1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?	1 Che diremo noi adunque? Rimarremo noi nel peccato, affinchè sia abbondante la grazia?
2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?	2 Dio ce ne guardi. Imperocché se noi siamo morti al peccato, come viveremo tuttora in esso?
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?	3 Non sapete voi forse, che quanti siamo stati battezzati in Cristo Gesù, nella morte di lui siamo stati battezzati?
4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.	4 Imperocché siamo stati insieme con lui sepolti pel Battesimo per morire: affinchè siccome Cristo risuscitò da morte per gloria del Padre, così noi nuova vita viviamo.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.	5 Imperocché se noi siamo stati innestati alla raffigurazione della sua morte, lo saremo eziandio alla risurrezione.
6 We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the sinful body might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.	6 Sapendo noi, come il nostro uomo vecchio è stato concrocifisso, affinchè sia distrutto il corpo del peccato, onde noi non serviamo più al peccato.
7 For he who has died is freed from sin.	7 Imperocché colui, che è morto, è stato giustificato dal peccato.
8 But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.	8 Che se siamo morti con Cristo, crediamo, che vireremo ancora con lui:
9 For we know that Christ being raised from the dead will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.	9 Sapendo noi, che Cristo risuscitato da morte non muore più, la morte più nol dominerà.
10 The death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.	10 Imperocché quanto all'essere lui morto, morì per lo peccato una volta: quanto poi al vivere, ei vive per Dio.
11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.	11 Nella stessa guisa anche voi fate conto, che siete morti al peccato, e vivi per Dio in Gesù Cristo Signor Nostro.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions.	12 Non regni adunque il peccato nel corpo vostro mortale, onde serviate alle sue concupiscenze.
13 Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but yield yourselves to God as men who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness.	13 E non imprestate le vostre membra quai strumenti di iniquità al peccato: ma offerite a Dio voi stessi, come viventi dopo essere stati morti, e le vostre membra a Dio come strumenti di giustizia.
14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.	14 Imperocché il peccato non vi dominerà: atteso che non siete sotto la legge, ma sotto la grazia.
15 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!	15 E che adunque? Peccheremo noi, perché non siamo sotto la legge, ma sotto la grazia? Dio ce ne guardi.
16 Do you not know that if you yield yourselves to any one as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?	16 Non sapete voi, che a chiunque vi diate per ubbidire qual servi, di lui siete servi, cui ubbidite, sia del peccato per morte, o sia della ubbidienza per la giustizia?
17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed,	17 Grazie però a Dio, che foste servi del peccato, ma avete ubbidito di cuore seconde quella forma di dottrina, dalla quale siete stati formati.
18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.	18 E liberarti dal peccato, siete divenuti servi della giustizia.
19 I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once yielded your members to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity, so now yield your members to righteousness for sanctification.	19 Parlo da uomo a riguardo della debolezza della vostra carne: imperocché siccome deste le vostre membra a servire alla immondezza, e alla iniquità per la iniquità, così date adesso le vostre membra a servire alla giustizia per la santificazione.
20 When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.	20 Imperocché quando eravate servi del peccato, eravate francati dalla giustizia.
21 But then what return did you get from the things of which you are now ashamed? The end of those things is death.	21 E qual frutto adunque aveste allora da quelle cose, nelle quali avete adesso vergogna? Conciossiachè il fine di essi è la morte.
22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the return you get is sanctification and its end, eternal life.	22 Adesso poi liberati dal peccato,e fatti servi di Dio, avete per vostro frutto la santificazione; per fine poi la vita eterna.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.	23 Imperocché la paga dei peccatosi è la morte. Grazia di Dio (è) la vita eterna in Cristo Gesù nostro Signore.
