1 Now at Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue, and so spoke that a great company believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.	1 - E anche in Iconio avvenne che essi entrarono insieme nella sinagoga de' Giudei, e parlarono in maniera che una gran moltitudine di Giudei e di Greci credette.
2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren.	2 Ma i Giudei rimasti increduli, eccitarono e inasprirono gli animi de' Gentili contro i fratelli.
3 So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.	3 Essi nondimeno si fermaron parecchio tempo, predicando con franchezza, fiduciosi nel Signore, il quale confermava la parola della sua grazia, concedendo che per le loro mani si operassero miracoli e prodigi.
4 But the people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.	4 E la moltitudine della città si divise: chi stava per i Giudei, e chi per gli apostoli.
5 When an attempt was made by both Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to molest them and to stone them,	5 Ma, fattosi un tumulto di Gentili e di Giudei co' loro capi, a fin di oltraggiarli, e lapidarli,
6 they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country;	6 essi saputa la cosa, si rifugiarono nelle città della Licaonia, a Listri, a Derbe e ne' paesi all'intorno, e ivi evangelizzavano.
7 and there they preached the gospel.	7 Ora in Listri trovavasi un uomo infermo nei piedi, storpio sin dal seno materno, e che non aveva mai camminato.
8 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting, who could not use his feet; he was a cripple from birth, who had never walked.	8 Anch'egli udì Paolo che predicava, e che fissati in lui gli occhi e vedendo che aveva fede da esser guarito,
9 He listened to Paul speaking; and Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well,	9 disse ad alta voce: «Lèvati ritto su' tuoi piedi!». Egli saltò su e si mise a camminare.
10 said in a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." And he sprang up and walked.	10 Allora la folla, visto quel che Paolo aveva fatto, alzò la voce, dicendo in lingua licaonica: «Gli dèi han preso forma umana, e son discesi fino a noi».
11 And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, "The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!"	11 E Barnaba chiamavano Giove, Paolo invece Mercurio, essendo egli il primo a parlare.
12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, because he was the chief speaker, they called Hermes.	12 Di più: il sacerdote di Giove, ch'era all'entrata della città, menò de' tori con delle ghirlande dinanzi alle porte, e voleva col popolo, offrir loro un sacrificio.
13 And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and wanted to offer sacrifice with the people.	13 Ma gli apostoli Barnaba e Paolo, udito ciò, si stracciaron le vesti, e si gettarono in mezzo alla folla, gridando:
14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out among the multitude, crying,	14 «Uomini, perchè fate questo? Anche noi siam de' mortali, uomini simili a voi, e vi predichiamo che da queste cose vane vi convertiate al Dio vivente, che ha fatto il cielo e la terra e il mare, e tutte le cose che sono in essi.
15 "Men, why are you doing this? We also are men, of like nature with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.	15 Egli, nel tempo passato, lasciò per le loro vie tutte le nazioni;
16 In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways;	16 pur facendosi riconoscere ne' suoi benefizi, mandando dal cielo piogge e stagioni fruttifere, dando nutrimento in abbondanza, empiendo di letizia i nostri cuori».
17 yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness."	17 Anche parlando così, a mala pena potettero ritrarre la folla dall'offrir loro un sacrificio.
18 With these words they scarcely restrained the people from offering sacrifice to them.	18 Ma giunsero ad Antiochia e da Iconio certi Giudei, che sobillarono le turbe; le quali lapidarono Paolo e lo trascinarono fuori della città, credendo che fosse morto.
19 But Jews came there from Antioch and Iconium; and having persuaded the people, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.	19 Corsero i discepoli intorno a lui, ed egli, alzatosi, rientrò in città; e il giorno seguente partì con Barnaba per Derbe.
20 But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city; and on the next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.	20 Evangelizzato che ebbero questa città, e fatti molti discepoli, furon di nuovo a Listri, a Iconio, ad Antiochia,
21 When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,	21 confortando le anime di tutti, ed esortando tutti a star fermi nella fede, e dicendo loro che al regno di Dio s'arriva attraverso molte tribolazioni.
22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.	22 E dopo avere, con preghiere e digiuni, ordinato de' presbiteri per essi in ciascuna chiesa, li raccomandarono al Signore, nel quale avevano creduto.
23 And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed.	23 Poi traversata la Pisidia, vennero in Panfilia;
24 Then they passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.	24 poi, annunciata la parola del Signore in Perge, scesero al mare, ad Attalia;
25 And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;	25 e di lì fecero vela per Antiochia, donde erano stati affidati alla grazia di Dio per l'opera che avevano a compiere.
26 and from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.	26 Al loro arrivo, adunarono la chiesa, e raccontarono le grandi cose che Dio aveva fatto con essi, e come aveva aperta ai Gentili la porta della fede.
27 And when they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.	27 E si trattennero non poco tempo coi discepoli.
28 And they remained no little time with the disciples.
