Matthew 10

1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity.	1 E chiamati a sè i dodici suoi discepoli, diede loro il potere di cacciare gli spiriti immondi e di curare ogni languore ed ogni malattia.
2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;	2 I nomi dei dodici Apostoli sono i seguenti: il primo Simone, detto Pietro, e Andrea suo fratello;
3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;	3 Giacomo di Zebedeo e Giovanni suo fratello; Filippo e Bartolomeo; Tommaso e Matteo il pubblicano; Giacomo d'Alfeo e Taddeo;
4 Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.	4 Simone il Cananeo e Giuda Iscariota, che lo tradì.
5 These twelve Jesus sent out, charging them, "Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans,	5 Questi dodici inviò Gesù, ordinando loro così: Non andate fra i Gentili e non entrate nelle città dei Samaritani;
6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.	6 ma andate piuttosto alle pecorelle sperdute della casa d'Israele;
7 And preach as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'	7 e nel vostro cammino, predicate dicendo: II regno dei cieli è vicino.
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying, give without pay.	8 Guarite gli infermi, risuscitate i morti, mondate i lebbrosi, scacciate i demoni: gratis avete ricevuto e gratis date.
9 Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts,	9 Non vogliate portare nè oro, nè argento, nè moneta, nelle vostre cinture,
10 no bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the laborer deserves his food.	10 non sacca da viaggio, nè due vesti, nè calzari, nè bastone, perchè l'operaio è degno del suo nutrimento.
11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it, and stay with him until you depart.	11 In qualunque città o villaggio entrerete, informatevi chi vi sia che lo meriti e dimorate presso di lui, finché non partiate.
12 As you enter the house, salute it.	12 All'entrar poi nella casa, salutatela con dire: Pace a questa casa.
13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.	13 E se la casa ne è degna, verrà la vostra pace sopra di essa, se poi non ne è degna, la vostra pace tornerà a voi.
14 And if any one will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town.	14 E se alcuno non vi riceve e non ascolta le vostre parole, uscendo da quella casa e da quella città scotete la polvere dai vostri piedi.
15 Truly, I say to you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.	15 In verità vi dico: nel giorno del giudizio, Sodoma e Gomorra saran punite meno di quella città.
16 "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.	16 Ecco, io vi mando come pecore in mezzo ai lupi; siate adunque prudenti come serpenti e semplici come le colombe.
17 Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues,	17 Guardatevi però dagli uomini. Perchè vi metteranno in mano dei tribunali e vi flagelleranno nelle loro sinagoghe,
18 and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles.	18 e sarete menati davanti a presidi e a re per cagion mia, per rendere testimonianza ad essi ed alle nazioni.
19 When they deliver you up, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour;	19 E quando sarete nelle loro mani, non vi mettete in pena del come rispondere o di ciò che avrete a dire; perchè in quel punto vi saran date le parole.
20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.	20 Poi chè non siete voi che parlate, ma lo Spirito del Padre vostro che parla in voi.
21 Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death;	21 Ora, il fratello darà a morte il fratello, e il padre il figlio; e insorgeranno i figli contro i genitori e li faranno morire:
22 and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.	22 e sarete odiati da tutti a causa del mio nome; ma chi avrà perseverato sino alla fine sarà salvo.
23 When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes.	23 E quando vi perseguiteranno in una città, fuggite in un'altra. In verità vi dico, non finirete di percorrere le città d'Israele prima che venga il Figlio dell'uomo.
24 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master;	24 Il discepolo non è da più del maestro, nè il servo da più del suo padrone.
25 it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Be-elzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.	25 Basti al discepolo d'esser come il maestro, e al servo d'esser come il padrone. Se han chiamato Belzebub il padrone di casa, quanto più i domestici di lui?
26 "So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.	26 Non li temete adunque, poiché non c'è niente di nascosto che non s'abbia a rivelare e niente di segreto che non s'abbia a sapere.
27 What I tell you in the dark, utter in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops.	27 Quel che vi dico nelle tenebre ditelo nella luce, e quello che v'è sussurrato nell'orecchio predicatelo sui tetti.
28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.	28 E non temete coloro che uccidono il corpo, ma non possono uccidere l'anima: temete piuttosto co lui che può mandare in perdizione e l'anima e il corpo nell'inferno.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's will.	29 Non si vendono forse due passeri per un soldo? Eppure nemmeno uno di essi cadrà in terra senza il volere del Padre vostro.
30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.	30 Persino i capelli del vostro capo sono tutti contati.
31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.	31 Non temete dunque; voi siete dappiù di molti passeri.
32 So every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven;	32 Chi dunque mi riconoscerà davanti agli uomini, anch'io lo riconoscerò davanti al Padre mio che è nei cieli;
33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.	33 ma chi mi rinnegherà dinanzi agli uomini, lo rinnegherò anch'io dinanzi al Padre mio che è nei cieli.
34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.	34 Non pensate che io sia venuto a metter pace sulla terra. Non son venuto a mettere la pace, ma la spada.
35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;	35 Perchè son venuto a dividere il figlio dal padre, la figlia dalla madre, la nuora dalla suocera;
36 and a man's foes will be those of his own household.	36 e i nemici dell'uomo saran quelli di casa.
37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;	37 Chi ama il padre e la madre più di me, non è degno di me; e chi ama il figlio e la figlia più di me, non è degno di me.
38 and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.	38 E chi non prende la sua croce e non mi segue, non è degno di me.
39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.	39 Chi tien conto della sua vita, la perderà; e chi avrà perduta la sua vita per amor mio, la ritroverà.
40 "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.	40 Chi riceve voi, riceve me, e chi riceve me, riceve colui che mi ha mandato.
41 He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.	41 Chi riceve un profeta qual profeta, riceverà premio da profeta; e chi riceve un giusto come giusto, riceverà premio da giusto.
42 And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."	42 E chi avrà dato da bere, anche un solo bicchiere d'acqua fresca, ad uno di questi piccoli, perchè mio discepolo, in verità vi dico, non perderà la sua ricompensa.
