1 Hannah also prayed and said, "My heart exults in the LORD; my strength is exalted in the LORD. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in thy salvation.	1 Allora Anna pregò: "Il mio cuore esulta nel Signore, la mia fronte s'innalza grazie al mio Dio. Si apre la mia bocca contro i miei nemici, perché io godo del beneficio che mi hai concesso.
2 "There is none holy like the LORD, there is none besides thee; there is no rock like our God.	2 Non c'è santo come il Signore, non c'è rocca come il nostro Dio.
3 Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.	3 Non moltiplicate i discorsi superbi, dalla vostra bocca non esca arroganza; perché il Signore è il Dio che sa tutto e le sue opere sono rette.
4 The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble gird on strength.	4 L'arco dei forti s'è spezzato, ma i deboli sono rivestiti di vigore.
5 Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, but those who were hungry have ceased to hunger. The barren has borne seven, but she who has many children is forlorn.	5 I sazi sono andati a giornata per un pane, mentre gli affamati han cessato di faticare. 6 The LORD kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.	6 Il Signore fa morire e fa vivere, scendere agli inferi e risalire.
7 The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he brings low, he also exalts.	7 Il Signore rende povero e arricchisce, abbassa ed esalta.
8 He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the LORDS, and on them he has set the world.	8 Solleva dalla polvere il misero, innalza il povero dalle immondizie, per farli sedere insieme con i capi del popolo e assegnar loro un seggio di gloria. Perché al Signore appartengono i cardini della terra e su di essi fa poggiare il mondo.
9 "He will guard the feet of his faithful ones; but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness; for not by might shall a man prevail.	9 Sui passi dei giusti Egli veglia, ma gli empi svaniscono nelle tenebre. Certo non prevarrà l'uomo malgrado la sua forza.
10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; against them he will thunder in heaven. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king, and exalt the power of his anointed."	10 Il Signore... saranno abbattuti i suoi avversari! L'Altissimo tuonerà dal cielo. Il Signore giudicherà gli estremi confini della terra; darà forza al suo re ed eleverà la potenza del suo Messia".
11 Then Elkanah went home to Ramah. And the boy ministered to the LORD, in the presence of Eli the priest.	11 Poi Elkana tornò a Rama, a casa sua, e il fanciullo rimase a servire il Signore alla presenza del sacerdote Eli.
12 Now the sons of Eli were worthless men; they had no regard for the LORD.	12 Ora i figli di Eli erano uomini depravati; non tenevano in alcun conto il Signore,
13 The custom of the priests with the people was that when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant would come, while the meat was boiling, with a three-pronged fork in his hand,	13 né la retta condotta dei sacerdoti verso il popolo. Quando uno si presentava a offrire il sacrificio, veniva il servo del sacerdote mentre la carne cuoceva, con in mano un forchettone a tre denti,
14 and he would thrust it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fork brought up the priest would take for himself. So they did at Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there.	14 e lo introduceva nella pentola o nella marmitta o nel tegame o nella caldaia e tutto ciò che il forchettone tirava su il sacerdote lo teneva per sé. Così facevano con tutti gli Israeliti che venivano là a Silo.
15 Moreover, before the fat was burned, the priest's servant would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, "Give meat for the priest to roast; for he will not accept boiled meat from you, but raw."	15 Prima che fosse bruciato il grasso, veniva ancora il servo del sacerdote e diceva a chi offriva il sacrificio: "Dammi la carne da arrostire per il sacerdote, perché non vuole avere da te carne cotta, ma cruda".
16 And if the man said to him, "Let them burn the fat first, and then take as much as you wish," he would say, "No, you must give it now; and if not, I will take it by force."	16 Se quegli rispondeva: "Si bruci prima il grasso, poi prenderai quanto vorrai!", replicava: "No, me la devi dare ora, altrimenti la prenderò con la forza".
17 Thus the sin of the young men was very great in the sight of the LORD; for the men treated the offering of the LORD with contempt.	17 Così il peccato di quei giovani era molto grande davanti al Signore perché disonoravano l'offerta del Signore.
18 Samuel was ministering before the LORD, a boy girded with a linen ephod.	18 Samuele prestava servizio davanti al Signore per quanto lo poteva un fanciullo e andava cinto di 'efod' di lino.
19 And his mother used to make for him a little robe and take it to him each year, when she went up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.	19 Sua madre gli preparava una piccola veste e gliela portava ogni anno, quando andava con il marito a offrire il sacrificio annuale.
20 Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, "The LORD give you children by this woman for the loan which she lent to the LORD"; so then they would return to their home.	20 Eli allora benediceva Elkana e sua moglie ed esclamava: "Ti conceda il Signore altra prole da questa donna per il prestito che essa ha fatto al Signore". Essi tornarono a casa
21 And the LORD visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew in the presence of the LORD.	21 e il Signore visitò Anna, che partorì ancora tre figli e due figlie. Frattanto il fanciullo Samuele cresceva presso il Signore.
