1 These are the generations of Aaron and Moses at the time when the LORD spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.
2 These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the first-born, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar;	2 Voici les noms des fils d'Aaron: Nadab, l'aîné, puis Abihu, Eléazar, Itamar.
3 these are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he ordained to minister in the priest's office.	3 Tels sont les noms des fils d'Aaron, prêtres qui reçurent l'onction et que l'on investit pour exercerle sacerdoce.
4 But Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD when they offered unholy fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests in the lifetime of Aaron their father.	4 Nadab et Abihu moururent devant Yahvé, dans le désert du Sinaï, lorsqu'ils présentèrent devant luiun feu irrégulier. Ils n'avaient pas eu d'enfants, et c'est Eléazar et Itamar qui exercèrent le sacerdoce en présenced'Aaron leur père.
5 And the LORD said to Moses,	5 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
6 "Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him.	6 "Fais avancer la tribu de Lévi et mets-la à la disposition d'Aaron le prêtre: ils seront à son service.
7 They shall perform duties for him and for the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, as they minister at the tabernacle;	7 Ils assumeront la charge qui lui incombe, ainsi qu'à toute la communauté, devant la Tente duRendez-vous, en faisant le service de la Demeure.
8 they shall have charge of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, and attend to the duties for the people of Israel as they minister at the tabernacle.	8 Ils auront soin de tout le mobilier de la Tente du Rendez-vous, et ils assumeront la charge quiincombe aux Israélites en faisant le service de la Demeure.
9 And you shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they are wholly given to him from among the people of Israel.	9 Tu donneras à Aaron et à ses fils les Lévites, à titre de donnés; ils lui seront donnés par lesIsraélites.
10 And you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall attend to their priesthood; but if any one else comes near, he shall be put to death."	10 Tu enregistreras Aaron et ses fils, qui rempliront leur charge sacerdotale. Mais tout profane quis'approchera sera mis à mort."
11 And the LORD said to Moses,	11 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
12 "Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the people of Israel instead of every first-born that opens the womb among the people of Israel. The Levites shall be mine,	12 "Vois. Moi, j'ai choisi les Lévites au milieu des Israélites, à la place de tous les premiers-nés, deceux qui chez les Israélites ouvrent le sein maternel; ces Lévites sont donc à moi.
13 for all the first-born are mine; on the day that I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for my own all the first-born in Israel, both of man and of beast; they shall be mine: I am the LORD."	13 Car tout premier-né m'appartient. Le jour où j'ai frappé tous les premiers-nés en terre d'Egypte, jeme suis consacré tous les premiers-nés en Israël, aussi bien ceux des hommes que ceux du bétail. Ils sont à moi;je suis Yahvé."
14 And the LORD said to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai,	14 Yahvé parla à Moïse dans le désert du Sinaï, et dit:
15 "Number the sons of Levi, by fathers' houses and by families; every male from a month old and upward you shall number."	15 "Tu recenseras les fils de Lévi par familles et par clans; ce sont tous les mâles, depuis l'âge d'unmois et au-dessus, que tu recenseras."
16 So Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he was commanded.	16 Sur l'ordre de Yahvé, Moïse les recensa, comme Yahvé le lui avait ordonné.
17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon and Kohath and Merari.	17 Voici les noms des fils de Lévi: Gershôn, Qehat et Merari.
18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Libni and Shime-i.	18 Voici les noms des fils de Gershôn, par clans: Libni et Shiméï;
19 And the sons of Kohath by their families: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.	19 les fils de Qehat, par clans: Amram, Yiçhar, Hébrôn et Uzziel;
20 And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites, by their fathers' houses.	20 les fils de Merari, par clans: Mahli et Mushi. Tels sont les clans de Lévi, groupés en familles.
21 Of Gershon were the family of the Libnites and the family of the Shime-ites; these were the families of the Gershonites.	21 De Gershôn relevaient le clan Libnite et le clan Shiméite. Ce sont les clans Gershonites;
22 Their number according to the number of all the males from a month old and upward was seven thousand five hundred.	22 le nombre total des mâles recensés, depuis l'âge d'un mois et au-dessus, fut pour eux de 7.500.
23 The families of the Gershonites were to encamp behind the tabernacle on the west,	23 Les clans Gershonites campaient derrière la Demeure, à l'occident.
24 with Eliasaph, the son of Lael as head of the fathers' house of the Gershonites.	24 Le prince de la maison de Gershôn était Elyasaph, fils de Laël.
25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting was to be the tabernacle, the tent with its covering, the screen for the door of the tent of meeting,	25 Les fils de Gershôn avaient, dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, la charge de la Demeure, de la Tenteet de sa couverture, du voile d'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous,
26 the hangings of the court, the screen for the door of the court which is around the tabernacle and the altar, and its cords; all the service pertaining to these.	26 des rideaux du parvis, du voile d'entrée du parvis qui entoure la Demeure et l'autel, enfin descordages nécessaires à tout ce service.
27 Of Kohath were the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites; these are the families of the Kohathites.	27 De Qehat relevaient les clans Amramite, Yiçharite, Hébronite et Uzziélite. Ce sont les clansQehatites;
28 According to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, there were eight thousand six hundred, attending to the duties of the sanctuary.	28 le nombre total des mâles recensés, depuis l'âge d'un mois et au-dessus, fut pour eux de 41.500.Ils étaient chargés du sanctuaire.
