Colossians 2

1 For I want you to know how greatly I strive for you, and for those at La-odicea, and for all who have not seen my face,	1 Frères, je veux que vous sachiez quel dur combat je livre pour vous, pour ceux de Laodicée et tous les autres qui ne m’ont jamais vu personnellement.
2 that their hearts may be encouraged as they are knit together in love, to have all the riches of assured understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, of Christ,	2 Je veux qu’ils prennent courage, qu’ils se soutiennent les uns les autres dans l’amour, visant au plein épanouissement des dons d’intelligence, afin de bien connaître le secret mystère de Dieu qui est le Christ.
3 in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.	3 En lui sont renfermés tous les trésors de la sagesse et de la connaissance:
4 I say this in order that no one may delude you with beguiling speech.	4 j’y insiste pour que vous ne vous laissiez pas tromper par de faux arguments.
5 For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.	5 Bien que je sois absent de corps, mon esprit vous accompagne et je me réjouis quand je vois l’équilibre et la solidité de votre foi dans le Christ.
6 As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in him,	6 Puisque vous avez accepté le Christ Jésus comme le Seigneur, prenez son chemin.
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.	7 Prenez racine en lui et construisez-vous en lui; soyez fermes dans la foi qu’on vous a enseignée et ne vous lassez pas de rendre grâces.
8 See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ.	8 Ne vous laissez pas égarer par des sagesses et des théories creuses qui ne sont que la pensée d’un homme: c’est là le chemin du monde et non celui du Christ.
9 For in him the whole fulness of deity dwells bodily,	9 Vous savez que toute la plénitude de la divinité habite en lui faite corps.
10 and you have come to fulness of life in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.	10 Et en lui vous avez tout, puisqu’il est au-dessus de n’importe quel Principe ou Autorité.
11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of flesh in the circumcision of Christ;	11 En lui vous avez reçu une circoncision, non humaine, non chirurgicale, qui vous enlève tout ce corps charnel. C’est la circoncision du Christ,
12 and you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.	12 le baptême, où vous avez été ensevelis avec lui. Et puis, en lui, vous avez été ressuscités quand vous avez cru à la puissance de Dieu qui l’a ressuscité d’entre les morts.
13 And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,	13 Vous étiez morts avec toutes vos fautes, et c’est votre être même qui était non circoncis, mais Dieu vous a fait revivre avec le Christ: il nous a pardonné tous les péchés!
14 having canceled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross.	14 Lui a effacé la dette qui nous accablait: elle était écrite dans les commandements. Il en a cloué la facture à sa croix et il l’a supprimée.
15 He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in him.	15 Vainqueur par la croix, il a dépouillé les Principautés et les Autorités, il s’est moqué d’elles devant tout le monde et il les a traînées derrière lui enchaînées.
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath.	16 Donc, que personne ne vous critique pour ce que vous mangez et buvez, ou parce que vous n’observez pas une fête, ou une nouvelle lune ou le sabbat.
17 These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.	17 Tout cela n’était que des ombres, et la réalité c’est la personne du Christ.
18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,	18 Donc ne vous laissez pas intimider par ceux qui viennent avec une religion de courbettes et le culte des anges. Ces gens-là ne croient qu’à leurs propres visions, et ils sont fiers bien à tort de leurs théories tout humaines.
19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.	19 Ils en ont oublié de se tenir ferme à celui qui est la tête, et qui donne au corps son unité par un réseau de nerfs et de jointures, lui permettant de s’affermir et de grandir en Dieu.
20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the universe, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations,	20 Si, avec le Christ, vous êtes morts à tous les règlements du monde, comment peut-on vous faire la leçon comme si vous y viviez encore:
21 "Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch"	21 ne prends pas… n’y goûte pas… n’y touche pas…!
22 (referring to things which all perish as they are used), according to human precepts and doctrines?	22 Il s’agit toujours de choses qu’on utilise, des choses périssables, et on reconnaît bien là les obligations et les doctrines humaines.
23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting rigor of devotion and self-abasement and severity to the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh.	23 Tout cela paraît sage, très religieux et très humble, avec un grand mépris pour le corps. Mais c’est inefficace quand la chair se rebelle.
