1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abino-am on that day:	1 E cantarono in quello dì Debora e Barac figliuolo di Abinoem, e sì dissono;
2 "That the leaders took the lead in Israel, that the people offered themselves willingly, bless the LORD!	2 Tutti voi i quali (deste e) offeriste oggi per propria volontade le vostre anime a pericolo, benedite Iddio Signore.
3 "Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes; to the LORD I will sing, I will make melody to the LORD, the God of Israel.	3 Udite, re; e pigliate colle vostre orecchie, o voi principi; io sono, lo quale canterò a Dio Signore (il giubilo) e sonerò dinanzi da Dio d' Israel.
4 "LORD, when thou didst go forth from Seir, when thou didst march from the region of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, yea, the clouds dropped water.	4 O Signore Iddio, uscendo tu di Seir e passando su per le contrade di Edon, la terra si mosse; e le nuvole incomincioro a gittare gocciole d' acqua.
5 The mountains quaked before the LORD, yon Sinai before the LORD, the God of Israel.	5 Tutti i monti corsero inanzi alla faccia di Dio, e Sinai dalla faccia di Dio Signore d' Israel.
6 "In the days of Shamgar, son of Anath, in the days of Jael, caravans ceased and travelers kept to the byways.	6 Nelli dì di Samgar figliuolo di Anat, e nelli dì di Iael, sì si riposarono le viottole; e quelli che entravano per quelle, sì andarono poi per calli i quali sì erano fuori della via (cioè per cotali luoghi nascosti).
7 The peasantry ceased in Israel, they ceased until you arose, Deborah, arose as a mother in Israel.	7 E vennero e reposaronsi gli uomini forti d' Israel, d' insino a tanto che si levò suso Debora, e levossi la madre in Israel.
8 When new gods were chosen, then war was in the gates. Was shield or spear to be seen among forty thousand in Israel?	8 Nuove battaglie elesse Iddio Signore, e le porte de' nostri nemici cacciò a terra; il scudo e la lancia sì apparve in mano a quaranta migliaia di uomini in Israel.
9 My heart goes out to the commanders of Israel who offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless the LORD.	9 Il mio cuore ama i principi d' Israel: o voi, che per propria vostra volontà vi metteste (e poneste alla morte e) al pericolo, benedite (e ringraziate) Iddio Signore.
10 "Tell of it, you who ride on tawny asses, you who sit on rich carpets and you who walk by the way.	10 Voi i quali andate in su asini grassi e puliti (e delicati), e sedete (e istate) a tenere giudicio (e ragione), e andate per la via, (favellate e) dite:
11 To the sound of musicians at the watering places, there they repeat the triumphs of the LORD, the triumphs of his peasantry in Israel. "Then down to the gates marched the people of the LORD.	11 Ove sono atterrati i carri armati (e guasti) ove sono affogati tutti quelli dell' oste de' nemici, qui si dicano le giustizie di Dio Signore e la sua clemenza (e benignità) nelli forti della città d' Israel: e allora iscese giuso il popolo di Dio Signore alle porte, e si prese il principato (e signoria).
12 "Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, utter a song! Arise, Barak, lead away your captives, O son of Abino-am.	12 Lièvati, lièvati suso, Debora; lièvati, lièvati suso, e favella di questo canto: lièvati suso, Barac figliuolo di Abinoem, e piglia i tuoi pregioni.
13 Then down marched the remnant of the noble; the people of the LORD marched down for him against the mighty.	13 Le reliquie del popolo (cioè quegli i quali erano rimasi) sono salvati (e liberati); Iddio Signore con li forti fue vittorioso.
14 From Ephraim they set out thither into the valley, following you, Benjamin, with your kinsmen; from Machir marched down the commanders, and from Zebulun those who bear the marshal's staff;	14 Di Efraim sì spense (e uccise) loro in Amalec, e dopo lui di Beniamin nelli tuoi popoli, o Amalec; (della città) di Machir vennero giuso i principi, e di Zabulon, i quali menassero l'oste a combattere.
15 the princes of Issachar came with Deborah, and Issachar faithful to Barak; into the valley they rushed forth at his heels. Among the clans of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.	15 I duchi d' Issacar sì furono con Debora (e seguitarono), e andarono dietro a Barac, il quale si mise (e diede) a pericolo e alla morte; diviso contro lui Ruben, si manifesta la contenzione de' magnanimi.
