiti per fede ne' vostri cuori (e oro per voi), che siate radicati e fondati nella carità,	17 so that Christ may live in your hearts through a faith rooted in, and founded on, charity.
18 perchè possiate comprendere con tutti li santi, quanta sia l'ampiezza, la lunghezza e l'altezza e il profondo;	18 So may you be able to embrace, with all the saints, what is the width and length and height and depth
19 e che possiate sapere la grande (carità) di Cristo, la quale sovrasta a ogni scienza, e perchè siate ripieni di ogni riempimento di Dio.	19 of the charity of Christ, and even be able to know that which surpasses all knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 E a quel ch' è potente di fare tutte le cose più abbondevolmente che non chiedemo e più che non intendemo, secondo la virtù di Cristo la qual opera in noi,	20 Now to him who is able to do all things, more abundantly than we could ever ask or understand, by means of the virtue which is at work in us:
21 a lui sia gloria in Chiesa, [e in Cristo Iesù], in tutte le generazioni del secolo e de' secoli. Amen.	21 to him be glory, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, throughout every generation, forever and ever. Amen.
