1 And when he returned to Caperna-um after some days, it was reported that he was at home.	1 E dopo quei giorni entrò nuovamente in Cafarnao,
2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the door; and he was preaching the word to them.	2 e risaputosi che era in casa, si radunò tanta gente da non poter entrare nello spazio davanti all'uscio; e predicava loro la parola.
3 And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.	3 E vennero a portargli un paralitico sostenuto da quattro.
4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay.	4 E non potendoglielo presentare per la calca, scoprirono il tetto dalla parte ove egli stava; e fatta un'apertura, calarono il lettuccio in cui giaceva il paralitico.
5 And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven."	5 E Gesù, veduta la loro fede, disse al paralitico: Figliolo, ti son rimessi i tuoi peccati.
6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts,	6 V'eran lì a sedere degli Scribi, i quali pensavano in cuor loro:
7 "Why does this man speak thus? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"	7 Perché parla così? Costui bestemmia. Chi può mai perdonare i peccati, se non Dio solo?
8 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts?	8 Avendo Gesù conosciuto nel suo spirito che in tal modo ragionavan dentro di sè, disse loro: Perchè pensate queste cose nei vostri cuori?
9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say,' Rise, take up your pallet and walk?	9 che è più facile dire al paralitico: ti son rimessi i peccati, oppure dirgli: alzati, prendi il tuo letto e cammina?
10 But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he said to the paralytic--	10 Or affinchè sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha potere in terra di rimettere i peccati,
11 "I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home."	11 dico a te (disse al paralitico): alzati, prendi il tuo lettuccio e vattene a casa.
12 And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"	12 E quello s'alzò subito, e preso il suo lettuccio, se n'andò a vista di tutti; in modo che tutti maravigliati glorificavano Dio, esclamando: Giammai vedemmo una cosa come questa.
13 He went out again beside the sea; and all the crowd gathered about him, and he taught them.	13 E Gesù tornò verso il mare; e tutto il popolo andava a lui e li ammaestrava.
14 And as he passed on, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, "Follow me." And he rose and followed him.	14 E nel passare, vide Levi d'Alfeo, seduto al banco della gabella e gli disse: Seguimi. Ed egli, alzatosi, lo seguì.
15 And as he sat at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were sitting with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him.	15 E avvenne che, essendo Gesù a tavola in casa di lui, molti pubblicani e peccatori erano a tavola con Gesù e con i suoi discepoli: chè erano in molti a seguirlo.
16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"	16 Or gli Scribi ed i Farisei, vedutolo a mangiar coi pubblicani e peccatori, dicevano ai suoi discepoli: Come mai il vostro Maestro mangia e beve coi pubblicani e i peccatori?
17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."	17 E Gesù, avendoli sentiti, disse loro: Non han bisogno del medico i sani; ma i malati, e non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori.
18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and people came and said to him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?"	18 Or i discepoli di Giovanni e i Farisei, che solevano digiunare, vennero da Gesù a dirgli: Perchè i discepoli di Giovanni e quelli dei Farisei digiunano e i tuoi non digiunano?
19 And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.	19 E Gesù rispose loro: Possono forse gli amici dello sposo digiunare, mentre con essi è lo sposo? Finché l'han seco non possono digiunare.
20 The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.	20 Verranno poi i giorni in cui sarà loro tolto, ed allora digiuneranno.
21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; if he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made.	21 Nessuno cuce un pezzo di panno nuovo su vestito vecchio; chè altrimenti la toppa nuova strappa del vecchio e lo sdruscio si fa maggiore.
22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins; but new wine is for fresh skins."	22 E nessuno mette il vino nuovo in otri vecchi, altrimenti il vino rompe gli otri e si versa, e gli otri vanno a male, ma il vino nuovo va messo in otri nuovi.
23 One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain.	23 E avvenne ancora che il Signore passasse di sabato per i seminati e che i suoi discepoli, cammin facendo, cogliessero delle spighe.
24 And the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?"	24 Ma i Farisei gli dicevano: Ecco, perchè fanno ciò che di sabato non è lecito fare?
25 And he said to them, "Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him:	25 Rispose loro: Non avete mai letto quel che fece David trovan dosi in necessità, quando con quelli che eran con lui ebbe fame?
26 how he entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?"	26 Come entrò nella casa di Dio, sotto il sommo sacerdote Abiatar, mangiò i pani della Proposizione, dei quali non era lecito cibarsi che ai soli sacerdoti, e ne dette a quanti eran con lui?
27 And he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath;	27 Poi disse loro: Il sabato è stato fatto per l'uomo e non l'uomo per il sabato.
28 so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath."	28 Del resto il Figlio dell'uomo è padrone anche del sabato.
