1 As for the man who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not for disputes over opinions.	1 Karoljátok fel szeretettel azt, aki gyönge a hitben, de anélkül, hogy vitatkoznátok az eltérő felfogásokról.
2 One believes he may eat anything, while the weak man eats only vegetables.	2 Van, aki hiszi, hogy mindent szabad ennie; aki pedig gyönge, az növényekkel táplálkozik.
3 Let not him who eats despise him who abstains, and let not him who abstains pass judgment on him who eats; for God has welcomed him.	3 Aki eszik, ne vesse meg azt, aki nem eszik; és aki nem eszik, ne kárhoztassa azt, aki eszik. Hiszen Isten magáévá fogadta őt.
4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Master is able to make him stand.	4 Ki vagy te, hogy kárhoztasd más szolgáját? Urának áll vagy bukik; bizonyára állni fog, mert Istennek van hatalma, hogy fenntartsa.
5 One man esteems one day as better than another, while another man esteems all days alike. Let every one be fully convinced in his own mind.	5 Van, aki különbséget tesz nap és nap között, más meg egyformán ítél meg minden napot: kövesse mindenki a maga meggyőződését.
6 He who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. He also who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God; while he who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.	6 Aki megtartja a napot, az Úrért tartja meg; s aki eszik, az Úrra való tekintettel eszik, mert hálát ad Istennek; és aki nem eszik, az Úrra való tekintetből nem eszik – s ő is hálát ad Istennek.
7 None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself.	7 Hiszen egyikünk sem él önmagának, és egyikünk sem hal meg önmagának;
8 If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lords.	8 amíg élünk, az Úrnak élünk, s ha meghalunk, az Úrnak halunk meg. Akár élünk tehát, akár halunk, az Úré vagyunk.
9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.	9 Krisztus ugyanis azért halt meg és kelt életre, hogy a holtaknak is, az élőknek is Ura legyen.
10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God;	10 Miért ítéled meg hát testvéredet? És te miért veted meg testvéredet? Hiszen mindnyájan odaállunk majd Krisztus ítélőszéke elé.
11 for it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall give praise to God."	11 Mert írva van: »Életemre mondom – mondja az Úr –, minden térd meghajlik előttem, és minden nyelv magasztalja Istent«.
12 So each of us shall give account of himself to God.	12 Így tehát mindegyikünk magáról ad majd számot Istennek.
13 Then let us no more pass judgment on one another, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.	13 Ezért ne ítéljük el többé egymást, hanem inkább arra határozzátok el magatokat, hogy ne okozzatok a testvérnek megütközést vagy megbotránkozást!
14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but it is unclean for any one who thinks it unclean.	14 Tudom, és meggyőződésem az Úr Jézusban, hogy semmi sem tisztátalan önmagában; csak annak tisztátalan, aki tisztátalannak tartja.
15 If your brother is being injured by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. Do not let what you eat cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died.	15 De ha a testvéred elszomorodik az ételed miatt, akkor már nem a szeretetnek megfelelően jársz el. Ne veszítsd el ételeddel azt, akiért Krisztus meghalt!
16 So do not let your good be spoken of as evil.	16 Ne káromolják azt a jót, amelyben részesültetek!
17 For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit;	17 Isten országa ugyanis nem étel és nem ital dolga, hanem igazságosság, béke és öröm a Szentlélekben.
18 he who thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.	18 Aki ebben szolgál Krisztusnak, kedves az Isten előtt, és dicséretes az emberek előtt.
19 Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.	19 Azért tehát arra törekedjünk, ami békességre és egymás épülésére szolgál.
20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for any one to make others fall by what he eats;	20 Ne rontsd le az étel miatt Isten művét! Minden tiszta ugyan, de ártalmára lesz annak az embernek, aki botránkozást okozva eszi.
21 it is right not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that makes your brother stumble.	21 Jobb, ha nem eszel húst és nem iszol bort, sem egyebet nem teszel, ami miatt testvéred megütközik.
22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God; happy is he who has no reason to judge himself for what he approves.	22 A hitből eredő meggyőződésed maradjon a tied Isten előtt! Boldog, aki nem ítéli el magát azzal, amire elhatározza magát.
23 But he who has doubts is condemned, if he eats, because he does not act from faith; for whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.	23 Akinek azonban kétségei vannak, és mégis eszik, ítéletet von magára, mert cselekvése nem származik meggyőződésből. Bűn tehát mindaz, ami nem történik hitből eredő meggyőződésből.
