1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.	1 Wenn ich mit den Zungen der Menschen und der Engel rede, doch Liebe nicht habe, bin ich ein tönendes Metall oder eine klingende Schelle.
2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.	2 Und wenn ich Prophetengabe besitze und um alle Geheimnisse weiß und alle Erkenntnis, und wenn ich allen Glauben habe, daß ich Berge versetze, doch Liebe nicht habe, so bin ich nichts.
3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.	3 Und wenn ich all meine Habe austeile [zur Speise für die Armen], und wenn ich meinen Leib hingebe zum Verbrennen, doch Liebe nicht habe, nützt es mir nichts.
4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful;	4 Die Liebe übt Nachsicht; in Güte handelt die Liebe. Sie eifert nicht; die Liebe macht sich nicht groß, sie bläht sich nicht auf.
5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;	5 Sie benimmt sich nicht ungehörig; sie sucht nicht das Ihre; sie läßt sich nicht erbittern; sie rechnet das Böse nicht an.
6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.	6 Sie hat nicht Freude am Unrecht, freut sich jedoch an der Wahrheit.
7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.	7 Sie erträgt alles, sie glaubt alles, sie hofft alles, sie duldet alles.
8 Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.	8 Die Liebe hört niemals auf. Ob Prophetengaben, sie gehen zu Ende; ob Reden in Zungen, sie werden aufhören; ob Erkenntnis, sie nimmt ein Ende.
9 For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect;	9 Denn Stückwerk ist unser Erkennen und Stückwerk unser prophetisches Reden.
10 but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away.	10 Kommt aber die Vollendung, wird das Stückwerk abgetan werden.
11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways.	11 Als ich noch Kind war, redete ich wie ein Kind, dachte ich wie ein Kind, überlegte wie ein Kind; da ich aber Mann geworden, legte ich die Art des Kindes ab.
12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.	12 Denn jetzt schauen wir durch einen Spiegel im unklaren Bild, dann aber von Angesicht zu Angesicht. Jetzt erkenne ich stückweise; dann aber werde ich erkennen, so wie auch ich erkannt bin.
13 So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.	13 Jetzt bleiben Glaube, Hoffnung, Liebe, diese drei: das Größte von ihnen ist die Liebe.
