1 Il Signore disse a Mosè:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 "Fatti due trombe d'argento: le farai massicce e serviranno per la convocazione della comunità e la partenza dagli accampamenti:	2 'Make yourself two trumpets; make them of beaten silver, so that you can use them for summoningthe community, and for sounding the order to break camp.
3 con quelle si suonerà e si radunerà presso di te tutta la comunità all'ingresso della tenda del convegno.	3 Whenever they are sounded, the whole community must gather round you, at the entrance to theTent of Meeting.
4 Al suono di una sola, converranno presso di te i capi, alla testa delle migliaia d'Israele.	4 But if only one trumpet is sounded, then only the leaders, the heads of Israel's thousands, mustgather round you.
5 Quando suonerete con clamore, gli accampati a est partiranno.	5 'When the trumpet blast is accompanied by a battle cry, the encampments pitched to the east wil setout.
6 Suonerete con clamore una seconda volta e partiranno quelli accampati a sud: si suoneranno con clamore quando si dovranno muovere.	6 At the second blast accompanied by a battle cry, the encampments pitched to the south wil set out.For breaking camp, the trumpet blast wil be accompanied by a battle cry,
7 Quando radunerete l'assemblea suonerete, ma non con clamore.	7 but for assembling the community the trumpets will be sounded without battle cry.
8 Suoneranno le trombe i figli di Aronne, i sacerdoti: sarà per voi una prescrizione perenne per le vostre generazioni.	8 The Aaronite priests wil sound the trumpets; this is a perpetual decree for you and your descendants.
9 Se entrerete in guerra nella vostra terra contro un oppressore che vi attacca, farete clamore con le trombe, vi ricorderete del Signore, vostro Dio, e sarete salvati contro i vostri nemici.	9 'When in your country you go to war against an enemy who is oppressing you, you will soundtrumpets with a battle cry, and Yahweh your God wil remember you, and you wil be delivered from yourenemies.
10 Nel giorno della vostra gioia, nelle vostre feste, agli inizi dei vostri mesi suonerete le trombe per i vostri olocausti, per i vostri sacrifici di pace e per voi saranno un ricordo davanti al vostro Dio. Io sono il Signore, vostro Dio".	10 At your festivals, solemnities and new-moon feasts, you will sound the trumpets over your burntofferings and communion sacrifices, so that they recal you to the remembrance of your God. I am Yahweh yourGod.'
11 Nel secondo anno, nel secondo mese, il	11 In the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, the cloud rose fromwhere the Dwel ing of the Testimony was,
12 I figli d'Israele partirono secondo l'ordine di marcia per il deserto del Sinai e la nuvola andò a fermarsi nel deserto di Paran.	12 and the Israelites set out, in marching order, from the desert of Sinai. The cloud came to rest in thedesert of Paran.
13 Per la prima volta si mosse l'accampamento per ordine del Signore, dato da Mosè.	13 These were the men who set out in the vanguard, at Yahweh's order through Moses:
14 Per prima partì l'insegna del campo di Giuda, secondo le loro schiere: sopra le loro schiere era Nacason, figlio di Amminadab.	14 first went the standard of the camp of the Judahites and their units, with Nahshon son ofAmminadab commanding that contingent;
15 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Issacar era Natanael, figlio di Suar.	15 Nethanel son of Zuar commanding the tribal contingent of the Issacharites;
16 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Zabulon era Eliab, figlio di Chelon.	16 and Eliab son of Helon commanding the tribal contingent of the Zebulunites.
17 Poi la dimora fu smontata e partirono i figli di Gherson e i figli di Merari, che la portavano.	17 The Dwel ing was then dismantled and the Gershonites and Merarites set out, carrying the Dwel ing.
