1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: 'The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. "'I know your works; you have the name of being alive, and you are dead.	1 E all'Angelo della Chiesa di Sardi scrivi: ecco quanto dice colui che ha i sette spiriti di Dio e le sette stelle: So le opere tue e che tu hai nome di vivo, ma sei morto.
2 Awake, and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God.	2 Sii vigilante e rafferma il resto che sta per morire, perchè le opere tue non le ho trovate perfette dinanzi al mio Dio.
3 Remember then what you received and heard; keep that, and repent. If you will not awake, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.	3 Ricordati dunque di quel che hai ricevuto e udito, e osservalo, e fai penitenza; che se non veglierai, verrò a te come un ladro, nè saprai in qual'ora verrò a sorprenderti.
4 Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy.	4 Hai però in Sardi alcune poche persone che non han contaminate le loro vesti, e verranno meco vestite di bianco, perchè ne son degne.
5 He who conquers shall be clad thus in white garments, and I will not blot his name out of the book of life; I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.	5 Il vincitore sarà così vestito di bianco, ed io non cancellerò il suo nome dal libro della vita; anzi confesserò il nome di lui dinanzi al Padre mio e dinanzi ai suoi Angeli.
6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'	6 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quel che lo Spirito dica alle Chiese.
7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: 'The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens.	7 E all'Angelo della Chiesa di Filadelfia scrivi: ecco quanto dice il Santo, il Verace che ha la chiave di David, colui che apre e nessuno può chiudere, che chiude e nessun può aprire:
8 "'I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.	8 So le opere tue: ecco, t'ho posto dinanzi una porta aperta che nessuno può chiudere, perchè, pur avendo poca virtù, hai osservata la mia parola e non hai negato il mio nome.
9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie--behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you.	9 Ecco, della sinagoga di Satana ti darò quelli che dicono d'esser Giudei e noi sono e mentiscono; ecco, io farò sì che vengano a prostrarsi ai tuoi piedi e conoscano che io t'ho amato.
10 Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial which is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell upon the earth.	10 E siccome hai salvata la parola della mia pazienza, anch'io salverò te dall'ora della tentazione che sta per piombare su tutto il mondo, per mettere alla prova gli abitanti della terra.
11 I am coming soon; hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.	11 Ecco io vengo ben presto: tu conserva quanto hai, affinchè nessuno prenda la tua corona.
12 He who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.	12 Il vincitore lo farò colonna nel tempio del mio Dio, ed egli non ne uscirà più; e sopra di lui scriverò il nome del mio Dio e il nome della città del mio Dio, della nuova Gerusalem­me che discende dal cielo, dal mio Dio, e il mio nuovo nome.
13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'	13 Chi ha orecchi, ascolti quel che lo Spirito dica alle Chiese.
14 "And to the angel of the church in La-odicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.	14 E all'Angelo della Chiosa di Laodicea scrivi: ecco quanto dice l'Amen, il testimone fedele e verace, il principio delle cose create da Dio:
15 "'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot!	15 Mi son note le tue opere e che non sei nè freddo nè caldo. Oh, tu fossi o freddo o caldo!
16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.	16 Ma perchè sei tiepido, nè freddo, nè caldo, comincierò a vomitarti dalla mia bocca.
17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing; not knowing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.	17 Giacché vai dicendo: Son ricco, dovizioso, non mi manca niente, e non sai d'essere meschino, miserabile, povero, cieco e nudo;
18 Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.	18 io ti consiglio a comprar da me dell'oro affinato nel fuoco, per arricchirti, e a metterti delle vesti bianche, per tenere nascosta la vergogna della tua nudità, e a ungere gli occhi tuoi col collirio, per vederci.
19 Those whom I love, I reprove and chasten; so be zealous and repent.	19 Quelli che amo io li riprendo e li castigo. Abbi dunque zelo, e fai penitenza.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.	20 Ecco, io sto alla porta e picchio: se uno ascolterà la mia voce e mi aprirà la porta, io entrerò da lui e cenerò con lui, ed egli cenerà con me.
21 He who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.	21 Al vincitore concederò di seder meco sul mio trono, come anche io, vincitore, mi sono assiso col Padre mio sul suo trono.
22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'"	22 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quel che lo Spirato dica alle Chiese.
