1 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key of the shaft of the bottomless pit;	1 E il quinto Angelo diè fiato alla tromba, e vidi un astro caduto dal cielo sulla terra. A lui fu data la chiave del pozzo dell'abisso.
2 he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft.	2 Egli aprì il pozzo doll'abisso, e dal pozzo salì fumo come il fumo d'una gran fornace, e il sole e l'aria furono oscurati pel fumo del pozzo.
3 Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth;	3 E dal fumo del pozzo usciron delle locuste che si precipitarono sulla terra, e fu loro dato il potere che hanno gli scorpioni della terra;
4 they were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those of mankind who have not the seal of God upon their foreheads;	4 e fu loro ingiunto di non danneggiare nè l'erba della terra, nè alcunchè è di verde, nè alcuna pianta, ma soltanto gli uomini senza il segno di Dio in fronte,
5 they were allowed to torture them for five months, but not to kill them, and their torture was like the torture of a scorpion, when it stings a man.	5 e fu loro dato di non ucciderli, ma di tormentarli per cinque mesi, con un tormento simile a quello che dà lo scorpione quando punge un uomo.
6 And in those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, and death will fly from them.	6 E in quei giorni gli uomini cercheranno la morte, ma non la troveranno, e brameranno di morire, ma la morte fuggirà da loro.
7 In appearance the locusts were like horses arrayed for battle; on their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces were like human faces,	7 E la forma delle locuste era simile a quella di cavalli in ordine di battaglia, e sulla testa avevano delle specie di corone che parean d'oro, e i loro volti eran simili a quelli degli uomini;
8 their hair like women's hair, and their teeth like lions' teeth;	8 ma avevano i capelli come quelli delle donne, e i loro denti eran come i denti dei leoni;
9 they had scales like iron breastplates, and the noise of their wings was like the noise of many chariots with horses rushing into battle.	9 ed avevan corazze che sembravan di ferro, e il rumore delle loro ali era simile al rumno di cocchi a più cavalli slanciati alla battaglia.
10 They have tails like scorpions, and stings, and their power of hurting men for five months lies in their tails.	10 Avevan delle code come quelle degli scorpioni, e nelle code dei pungiglioni, ed avevano il potere di danneggiare gli uomini per cinque mesi.
11 They have as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon.	11 A capo, come re, avevan l'Angelo d'abisso, chiamato Abaddon in ebraico, Apollion in greco e Sterminatore in latino.
12 The first woe has passed; behold, two woes are still to come.	12 Il primo guai è passato; ma ecco gli tengon dietro gli altri due.
13 Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God,	13 E il sesto Angelo diè fiato alla tromba; e sentii una voce dai quattro angoli dell'altare d'oro che è dinanzi agli occhi di Dio,
14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."	14 la quale diceva al sesto Angelo che aveva la tromba: Sciogli i quattro Angeli legati presso il gran fiume Eufrate.
15 So the four angels were released, who had been held ready for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, to kill a third of mankind.	15 E furon sciolti i quattro Angeli che stavan pronti per l'ora, il giorno, il mese e l'anno, a uccidere la terza parte degli uomini.
16 The number of the troops of cavalry was twice ten thousand times ten thousand; I heard their number.	16 E il numero dell'esercito a cavallo ventimila volte dieci mila: ne sentii il numero.
17 And this was how I saw the horses in my vision: the riders wore breastplates the color of fire and of sapphire and of sulphur, and the heads of the horses were like lions' heads, and fire and smoke and sulphur issued from their mouths.	17 Così vidi nella visione i cavalli: quelli che vi stavan sopra avevan corazze fiammanti, del color del giacinto e dello zolfo; e le teste dei cavalli eran come teste di leoni, e dalla loro bocca usciva fuoco, fumo e zolfo.
18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulphur issuing from their mouths.	18 La terza parte degli uomini fu uccisa da questi tre flagelli: dal fuoco, dal fumo e dallo zolfo che uscivan dalle loro bocche;
19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; their tails are like serpents, with heads, and by means of them they wound.	19 perchè il potere dei cavalli sta nelle loro bocche e nelle loro code, le quali code, simili a serpenti, han teste colle quali offendono.
20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshipping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot either see or hear or walk;	20 Ma il resto degli uomini che non furono uccisi da questi flagelli, non fecero nemmeno penitenza delle opere loro, nè cessarono di adorare i demoni e gli idoli d'oro, d'argento, di bronzo, di pietra, di legno, privi di vista, di udito e di movimento;
21 nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their immorality or their thefts.	21 e non fecero penitenza nè dei loro omicidi, nè dei loro venefici, nè delle loro fornicazioni, nè dei loro furti.
