Ezekiel 23

1 The word of the LORD came to me:	1 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 "Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother;	2 Fils d'homme, il était une fois deux femmes, filles d'une même mère.
3 they played the harlot in Egypt; they played the harlot in their youth; there their breasts were pressed and their virgin bosoms handled.	3 Elles se prostituèrent en Egypte; dès leur jeunesse, elles se prostituèrent. C'est là qu'on a porté lamain sur leur poitrine, là qu'on a caressé leur sein virginal.
4 Oholah was the name of the elder and Oholibah the name of her sister. They became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.	4 Voici leurs noms: Ohola l'aînée, Oholiba sa soeur. Elles furent à moi et elles enfantèrent des fils etdes filles. Leurs noms: Ohola, c'est Samarie, Oholiba, c'est Jérusalem.
5 "Oholah played the harlot while she was mine; and she doted on her lovers the Assyrians,	5 Or Ohola se prostitua alors qu'elle m'appartenait. Elle s'éprit de ses amants, les Assyriens, sesvoisins,
6 warriors clothed in purple, governors and commanders, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses.	6 vêtus de pourpre, gouverneurs et magistrats, tous jeunes et séduisants, habiles cavaliers.
7 She bestowed her harlotries upon them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them; and she defiled herself with all the idols of every one on whom she doted.	7 Elle leur accorda ses faveurs - c'était toute l'élite des Assyriens - et chez tous ceux dont elles'éprit, elle se souilla au contact de toutes leurs ordures.
8 She did not give up her harlotry which she had practiced since her days in Egypt; for in her youth men had lain with her and handled her virgin bosom and poured out their lust upon her.	8 Elle n'a pas renié ses prostitutions commencées en Egypte, quand ils avaient couché avec elle dèssa jeunesse, caressé son sein virginal en lui prodiguant leurs débauches.
9 Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.	9 Aussi l'ai-je livrée aux mains de ses amants, aux mains des Assyriens dont elle s'était éprise:
10 These uncovered her nakedness; they seized her sons and her daughters; and her they slew with the sword; and she became a byword among women, when judgment had been executed upon her.	10 ce sont eux qui ont dévoilé sa nudité, qui ont pris ses fils et ses filles, et elle-même, ils l'ont faitpérir par l'épée. Elle fut célèbre parmi les femmes, car on en avait fait justice.
11 "Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet she was more corrupt than she in her doting and in her harlotry, which was worse than that of her sister.	11 Sa soeur Oholiba en fut témoin, mais elle éprouva une passion plus scandaleuse encore, et sesprostitutions furent pires que les prostitutions de sa soeur.
12 She doted upon the Assyrians, governors and commanders, warriors clothed in full armor, horsemen riding on horses, all of them desirable young men.	12 Elle s'éprit des Assyriens, gouverneurs et magistrats, ses voisins, vêtus magnifiquement, habilescavaliers, tous jeunes et séduisants.
13 And I saw that she was defiled; they both took the same way.	13 Et je vis qu'elle s'était souillée, que toutes les deux avaient eu la même conduite.
14 But she carried her harlotry further; she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed in vermilion,	14 Elle ajouta à ses prostitutions: ayant vu des hommes gravés sur le mur, images de Chaldéenscolorées au vermillon,
15 girded with belts on their loins, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them looking like officers, a picture of Babylonians whose native land was Chaldea.	15 portant des ceinturons autour des reins et de larges turbans sur la tête, ayant tous la prestanced'un écuyer, représentant les Babyloniens originaires de Chaldée,
16 When she saw them she doted upon them, and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.	16 elle s'éprit d'eux au premier regard et leur envoya des messagers en Chaldée.
17 And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their lust; and after she was polluted by them, she turned from them in disgust.	17 Et les Babyloniens vinrent à elle pour partager le lit nuptial et la souiller de leurs prostitutions.Et quand elle eut été souillée par eux, elle se détourna d'eux.
18 When she carried on her harlotry so openly and flaunted her nakedness, I turned in disgust from her, as I had turned from her sister.	18 Mais elle s'afficha dans ses prostitutions, elle dévoila sa nudité; alors je me suis détourné d'ellecomme je m'étais détourné de sa soeur.
