1 Canto delle ascensioni. Alzo gli occhi verso i monti: da dove mi verrà l'aiuto?	1 In my trouble I cried to the Lord: and he heard me.
2 L'aiuto mi verrà dal Signore: egli ha fatto cieli e terra.	2 O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, and a deceitful tongue.
3 Non permetterà che il tuo piede vacilli, né che il tuo custode sonnecchi.	3 What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, to a deceitful tongue.
4 Ecco, non sonnecchia, non s'addormenta il custode d'Israele.	4 The sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals that lay waste.
5 Il Signore è il tuo custode, il Signore è l'ombra che ti copre.	5 Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of cedar:
6 Non ti colpirà il sole di giorno, né la luna di notte.	6 my soul hath been long a sojourner.
7 Il Signore ti custodirà da ogni male, custodirà la tua anima.	7 With them that hate peace I was peaceable: when I spoke to them they fought against me without cause.
8 Il Signore custodirà la tua partenza e il tuo arrivo, ora e sempre!