29 The families of the sons of Kohath were to encamp on the south side of the tabernacle,	29 Les clans Qehatites campaient sur le côté méridional de la Demeure.
30 with Eli-zaphan the son of Uzziel as head of the fathers' house of the families of the Kohathites.	30 Le prince de la maison des clans Qehatites était Eliçaphân, fils d'Uzziel.
31 And their charge was to be the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the vessels of the sanctuary with which the priests minister, and the screen; all the service pertaining to these.	31 Ils avaient la charge de l'arche, de la table du candélabre, des autels, des objets sacrés pourofficier, du voile avec tout son appareil.
32 And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest was to be chief over the leaders of the Levites, and to have oversight of those who had charge of the sanctuary.	32 Le prince des princes de Lévi était Eléazar, fils d'Aaron le prêtre. Il exerçait la surveillance surceux qui avaient la charge du sanctuaire.
33 Of Merari were the family of the Mahlites and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.	33 De Merari relevaient le clan Mahlite et le clan Mushite. Ce sont les clans Merarites;
34 Their number according to the number of all the males from a month old and upward was six thousand two hundred.	34 le nombre total des mâles recensés, depuis l'âge d'un mois et au-dessus, fut pour eux de 6.200.
35 And the head of the fathers' house of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail; they were to encamp on the north side of the tabernacle.	35 Le prince de la maison des clans Merarites était Curiel, fils d'Abihayil. Ils campaient sur le côtéseptentrional de la Demeure.
36 And the appointed charge of the sons of Merari was to be the frames of the tabernacle, the bars, the pillars, the bases, and all their accessories; all the service pertaining to these;	36 Les fils de Merari avaient la charge des cadres de la Demeure, de ses traverses, de ses colonnes etde ses socles, de tous ses accessoires et de tout son appareil,
37 also the pillars of the court round about, with their bases and pegs and cords.	37 ainsi que des colonnes qui entourent le parvis, de leurs socles, de leurs piquets et de leurscordages.
38 And those to encamp before the tabernacle on the east, before the tent of meeting toward the sunrise, were Moses and Aaron and his sons, having charge of the rites within the sanctuary, whatever had to be done for the people of Israel; and any one else who came near was to be put to death.	38 Enfin campaient à l'est devant la Demeure, devant la Tente du Rendez-vous à l'orient, Moïse,Aaron et ses fils, qui avaient la charge du sanctuaire au nom des Israélites. Tout profane qui s'approcherait devaitêtre mis à mort.
39 All who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the LORD, by families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty-two thousand.	39 Le total des Lévites recensés, que Moïse dénombra par clans sur l'ordre de Yahvé, le nombre desmâles depuis l'âge d'un mois et au-dessus, fut de 22.000.
40 And the LORD said to Moses, "Number all the first-born males of the people of Israel, from a month old and upward, taking their number by names.	40 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Fais le recensement de tous les premiers-nés mâles des Israélites, depuisl'âge d'un mois et au-dessus; fais le compte de leurs noms.
41 And you shall take the Levites for me--I am the LORD--instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the people of Israel."	41 Puis, à la place des premiers-nés d'Israël, tu m'attribueras, à moi Yahvé, les Lévites, et de mêmeleur bétail à la place des premiers-nés du bétail des Israélites."
42 So Moses numbered all the first-born among the people of Israel, as the LORD commanded him.	42 Comme Yahvé le lui avait ordonné, Moïse recensa tous les premiers-nés des Israélites.
43 And all the first-born males, according to the number of names, from a month old and upward as numbered were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.	43 Le recensement des noms des premiers-nés, depuis l'âge d'un mois et au-dessus, donna le nombretotal de 22.273.
44 And the LORD said to Moses,	44 Alors Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
45 "Take the Levites instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD.	45 "Prends les Lévites à la place de tous les premiers-nés des Israélites, et le bétail des Lévites à laplace de leur bétail; les Lévites seront à moi, à moi Yahvé.
46 And for the redemption of the two hundred and seventy-three of the first-born of the people of Israel, over and above the number of the male Levites,	46 Pour le rachat des 273 premiers-nés des Israélites qui excèdent le nombre des Lévites,
47 you shall take five shekels apiece; reckoning by the shekel of the sanctuary, the shekel of twenty gerahs, you shall take them,	47 tu prendras cinq sicles par tête; tu les prendras selon le sicle du sanctuaire, à vingt géras le sicle.
48 and give the money by which the excess number of them is redeemed to Aaron and his sons."	48 Puis, tu donneras cet argent à Aaron et à ses fils pour le rachat de ceux qui sont en excédent."
49 So Moses took the redemption money from those who were over and above those redeemed by the Levites;	49 Moïse reçut cet argent pour le rachat de ceux que le nombre insuffisant des Lévites ne rachetaitpoint.
50 from the first-born of the people of Israel he took the money, one thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels, reckoned by the shekel of the sanctuary;	50 Il reçut l'argent des premiers-nés des Israélites, 1.365 sicles, selon le sicle du sanctuaire.
51 and Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.	51 Moïse versa l'argent de cette rançon à Aaron et à ses fils, sur l'ordre de Yahvé, comme Yahvél'avait commandé à Moïse.
