Deuteronomy 10

1 "At that time the LORD said to me, 'Hew two tables of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood.	1 In quel tempo il Signore mi disse: Sega due tavole di pietra simili alle prime, e sali da me sul monte: e fa' un'arca di legno,
2 And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.'	2 E io scriverò su queste tavole le parole, che erano sopra quelle che tu hai già spezzate, e le riporrai nell'arca.
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, and hewed two tables of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tables in my hand.	3 Feci adunque l'arca di legno di Setim. E avendo segato due tavole di pietra simili alle prime, salii sul monte con esse in mano.
4 And he wrote on the tables, as at the first writing, the ten commandments which the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly; and the LORD gave them to me.	4 E il Signore scrisse su queste tavole, conforme avea scritto sulle prime, i dieci comandamenti, i quali egli annunziò a voi dal monte di mezzo al fuoco, allorché il popolo era adunato: e le diede a me.
5 Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as the LORD commanded me.	5 E tornai, e scesi dal monte, e riposi le tavole nell’arca, ch'io aveva fatta, dove sono tuttora, come aveami ordinato il Signore.
6 (The people of Israel journeyed from Be-eroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; and his son Eleazar ministered as priest in his stead.	6 Or i figliuoli d'Israele levarono il campo da Beroth, che era de' figliuoli di Jacan, andando a Mosera, dove Aronne si morì, e fu sepolto, in luogo del quale successe Eleazaro suo figliuolo alle funzioni del sacerdozio.
7 From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with brooks of water.	7 Di là passarono a Gadgad: dal qual luogo partirono, e posero gli alloggiamenti in Jete- batha, in una terra di acque e di torrenti.
8 At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him and to bless in his name, to this day.	8 In quel tempo il Signore separò la tribù di Levi, affinché questa portasse l’arca del testamento del Signore, e fosse assidua al ministero dinanzi a lui, e desse la benedizione nel nome di lui, come fa sino al dì d'oggi.
9 Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance, as the LORD your God said to him.)	9 Per la qual cosa non ebbe Levi veruna porzione, o possessione co' suoi fratelli: perché il Signore stesso è la loro porzione, come a lui promise il Signore Dio tuo.
10 "I stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the LORD hearkened to me that time also; the LORD was unwilling to destroy you.	10 E io mi stetti sul monte come prima per quaranta dì, e quaranta notti: e il Signore mi esaudì anche questa volta, e non volle sterminarti.
11 And the LORD said to me, 'Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.'	11 E dissemi: Va', e precedi il popolo, affinché entri a posseder la terra, ch'io giurai di dare a' padri loro.
12 "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,	12 E adesso, o Israele, che è quello che il Signore Dio tuo chiede da te, se non che tu tema il Signore Dio tuo, e cammini nelle sue vie, e lo ami, e serva al Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta l’anima tua,
13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I command you this day for your good?	13 E osservi i comandamenti del Signore, e le sue cerimonie, le quali io oggi prescrivo a te, affinché tu sii felice?
14 Behold, to the LORD your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it;	14 Tu sai, come del Signore Dio tuo è il cielo, e il cielo de' cieli, la terra, e tutte le cose, che sono in essa:
15 yet the LORD set his heart in love upon your fathers and chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as at this day.	15 E nondimeno co’ padri tuoi si strinse il Signore, e gli amò, ed elesse la lor discendenza dopo di essi, cioè voi tra tutte le genti, come oggi apparisce.
16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.	16 Circoncidetevi adunque colla circoncisione del cuore, e non indurate più la vostra cervice:
17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.	17 Perocché il Signore Dio vostro egli è il Dio degli dei, e Signore de' dominanti, Dio grande e possente e terribile, che non è accettator di persone, o di doni.
18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.	18 Ei fa giustizia al pupillo e alla vedova, ama il forestiero, e gli dà il vitto, e il vestito:
19 Love the sojourner therefore; for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.	19 Voi pure adunque amate i forestieri, perché ancor voi foste forestieri nella terra d'Egitto.
20 You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve him and cleave to him, and by his name you shall swear.	20 Temerai il Signore Dio tuo, e a lui solo servirai: starai unito con lui, e nel nome di lui farai giuramento.
21 He is your praise; he is your God, who has done for you these great and terrible things which your eyes have seen.	21 Egli è tua gloria, e tuo Dio, egli ha fatto per te le cose grandi e terribili, che hai vedute cogli occhi tuoi.
22 Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of heaven for multitude.	22 In numero di settanta anime scesero i padri tuoi in Egitto: ed ecco che ora il Signore Dio tuo ti ha moltiplicato come le stelle del cielo.
