1 Thessalonians 4

1 Finally, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, just as you are doing, you do so more and more.	1 Por lo demás, hermanos, los rogamos y les exhortamos en el Señor Jesús, que vivan conforme a lo que han aprendido de nosotros sobre la manera de comportarse para agradar a Dios. De hecho, ustedes ya viven así: hagan mayores progresos todavía.
2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.	2 Ya conocen las instrucciones que les he dado en nombre del Señor Jesús.
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from unchastity;	3 La voluntad de Dios es que sean santos, que se abstengan del pecado carnal,
4 that each one of you know how to take a wife for himself in holiness and honor,	4 que cada uno sepa usar de su cuerpo con santidad y respeto,
5 not in the passion of lust like heathen who do not know God;	5 sin dejarse llevar de la pasión desenfrenada, como hacen los paganos que no conocen a Dios.
6 that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we solemnly forewarned you.	6 Que nadie se atreva a perjudicar ni a dañar en esto a su hermano, porque el Señor hará justicia por todas estas cosas, como ya se lo hemos dicho y atestiguado.
7 For God has not called us for uncleanness, but in holiness.	7 Dios, en efecto, no nos llamó a la impureza, sino a la santidad.
8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.	8 Por eso, el que desprecia estas normas, no desprecia a un hombre, sino a Dios, a ese Dios que les ha dado su Espíritu Santo.
9 But concerning love of the brethren you have no need to have any one write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another;	9 Acerca del amor fraterno, no es necesario que les escriba, porque Dios mismo les ha enseñado a amarse los unos a los otros,
10 and indeed you do love all the brethren throughout Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, to do so more and more,	10 y así lo están haciendo con todos los hermanos de Macedonia. Pero yo los exhorto, hermanos, a hacer mayores progresos todavía.
11 to aspire to live quietly, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we charged you;	11 Que sea cuestión de honor para ustedes vivir en paz, cumpliendo cada uno sus obligaciones y trabajando con sus manos, de acuerdo con mis directivas.
12 so that you may command the respect of outsiders, and be dependent on nobody.	12 Así llevarán una vida digna a la vista de los paganos y no les faltará nada.
13 But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.	13 No queremos, hermanos, que vivan en la ignorancia acerca de los que ya han muerto, para que no estén tristes como los otros, que no tienen esperanza.
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.	14 Porque nosotros creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó: de la misma manera, Dios llevará con Jesús a los que murieron con él.
15 For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep.	15 Queremos decirles algo, fundados en la Palabra del Señor: los que vivamos, los que quedemos cuando venga el Señor, no precederemos a los que hayan muerto.
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel's call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first;	16 Porque a la señal dada por la voz del Arcángel y al toque de la trompeta de Dios, el mismo Señor descenderá del cielo. Entonces, primero resucitarán los que murieron en Cristo.
17 then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord.	17 Después nosotros, los que aún vivamos, los que quedemos, serenos llevados con ellos al cielo, sobre las nubes, al encuentro de Cristo, y así permaneceremos con el Señor para siempre.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.	18 Consuélense mutuamente con estos pensamientos.
