1 These are the generations of Aaron and Moses at the time when the LORD spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.	1 Esta era la descendencia de Aarón y de Moisés, cuando Yahveh habló a Moisés en el monte Sinaí.
2 These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the first-born, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar;	2 Estos eran los nombres de los hijos de Aarón: Nadab, el primogénito, Abihú, Eleazar e Itamar.
3 these are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he ordained to minister in the priest's office.	3 Estos eran los nombres de los hijos de Aarón, que fueron ungidos sacerdotes, y cuyas manos fueron consagradas para ejercer el sacerdocio.
4 But Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD when they offered unholy fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests in the lifetime of Aaron their father.	4 Nadab y Abihú murieron delante de Yahveh, al presentar un fuego profano delante de Yahveh en el desierto del Sinaí. Como no tenían hijos, fueron Eleazar e Itamar los que ejercieron el sacerdocio en presencia de su padre Aarón.
5 And the LORD said to Moses,	5 Yahveh habló a Moisés y le dijo:
6 "Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him.	6 «Manda que se acerque la tribu de Leví y ponlos delante del sacerdote Aarón, que estén a su servicio.
7 They shall perform duties for him and for the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, as they minister at the tabernacle;	7 Se encargarán de las obligaciones que incumben a él y a toda la comunidad ante la Tienda del Encuentro, prestando el servicio en la Morada.
8 they shall have charge of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, and attend to the duties for the people of Israel as they minister at the tabernacle.	8 Cuidarán de todos los utensilios de la Tienda del Encuentro, de las obligaciones que incumben a los israelitas prestando servicio en la Morada.
9 And you shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they are wholly given to him from among the people of Israel.	9 Donarás los levitas a Aarón y a sus hijos en concepto de donados. Le serán donados de parte de los israelitas.
10 And you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall attend to their priesthood; but if any one else comes near, he shall be put to death."	10 A Aarón y a sus hijos los alistarás para que se encarguen de sus funciones sacerdotales. El laico que se acerque, será muerto.»
11 And the LORD said to Moses,	11 Yahveh habló a Moisés y le dijo:
12 "Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the people of Israel instead of every first-born that opens the womb among the people of Israel. The Levites shall be mine,	12 «Mira que he elegido a los levitas de entre los demás israelitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas que abren el seno materno. Los levitas serán para mí.
13 for all the first-born are mine; on the day that I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for my own all the first-born in Israel, both of man and of beast; they shall be mine: I am the LORD."	13 Porque todo primogénito me pertenece. El día en que herí a todos los primogénitos de Egipto, consagré para mí a todos los primogénitos de Israel, tanto de hombre como de ganado. Son para mí. Yo, Yahveh.»
14 And the LORD said to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai,	14 Habló Yahveh a Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí. Le dijo:
15 "Number the sons of Levi, by fathers' houses and by families; every male from a month old and upward you shall number."	15 «Alista a los hijos de Leví por familias y por clanes: alistarás a todo varón de un mes para arriba.»
16 So Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he was commanded.	16 Moisés los alistó según la orden de Yahveh, tal como Yahveh se lo había mandado.
17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon and Kohath and Merari.	17 Los nombres de los hijos de Leví son: Guersón, Quehab y Merarí.
18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Libni and Shime-i.	18 Los nombres de los hijos de Ghersón, por clanes, son: Libní y Semeí.
19 And the sons of Kohath by their families: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.	19 Los hijos de Quehat, por clanes: Amram, Yishar, Hebrón y Uzziel;
20 And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites, by their fathers' houses.	20 los hijos de Merarí, por clanes: Majlí y Musí. Estos son los clanes de Leví, repartidos por familias.
21 Of Gershon were the family of the Libnites and the family of the Shime-ites; these were the families of the Gershonites.	21 De Guesón procedían el clan libnita y el clan semeíta: ésos son los clanes guersonitas.
22 Their number according to the number of all the males from a month old and upward was seven thousand five hundred.	22 El total de los alistados, contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba: 7.500.
23 The families of the Gershonites were to encamp behind the tabernacle on the west,	23 Los clanes guersonitas acampaban detrás de la Morada, al poniente.
24 with Eliasaph, the son of Lael as head of the fathers' house of the Gershonites.	24 El principal de la casa paterna de Guersón era Elyasaf, hijo de Lael.
25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting was to be the tabernacle, the tent with its covering, the screen for the door of the tent of meeting,	25 Los hijos de Guersón estaban encargados, en la Tienda del Encuentro, de la Morada, de la Tienda, de su toldo y del tapiz de entrada a la Tienda del Encuentro;

27 Of Kohath were the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites; these are the families of the Kohathites.	27 De Quehat procedían el clan amramita, el clan yisharita, el clan hebronita y el clan uzzielita: ésos son los clanes quehatitas.
