Acts of the Apostles 14

1 Now at Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue, and so spoke that a great company believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.	1 En Iconio, Pablo y Bernabé entraron en la sinagoga de los judíos, como lo hacían habitualmente, y predicaron de tal manera que un gran número de judíos y paganos abrazaron la fe.
2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren.	2 Pero los judíos que no creyeron, incitaron a los paganos y los indispusieron en contra de los hermanos.
3 So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.	3 A pesar de todo, Pablo y Bernabé prolongaron su estadía y hablaban con toda libertad, confiados en el Señor que confirmaba el mensaje de su gracia, dándoles el poder de realizar signos y prodigios.
4 But the people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.	4 Los habitantes de la ciudad se dividieron en dos bandos, uno en favor de los judíos y otro en favor de los Apóstoles.
5 When an attempt was made by both Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to molest them and to stone them,	5 Pero como los paganos y los judíos, dirigidos por sus jefes, intentaron maltratar y apedrear a los Apóstoles,
6 they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country;	6 estos, al enterarse, huyeron a Listra y a Derbe, ciudades de Licaonia, y a sus alrededores;
7 and there they preached the gospel.	7 y allí anunciaron la Buena Noticia.
8 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting, who could not use his feet; he was a cripple from birth, who had never walked.	8 Había en Listra un hombre que tenía las piernas paralizadas. Como era tullido de nacimiento, nunca había podido caminar,
9 He listened to Paul speaking; and Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well,	9 y sentado, escuchaba hablar a Pablo. Este mirándolo fijamente, vio que tenía la fe necesaria para ser curado,
10 said in a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." And he sprang up and walked.	10 y le dijo en voz alta: «Levántate, y permanece erguido sobre tus pies». El se levantó de un salto y comenzó a caminar.
11 And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, "The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!"	11 Al ver lo que Pablo acababa de hacer, la multitud comenzó a gritar en dialecto licaonio: «Los dioses han descendido hasta nosotros en forma humana,
12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, because he was the chief speaker, they called Hermes.	12 y daban a Bernabé el nombre de Júpiter, y a Pablo el de Mercurio porque era el que llevaba la palabra.
13 And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and wanted to offer sacrifice with the people.	13 El sacerdote del templo de Júpiter que estaba a la entrada de la ciudad, trajo al atrio unos toros adornados de guirnaldas y, junto con la multitud, se disponía a sacrificarlos.
14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out among the multitude, crying,	14 Cuando Pablo y Bernabé se enteraron de esto, rasgaron sus vestiduras y se precipitaron en medio de la muchedumbre, gritando:
15 "Men, why are you doing this? We also are men, of like nature with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.	15 «Amigos, ¿qué están haciendo? Nosotros somos seres humanos como ustedes, y hemos venido a anunciarles que deben abandonar esos ídolos para convertirse al Dios viviente que hizo el cielo y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que hay en ellos.
16 In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways;	16 En los tiempos pasados, él permitió que las naciones siguieran sus propios caminos.
17 yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness."	17 Sin embargo, nunca dejó de dar testimonio de sí mismo, prodigando sus beneficios, enviando desde el cielo lluvias y estaciones fecundas, dando el alimento y llenando de alegría los corazones».
18 With these words they scarcely restrained the people from offering sacrifice to them.	18 Pero a pesar de todo lo que dijeron, les costó mucho impedir que la multitud les ofreciera un sacrificio
19 But Jews came there from Antioch and Iconium; and having persuaded the people, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.	19 Vinieron de Antioquía y de Iconio algunos judíos que lograron convencer a la multitud. Entonces apedrearon a Pablo y, creyéndolo muerto, lo arrastraron fuera de la ciudad.
20 But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city; and on the next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.	20 Pero él se levantó y, rodeado de sus discípulos, regresó a la ciudad. Al día siguiente, partió con Bernabé rumbo a Derbe.
21 When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,	21 Después de haber evangelizado esta ciudad y haber hechos numerosos discípulos, volvieron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía de Pisidia.
22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.	22 Confortaron a sus discípulos y los exhortaron a perseverar en la fe, recordándoles que es necesario pasar por muchas tribulaciones para entrar en el Reino de Dios.
23 And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed.	23 En cada comunidad establecieron presbíteros, y con oración y ayuno, los encomendaron al Señor en el que habían creído.
24 Then they passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.	24 Atravesaron Pisidia y llegaron a Panfilia.
25 And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;	25 Luego anunciaron la Palabra en Perge y descendieron a Atalía.
26 and from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.	26 Allí se embarcaron para Antioquía, donde habían sido encomendados a la gracia de Dios para realizar la misión que acababa de cumplir.
27 And when they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.	27 A su llegada, convocaron a los miembros de la Iglesia y les contaron todo lo que Dios había hecho con ellos y cómo había abierto la puerta de la fe a los paganos.
28 And they remained no little time with the disciples.	28 Después permanecieron largo tiempo con los discípulos.
