1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.	1 Brüder, ich wünsche von ganzem Herzen und bete zu Gott, dass sie gerettet werden.
2 I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but it is not enlightened.	2 Denn ich bezeuge ihnen, dass sie Eifer haben für Gott; aber es ist ein Eifer ohne Erkenntnis.
3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.	3 Da sie die Gerechtigkeit Gottes verkannten und ihre eigene aufrichten wollten, haben sie sich der Gerechtigkeit Gottes nicht unterworfen.
4 For Christ is the end of the law, that every one who has faith may be justified.	4 Denn Christus ist das Ende des Gesetzes und jeder, der an ihn glaubt, wird gerecht.
5 Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on the law shall live by it.	5 Mose schreibt: Wer sich an die Gesetzesgerechtigkeit hält in seinem Tun, wird durch sie leben.
6 But the righteousness based on faith says, Do not say in your heart, "Who will ascend into heaven?" (that is, to bring Christ down)	6 Die Glaubensgerechtigkeit aber spricht: Sag nicht in deinem Herzen: Wer wird in den Himmel hinaufsteigen? Das hieße: Christus herabholen.
7 or "Who will descend into the abyss?" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).	7 Oder: Wer wird in den Abgrund hinabsteigen? Das hieße: Christus von den Toten heraufführen.
8 But what does it say? The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach);	8 Was also sagt sie? Das Wort ist dir nahe, es ist in deinem Mund und in deinem Herzen. Gemeint ist das Wort des Glaubens, das wir verkündigen;
9 because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.	9 denn wenn du mit deinem Mund bekennst: «Jesus ist der Herr» und in deinem Herzen glaubst: «Gott hat ihn von den Toten auferweckt», so wirst du gerettet werden.
10 For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved.	10 Wer mit dem Herzen glaubt und mit dem Mund bekennt, wird Gerechtigkeit und Heil erlangen.
11 The scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame."	11 Denn die Schrift sagt: Wer an ihn glaubt, wird nicht zugrunde gehen.
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him.	12 Darin gibt es keinen Unterschied zwischen Juden und Griechen. Alle haben denselben Herrn; aus seinem Reichtum beschenkt er alle, die ihn anrufen.
13 For, "every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved."	13 Denn jeder, der den Namen des Herrn anruft, wird gerettet werden.
14 But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?	14 Wie sollen sie nun den anrufen, an den sie nicht glauben? Wie sollen sie an den glauben, von dem sie nichts gehört haben? Wie sollen sie hören, wenn niemand verkündigt?
15 And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!"	15 Wie soll aber jemand verkündigen, wenn er nicht gesandt ist? Darum heißt es in der Schrift: Wie sind die Freudenboten willkommen, die Gutes verkündigen!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?"	16 Doch nicht alle sind dem Evangelium gehorsam geworden. Denn Jesaja sagt: Herr, wer hat unserer Botschaft geglaubt?
17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ.	17 So gründet der Glaube in der Botschaft, die Botschaft im Wort Christi.
18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have; for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world."	18 Aber, so frage ich, haben sie die Boten etwa nicht gehört? Doch, sie haben sie gehört; denn ihre Stimme war in der ganzen Welt zu hören und ihr Wort bis an die Enden der Erde.
19 Again I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says, "I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; with a foolish nation I will make you angry."	19 Hat dann Israel, so frage ich, die Botschaft nicht verstanden? Zunächst antwortet Mose: Ich will euch eifersüchtig machen auf ein Volk, das kein Volk ist; auf ein unverständiges Volk will ich euch zornig machen.
20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, "I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me."	20 Und Jesaja wagt sogar zu sagen: Ich ließ mich finden von denen, die nicht nach mir suchten; ich offenbarte mich denen, die nicht nach mir fragten.
21 But of Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people."	21 Über Israel aber sagt er: Den ganzen Tag habe ich meine Hände ausgestreckt nach einem ungehorsamen und widerspenstigen Volk.
