1 Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple.	1 Comme Jésus sortait du Temple pour s’en aller, ses disciples s’approchèrent et lui firent admirer les bâtiments du Temple.
2 But he answered them, "You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down."	2 Mais il leur dit: "Vous voyez tout cela? En vérité, je vous le dis, il ne restera pas ici pierre sur pierre: tout sera détruit.”
3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?"	3 Un peu plus tard, comme Jésus s’était assis au Mont des Oliviers, ses disciples vinrent lui demander en particulier: "Dis-nous quand cela aura lieu, et quel sera le signe de ta venue et de la fin des temps.”
4 And Jesus answered them, "Take heed that no one leads you astray.	4 Jésus prit la parole et leur dit: "Ne vous laissez pas égarer
5 For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray.	5 lorsque plusieurs revendiqueront mon titre et diront: Je suis le Messie. Ils égareront bien des gens.
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet.	6 Vous entendrez parler de guerres et de rumeurs de guerre; ne cédez pas à la panique. Cela doit arriver, mais ce ne sera pas encore la fin.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places:	7 On verra des soulèvements: peuple contre peuple et nation contre nation. Il y aura des famines et des tremblements de terre en divers lieux,
8 all this is but the beginning of the birth-pangs.	8 mais tout cela ne sera que le début, les premières douleurs.
9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and put you to death; and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.	9 “Alors vous serez dénoncés et persécutés et l’on vous fera mourir, et vous serez haïs de tous les peuples à cause de mon nom.
10 And then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another.	10 Beaucoup alors chuteront; ils se dénonceront les uns les autres et se haïront.
11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.	11 De faux prophètes se présenteront qui égareront bien des gens,
12 And because wickedness is multiplied, most men's love will grow cold.	12 et le mal se généralisera de telle sorte que chez beaucoup l’amour se refroidira.
13 But he who endures to the end will be saved.	13 Mais celui qui tiendra bon jusqu’à la fin sera sauvé.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come.	14 “L’Évangile du Royaume sera proclamé dans le monde entier: toutes les nations en recevront l’annonce, et alors viendra la fin.
15 "So when you see the desolating sacrilege spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),	15 “Quand vous verrez ce que dit le prophète Daniel: l’abomination du dévastateur installée dans le lieu saint (que le lecteur comprenne!),
16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;	16 alors, fuyez à la montagne vous qui êtes en Judée.
17 let him who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house;	17 Si tu es sur la terrasse de ta maison, ne redescends pas prendre tes affaires;
18 and let him who is in the field not turn back to take his mantle.	18 si tu es aux champs, ne reviens pas chercher ton vêtement.
19 And alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days!	19 Ce sera grande malchance pour une femme que d’être enceinte ou d’allaiter en ces jours-là!
20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a sabbath.	20 Demandez à Dieu de n’avoir pas à fuir en hiver ou un jour de sabbat.
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.	21 “Car ce sera une très grande épreuve, comme il n’y en a pas eu depuis le début du monde jusqu’à maintenant et comme il n’en arrivera plus.
22 And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.	22 Si le temps n’en était pas abrégé, personne n’en sortirait vivant, mais Dieu a abrégé ces jours par égard pour ses élus.
23 Then if any one says to you, 'Lo, here is the Christ!' or 'There he is!' do not believe it.	23 “Alors, si l’on vous dit que le Messie est ici ou là, ne le croyez pas.
24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.	24 Car de faux messies et de faux prophètes se présenteront; ils feront voir de grands signes et des prodiges au point d’égarer s’il était possible, même les élus.
25 Lo, I have told you beforehand.	25 Mais je vous ai prévenus.
26 So, if they say to you, 'Lo, he is in the wilderness,' do not go out; if they say, 'Lo, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.	26 Si donc on vous dit: ‘Il est là-bas au désert’, n’y partez pas; ‘Le voilà du côté des grottes’, ne le croyez pas.
27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man.	27 “Voyez comment l’éclair part de l’orient et enflamme le ciel jusqu’à l’occident: ce sera pareil à la venue du Fils de l’Homme.
28 Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.	28 Là où le corps est tombé, là se rassemblent les vautours.”
29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;	29 “Mais après l’épreuve de ces jours-là, le soleil s’obscurcira, la lune ne donnera plus sa clarté, les étoiles tomberont du ciel et les forces cosmiques seront déréglées.
30 then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory;	30 “Alors apparaîtra dans le ciel le signe du Fils de l’Homme, et toutes les races de la terre se frapperont la poitrine quand elles verront le Fils de l’Homme venant sur les nuées du ciel avec puissance et grande gloire.
31 and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.	31 Il enverra ses anges avec une trompette sonore pour rassembler ses élus des quatre points de l’horizon, du plus lointain de l’univers.
32 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.	32 “Écoutez cette leçon tirée du figuier. Lorsque sa ramure redevient souple et que des feuilles lui poussent, vous savez que l’été est proche;
33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.	33 vous de même, quand vous verrez tout cela, sachez que c’est tout proche, sur le pas de la porte.
34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place.	34 En vérité, je vous le dis, cette génération ne passera pas que tout cela n’arrive.
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.	35 Le ciel et la terre passeront, mes paroles ne passeront pas.
36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.	36 “Quant à ce Jour, et quand ce sera l’heure, personne ne sait rien, pas même les anges dans le ciel, pas même le Fils: seul le Père.
37 As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man.	37 “La venue du Fils de l’Homme rappellera le temps de Noé.
38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark,	38 Quelques jours encore avant le déluge, les gens mangeaient, ils buvaient, hommes et femmes se mariaient, jusqu’au jour où Noé entra dans l’arche.
39 and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man.	39 Ils n’ont rien su jusqu’à ce que vienne le déluge, et il les a tous emportés. Ce sera pareil pour la venue du Fils de l’Homme.
40 Then two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left.	40 Alors, de deux hommes dans un même champ, l’un sera pris, l’autre laissé.
41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left.	41 De deux femmes qui tournent la meule côte à côte, l’une sera prise, l’autre laissée.”
42 Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.	42 “Veillez donc, car vous ne savez pas à quelle heure de la nuit vient votre Seigneur.
43 But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into.	43 Pensez-y: si le maître de maison savait quand, cette nuit, viendra le voleur, il resterait éveillé et ne le laisserait pas percer son mur.
44 Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.	44 Soyez donc prêts, vous aussi, car le Fils de l’Homme vient à l’heure que vous ne savez pas.
45 "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?	45 “Imaginez un serviteur, digne de confiance et capable. Son seigneur lui a donné la responsabilité des gens de sa maison et c’est lui qui leur donne la nourriture en temps voulu.
46 Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing.	46 Heureux ce serviteur si son seigneur en rentrant le trouve occupé à faire ce qu’il doit.
47 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.	47 En vérité, je vous le dis, il lui confiera tout ce qui lui appartient.
48 But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is delayed,'	48 “Par contre le mauvais serviteur se dit en lui-même: ‘Mon seigneur sera en retard.’
49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with the drunken,	49 Et il commence à frapper ses compagnons de service, il mange et boit avec les buveurs.
50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know,	50 Mais le seigneur viendra le jour où son serviteur ne l’attendait pas, et à l’heure qu’il n’avait pas prévue.
51 and will punish him, and put him with the hypocrites; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.	51 Il lui enlèvera sa charge et le mettra avec les irresponsables. Là il y aura pleurs et grincements de dents.”