16 Why did you tarry among the sheepfolds, to hear the piping for the flocks? Among the clans of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.	16 Perchè abiti tra due termini per udire (il canto e il suono e) il sufolare delle greggie (del bestiame)? diviso contro a lui Ruben, si manifesta la contenzione de' magnanimi.
17 Gilead stayed beyond the Jordan; and Dan, why did he abide with the ships? Asher sat still at the coast of the sea, settling down by his landings.	17 Galaad di là dal (fiume) Giordano si riposava, e Dan si stava a navicare. Aser si stava alla riva del mare, e istava in su li porti.
18 Zebulun is a people that jeoparded their lives to the death; Naphtali too, on the heights of the field.	18 Ma Zabulon e Neftali sì puosono alla morte l'anime loro nelle contrade di Merome.
19 "The kings came, they fought; then fought the kings of Canaan, at Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo; they got no spoils of silver.	19 Vennero i re, e combatterono; combatterono i re di Canaan in Tanac a lato all' acque di Mageddo; ma con tutto ciò non tolsero nulla rubando.
20 From heaven fought the stars, from their courses they fought against Sisera.	20 Dal cielo fu la vittoria contro a loro; e stando le stelle nell' ordine loro, combatterono contro a Sisara.
21 The torrent Kishon swept them away, the onrushing torrent, the torrent Kishon. March on, my soul, with might!	21 Il torrente (dell' acqua) di Cison ne menoe i loro corpi morti, lo torrente di Cadumim, lo torrente di Cison; sottometti, anima mia, gli uomini robusti (e forti).
22 "Then loud beat the horses' hoofs with the galloping, galloping of his steeds.	22 L' unghie de' cavalli caddero, fuggendo troppo forte per luoghi pericolosi, cadendo intra i fortissimi de' loro nemici.
23 "Curse Meroz, says the angel of the LORD, curse bitterly its inhabitants, because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.	23 Maledite la terra di Meroz, disse l'Angelo di Dio, maledite a' suoi abitatori, imperciò che non vennero in aiuto di Dio Signore, e in aiuto de' suoi uomini fortissimi.
24 "Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, of tent-dwelling women most blessed.	24 Benedetta sia tra le femine Iael moglie di Aber Cineo, e sia benedetta nel suo tabernacolo.
25 He asked water and she gave him milk, she brought him curds in a lordly bowl.	25 A colui che domandò bere acqua, sì diede latte; e nella guastarda de' principi sì gli porse il butiro.
26 She put her hand to the tent peg and her right hand to the workmen's mallet; she struck Sisera a blow, she crushed his head, she shattered and pierced his temple.	26 Colla mano manca prese il chiavistello, e colla ritta il martello de' fabri; e sì percosse Sisara, cercando nel capo luogo di ferire, e forandogli fortemente la tempia.
27 He sank, he fell, he lay still at her feet; at her feet he sank, he fell; where he sank, there he fell dead.	27 Tra' [suoi] piedi cadde e venne meno e morì; innanzi a' suoi piedi si voltava, e istava in terra, morto e misero.
28 "Out of the window she peered, the mother of Sisera gazed through the lattice: 'Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why tarry the hoofbeats of his chariots?'	28 Ragguardando per la finestra, sì istrideva la sua madre, e parlava della sala da cenare, e dicea perchè sì indugia di tornare il suo carro? perchè hanno tanto tardato di tornare i suoi carri?
29 Her wisest ladies make answer, nay, she gives answer to herself,	29 Ma. una, più savia tra tutte le altre mogli, respuose queste parole alla suocera sua:
30 'Are they not finding and dividing the spoil?--A maiden or two for every man; spoil of dyed stuffs for Sisera, spoil of dyed stuffs embroidered, two pieces of dyed work embroidered for my neck as spoil?'	30 Forse che ora divide la robba; e una delle più belle femine che vi sono sì gli si elegge (e piglia); vestimenta di diversi colori sono (portate e) date a Sisara in preda, e varie masserizie (e belle e) per ornamento di (gola e di) collo si piglia.
31 "So perish all thine enemies, O LORD! But thy friends be like the sun as he rises in his might." And the land had rest for forty years.	31 Così periscano (e vengano meno), o Dio Signore, tutti i tuoi nemici; ma coloro i quali t' amano, come il sole riluce (e risplende) quando si lieva, così risplendano.
	32 E riposossi la terra (e istette in pace) XL anni.