28 According to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, there were eight thousand six hundred, attending to the duties of the sanctuary.	28 Contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba, eran 8.300. Tenían a su cargo el servicio del santuario.
29 The families of the sons of Kohath were to encamp on the south side of the tabernacle,	29 Los clanes quehatitas acampaban al lado meridional de la Morada.
30 with Eli-zaphan the son of Uzziel as head of the fathers' house of the families of the Kohathites.	30 El principal de la casa paterna de los clanes quehatitas era Elisafán, hijo de Uzziel.
31 And their charge was to be the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the vessels of the sanctuary with which the priests minister, and the screen; all the service pertaining to these.	31 A su cargo estaban el arca, la mesa, el candelabro, los altares, los objetos sagrados que se usan en el culto, el velo y todo su servicio.
32 And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest was to be chief over the leaders of the Levites, and to have oversight of those who had charge of the sanctuary.	32 El principal de los principales de Leví era Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón. Ejercía la supervisión de todos los encargados del santuario.
33 Of Merari were the family of the Mahlites and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.	33 De Merarí, el clan majlita y el clan musita: ésos eran los clanes meraritas .
34 Their number according to the number of all the males from a month old and upward was six thousand two hundred.	34 Sus alistados, contando todos los varones de un mes para arriba, eran 6.200.
35 And the head of the fathers' house of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail; they were to encamp on the north side of the tabernacle.	35 El principal de la casa paterna de los clanes meraritas era Suriel, hijo de Abijayil. Acampaban al lado septentrional de la Morada.
36 And the appointed charge of the sons of Merari was to be the frames of the tabernacle, the bars, the pillars, the bases, and all their accessories; all the service pertaining to these;	36 A los hijos de Merarí les estaba encomendado el cuidado de los tableros de la Morada, de sus travesaños, postes y basas, de todos sus utensilios y todo su servicio;
37 also the pillars of the court round about, with their bases and pegs and cords.	37 y de los postes que rodean el atrio, de sus basas, clavazón y cuerdas.
38 And those to encamp before the tabernacle on the east, before the tent of meeting toward the sunrise, were Moses and Aaron and his sons, having charge of the rites within the sanctuary, whatever had to be done for the people of Israel; and any one else who came near was to be put to death.	38 Acampaban al este, frente a la Morada, delante de la Tienda del Encuentro hacia oriente, Moisés y Aarón con sus hijos que estaban encargados del santuario en nombre de los israelitas. 39 All who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the LORD, by families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty-two thousand.	39 El total de levitas alistados, de los que registró Moisés por clanes, siguiendo la orden de Yahveh, de todos los varones de un mes para arriba: 22.000.
40 And the LORD said to Moses, "Number all the first-born males of the people of Israel, from a month old and upward, taking their number by names.	40 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Registra a todos los primogénitos varones de los israelitas, de un mes para arriba, y anota sus nombres.
41 And you shall take the Levites for me--I am the LORD--instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the people of Israel."	41 Luego, tomas a los levitas para mí, Yahveh, en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas; y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos del ganado de los israelitas.»
42 So Moses numbered all the first-born among the people of Israel, as the LORD commanded him.	42 Moisés registró, según le había ordenado Yahveh, a todos los primogénitos de los israelitas.
43 And all the first-born males, according to the number of names, from a month old and upward as numbered were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.	43 Y resultó ser el total de los primogénitos varones, contando los nombres desde la edad de un mes para arriba, según el censo, 22.273.
44 And the LORD said to Moses,	44 Habló entonces Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo:
45 "Take the Levites instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD.	45 «Toma a los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de su ganado; los levitas serán míos, yo Yahveh.
46 And for the redemption of the two hundred and seventy-three of the first-born of the people of Israel, over and above the number of the male Levites,	46 Por el rescate de los 273 primogénitos de los israelitas que exceden del número de los levitas,
47 you shall take five shekels apiece; reckoning by the shekel of the sanctuary, the shekel of twenty gerahs, you shall take them,	47 tomarás cinco siclos por cabeza, en siclos del santuario, a razón de veinte óbolos por siclo.
48 and give the money by which the excess number of them is redeemed to Aaron and his sons."	48 La plata se la entregarás a Aarón y a sus hijos, por el rescate de los que sobrepasan el número.»
49 So Moses took the redemption money from those who were over and above those redeemed by the Levites;	49 Moisés tomó la plata del rescate de los que pasaban del número de los rescatados por los levitas.
50 from the first-born of the people of Israel he took the money, one thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels, reckoned by the shekel of the sanctuary;	50 Tomó la plata de los primogénitos de Israel: 1.365 siclos, en siclos del santuario.
51 and Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.	51 Y entregó Moisés la plata del rescate a Aarón y a sus hijos, según la orden de Yahveh, como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés.