19 Yet she increased her harlotry, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the harlot in the land of Egypt	19 Elle a multiplié ses prostitutions en souvenir de sa jeunesse, lorsqu'elle se prostituait au paysd'Egypte,
20 and doted upon her paramours there, whose members were like those of asses, and whose issue was like that of horses.	20 qu'elle s'y éprenait de ses débauchés dont la vigueur est comme celle des ânes et le rut commecelui des étalons.
21 Thus you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when the Egyptians handled your bosom and pressed your young breasts."	21 Tu recherchais l'inconduite de ta jeunesse, du temps où, en Egypte, on caressait ton sein enportant la main sur ta poitrine juvénile.
22 Therefore, O Oholibah, thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I will rouse against you your lovers from whom you turned in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side:	22 Eh bien! Oholiba, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Voici que je vais dresser contre toi tes amantsdont tu t'es détournée; je vais les ramener contre toi de tous côtés,
23 the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them, desirable young men, governors and commanders all of them, officers and warriors, all of them riding on horses.	23 les Babyloniens et tous les Chaldéens, ceux de Peqod, de Shoa et de Qoa, et tous les Assyriensavec eux, jeunes et séduisants, tous gouverneurs et magistrats, tous écuyers renommés et habiles cavaliers.
24 And they shall come against you from the north with chariots and wagons and a host of peoples; they shall set themselves against you on every side with buckler, shield, and helmet, and I will commit the judgment to them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments.	24 Du nord viendront contre toi chars et chariots, avec un rassemblement de peuples. De tous côtés,ils t'opposeront le bouclier, l'écu et le casque. Je les chargerai de ton jugement, et ils te jugeront selon leur droit.
25 And I will direct my indignation against you, that they may deal with you in fury. They shall cut off your nose and your ears, and your survivors shall fall by the sword. They shall seize your sons and your daughters, and your survivors shall be devoured by fire.	25 Je dirigerai ma jalousie contre toi, ils te traiteront avec fureur, ils t'arracheront le nez et lesoreilles, et ce qui restera des tiens tombera par l'épée; ils prendront eux-mêmes tes fils et tes filles et ce quirestera de toi sera dévoré par le feu.
26 They shall also strip you of your clothes and take away your fine jewels.	26 Ils te dépouilleront de tes vêtements et s'empareront de tes ornements.
27 Thus I will put an end to your lewdness and your harlotry brought from the land of Egypt; so that you shall not lift up your eyes to the Egyptians or remember them any more.	27 Je mettrai fin à ton inconduite et à tes prostitutions commencées en Egypte; tu ne lèveras plus lesyeux vers eux et tu ne te souviendras plus de l'Egypte.
28 For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will deliver you into the hands of those whom you hate, into the hands of those from whom you turned in disgust;	28 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Voici que je te livre aux mains de ceux que tu détestes, auxmains de ceux dont tu t'es détournée.
29 and they shall deal with you in hatred, and take away all the fruit of your labor, and leave you naked and bare, and the nakedness of your harlotry shall be uncovered. Your lewdness and your harlotry	29 Ils te traiteront haineusement, ils s'empareront de tout le fruit de ton travail et te laisseront toutenue. Ainsi sera dévoilée la honte de tes prostitutions, de tes impudicités et de ton inconduite.
30 have brought this upon you, because you played the harlot with the nations, and polluted yourself with their idols.	30 Ils te feront cela parce que tu t'es prostituée avec les nations en te souillant avec leurs ordures.
31 You have gone the way of your sister; therefore I will give her cup into your hand.	31 Tu as imité la conduite de ta soeur, je mettrai sa coupe dans ta main.
32 Thus says the Lord GOD: "You shall drink your sister's cup which is deep and large; you shall be laughed at and held in derision, for it contains much;	32 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: Tu boiras la coupe de ta soeur, coupe profonde et large, qui ferarire et se moquer tant sa contenance est grande.
33 you will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow. A cup of horror and desolation, is the cup of your sister Samaria;	33 Tu seras remplie d'ivresse et de douleur. Coupe de désolation et de dévastation, la coupe de tasoeur Samarie!