18 Partì quindi l'insegna del campo di Ruben, secondo le loro schiere: sopra la loro schiera era Elisur, figlio di Sedeur.	18 Then came the standard of the camp of the Reubenites and their units, with Elizur son of Shedeurcommanding that contingent;
19 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Simeone era Selumiel, figlio di Surisaddai.	19 Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai commanding the tribal contingent of the Simeonites;
20 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Gad era Eliasaf, figlio di Deuel.	20 and Eliasaph son of Reuel commanding the tribal contingent of the Gadites.
21 Poi partirono i Keatiti, portando gli oggetti sacri; gli altri dovevano erigere la dimora prima che questi arrivassero.	21 Then came the Kohathites carrying the sanctuary (the Dwel ing was erected before they arrived).
22 Partì quindi l'insegna del campo dei figli di Efraim, secondo le loro schiere: sopra la sua schiera era Elisama, figlio di Ammiud.	22 Then came the standard of the camp of the Ephraimites and their units, with Elishama son ofAmmihud commanding that contingent;
23 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Manasse era Gamliel, figlio di Pedasur.	23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur commanding the tribal contingent of the Manassehites;
24 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Beniamino era Abidan, figlio di Ghideoni.	24 and Abidan son of Gideoni commanding the tribal contingent of the Benjaminites.
25 Partì infine l'insegna del campo dei figli di Dan, a conclusione di tutti i campi, secondo le loro schiere: sulla sua schiera era Achiezer, figlio di Ammisaddai.	25 Last of al , the rearguard of al the camps, came the standard of the camp of the Danites and theirunits, with Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai commanding that contingent;
26 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Aser era Paghiel, figlio di Ocran.	26 Pagiel son of Ochran commanding the tribal contingent of the Asherites;
27 Sopra la schiera della tribù dei figli di Neftali era Achira, figlio di Enan.	27 and Ahira son of Enan commanding the tribal contingent of the Naphtalites.
28 Questo era l'ordine di marcia dei figli d'Israele, secondo le loro schiere. E partirono.	28 Such was the order of march for the Israelites, unit by unit. So they set out.
29 Mosè disse a Obab, figlio di Reuel, madianita, suocero di Mosè: "Stiamo partendo verso il luogo del quale il Signore ha detto "Ve lo darò": vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene, perché il Signore ha promesso di fare del bene a Israele".	29 Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, his father-in-law, 'We are setting out for the countryof which Yahweh has said: I shall give it to you. Come with us, and we wil treat you wel , for Yahweh haspromised good things for Israel.'
30 Gli rispose: "Non andrò, ma tornerò alla mia terra, presso i miei parenti".	30 'I wil not come with you,' he replied, 'but shal go to my own country and kin.'
31 Mosè disse: "Non abbandonarci, perché tu sai dove possiamo accampare nel deserto e sarai per noi come gli occhi.	31 'Do not leave us,' Moses said, 'for you know where we can camp in the desert, and so you will beour eyes.
32 Se verrai con noi, quel bene che il Signore farà a noi, lo faremo a te".	32 If you come with us, we shal share with you whatever blessings Yahweh gives us.'
33 Partirono allora dalla montagna del Signore e fecero tre giorni di cammino, mentre l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore li precedeva per un cammino di tre giorni, per cercare un luogo di riposo per loro.	33 They set out from Yahweh's mountain and travel ed for three days, while the ark of the covenant ofYahweh preceded them on the three-day journey, searching out a place for them to halt.
34 La nuvola del Signore era su di loro durante il giorno, da quando erano partiti dal campo.	34 In the daytime, Yahweh's cloud was over them, once they had broken camp.
35 Quando partiva l'arca, Mosè diceva: "Sorgi, Signore, siano dispersi i tuoi nemici, fuggano davanti a te quelli che ti odiano";	35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say: Rise, Yahweh, may your enemies be scattered andthose who hate you flee at your approach!
36 e quando si fermava, diceva: "Ritorna, o Signore, alla moltitudine delle migliaia d'Israele".	36 And when it halted, he would say: Come back, Yahweh, to the countless thousands of Israel!