22 Now Eli was very old, and he heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.	22 Eli era molto vecchio e gli veniva all'orecchio quanto i suoi figli facevano a tutto Israele e come essi si univano alle donne che prestavano servizio all'ingresso della tenda del convegno.
23 And he said to them, "Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all the people.	23 Perciò disse loro: "Perché dunque fate tali cose? Io sento infatti da parte di tutto il popolo le vostre azioni empie!
24 No, my sons; it is no good report that I hear the people of the LORD spreading abroad.	24 No, figli, non è bene ciò che io odo di voi, che cioè sviate il popolo del Signore.
25 If a man sins against a man, God will mediate for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?" But they would not listen to the voice of their father; for it was the will of the LORD to slay them.	25 Se un uomo pecca contro un altro uomo, Dio potrà intervenire in suo favore, ma se l'uomo pecca contro il Signore, chi potrà intercedere per lui?". Ma non ascoltarono la voce del padre, perché il Signore aveva deciso di farli morire.
26 Now the boy Samuel continued to grow both in stature and in favor with the LORD and with men.	26 Invece il giovane Samuele andava crescendo in statura e in bontà davanti al Signore e agli uomini.
27 And there came a man of God to Eli, and said to him, "Thus the LORD has said, I revealed myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt subject to the house of Pharaoh.	27 Un giorno venne un uomo di Dio da Eli e gli disse: "Così dice il Signore: Non mi sono forse rivelato alla casa di tuo padre, mentre erano in Egitto, in casa del faraone?
28 And I chose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me; and I gave to the house of your father all my offerings by fire from the people of Israel.	28 Non l'ho scelto da tutte le tribù d'Israele come mio sacerdote, perché salga l'altare, bruci l'incenso e porti l''efod' davanti a me? Alla casa di tuo padre ho anche assegnato tutti i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco, offerti dagli Israeliti.
29 Why then look with greedy eye at my sacrifices and my offerings which I commanded, and honor your sons above me by fattening yourselves upon the choicest parts of every offering of my people Israel?'	29 Perché dunque avete calpestato i miei sacrifici e le mie offerte che io ho ordinato per sempre e tu hai avuto maggior riguardo ai tuoi figli che a me e vi siete pasciuti in tal modo con le primizie di ogni offerta di Israele mio popolo?
30 Therefore the LORD the God of Israel declares: I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me for ever'; but now the LORD declares: Far be it from me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.	30 Ecco dunque l'oracolo del Signore, Dio d'Israele: Avevo promesso alla tua casa e alla casa di tuo padre che avrebbero sempre camminato alla mia presenza. Ma ora - oracolo del Signore - non sia mai! Perché chi mi onorerà anch'io l'onorerò, chi mi disprezzerà sarà oggetto di disprezzo.
31 Behold, the days are coming, when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your father's house, so that there will not be an old man in your house.	31 Ecco verranno giorni in cui io taglierò via il tuo braccio e il braccio della casa di tuo padre, sì che non vi sia più un anziano nella tua casa.
32 Then in distress you will look with envious eye on all the prosperity which shall be bestowed upon Israel; and there shall not be an old man in your house for ever.	32 Guarderai sempre angustiato tutto il bene che farò a Israele, mentre non si troverà mai più un anziano nella tua casa.
33 The man of you whom I shall not cut off from my altar shall be spared to weep out his eyes and grieve his heart; and all the increase of your house shall die by the sword of men.	33 Qualcuno dei tuoi tuttavia non lo strapperò dal mio altare, perché ti si consumino gli occhi e si strazi il tuo animo: ma chiunque sarà nato dalla tua famiglia morirà per la spada degli uomini.
34 And this which shall befall your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, shall be the sign to you: both of them shall die on the same day.	34 Sarà per te un segno quello che avverrà ai tuoi due figli, a Cofni e Pìncas: nello stesso giorno moriranno tutti e due.
35 And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who shall do according to what is in my heart and in my mind; and I will build him a sure house, and he shall go in and out before my anointed for ever.	35 Dopo, farò sorgere al mio servizio un sacerdote fedele che agirà secondo il mio cuore e il mio desiderio. Io gli darò una casa stabile e camminerà alla mia presenza, come mio consacrato per sempre.
36 And every one who is left in your house shall come to implore him for a piece of silver or a loaf of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray you, in one of the priest's places, that I may eat a morsel of bread.'"	36 Chiunque sarà superstite nella tua casa, andrà a prostrarsi davanti a lui per una monetina d'argento e per un pezzo di pane e dirà: Ammettimi a qualunque ufficio sacerdotale, perché possa mangiare un tozzo di pane".