34 you shall drink it and drain it out, and pluck out your hair, and tear your breasts; for I have spoken, says the Lord GOD.	34 Tu la boiras, tu la videras, puis tu en mordras les morceaux et tu te déchireras le sein. Car moij'ai parlé, oracle du Seigneur Yahvé.
35 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, therefore bear the consequences of your lewdness and harlotry."	35 C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Parce que tu m'as oublié et que tu m'as rejetéderrière toi, porte, toi aussi, le poids de ton infamie et de tes prostitutions.
36 The LORD said to me: "Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominable deeds.	36 Et Yahvé me dit: Fils d'homme, veux-tu juger Ohola et Oholiba et leur reprocher leursabominations?
37 For they have committed adultery, and blood is upon their hands; with their idols they have committed adultery; and they have even offered up to them for food the sons whom they had borne to me.	37 Elles ont été adultères, leurs mains sont ensanglantées, elles ont commis l'adultère avec leursordures. Quant aux enfants qu'elles m'avaient enfantés, elles les ont fait passer par le feu pour les consumer.
38 Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary on the same day and profaned my sabbaths.	38 Elles m'ont encore fait ceci: elles ont souillé mon sanctuaire en ce jour, et profané mes sabbats.
39 For when they had slaughtered their children in sacrifice to their idols, on the same day they came into my sanctuary to profane it. And lo, this is what they did in my house.	39 Et tout en immolant leurs enfants à leurs ordures, elles sont allées, le même jour, à monsanctuaire pour le profaner. Voilà ce qu'elles ont fait dans ma propre maison.
40 They even sent for men to come from far, to whom a messenger was sent, and lo, they came. For them you bathed yourself, painted your eyes, and decked yourself with ornaments;	40 Bien plus, elles ont fait appeler des hommes venant de loin, invités par un messager, et ils sontvenus: Pour eux tu t'es baignée, tu t'es fardé les yeux, tu as mis tes bijoux,
41 you sat upon a stately couch, with a table spread before it on which you had placed my incense and my oil.	41 tu t'es assise sur un lit d'apparat, devant lequel une table était dressée où on avait mis monencens et mon huile.
42 The sound of a carefree multitude was with her; and with men of the common sort drunkards were brought from the wilderness; and they put bracelets upon the hands of the women, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.	42 On y entendait la voix d'une foule insouciante, à cause de la multitude d'hommes, de buveursamenés du désert; ils ont mis des bracelets aux mains des femmes et une couronne splendide sur leur tête.
43 "Then I said, Do not men now commit adultery when they practice harlotry with her?	43 Et je me disais: cette femme usée par les adultères, maintenant on use de ses prostitutions à elleaussi,
44 For they have gone in to her, as men go in to a harlot. Thus they went in to Oholah and to Oholibah to commit lewdness.	44 et on vient chez elle comme chez une prostituée. C'est ainsi qu'on est venu chez Ohola etOholiba, ces femmes dépravées.
45 But righteous men shall pass judgment on them with the sentence of adulteresses, and with the sentence of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is upon their hands."	45 Mais il y a des hommes justes qui les jugeront comme on juge les adultères et comme on jugecelles qui répandent le sang, car elles sont adultères et leurs mains sont ensanglantées.
46 For thus says the Lord GOD: "Bring up a host against them, and make them an object of terror and a spoil.	46 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Que l'on convoque contre elles une assemblée et qu'on les livre àla terreur et au pillage;
47 And the host shall stone them and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses.	47 l'assemblée les lapidera et les frappera de l'épée, on tuera leurs fils et leurs filles et on mettra lefeu à leurs maisons.
48 Thus will I put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not commit lewdness as you have done.	48 Je purgerai le pays de l'infamie; toutes les femmes seront ainsi averties et n'imiteront plus votreinfamie.
49 And your lewdness shall be requited upon you, and you shall bear the penalty for your sinful idolatry; and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD."	49 On fera retomber sur vous votre infamie, vous porterez le poids des péchés commis avec vosordures et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Yahvé.
