Jeremiah 50

1 The word which the LORD spoke concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by Jeremiah the prophet:	1 La parola che Jahvè comunicò contro Babilonia, contro la regione dei Caldei per mezzo del profeta Geremia.
2 "Declare among the nations and proclaim, set up a banner and proclaim, conceal it not, and say: 'Babylon is taken, Bel is put to shame, Merodach is dismayed. Her images are put to shame, her idols are dismayed.'	2 «Proclamatelo fra i popoli e banditelo; non nascondetelo, dite: “È presa Babilonia, Bel è coperto di confusione, è sgomento Marduch”; sono confusi i suoi idoli, sono sgomenti i suoi pupazzi.
3 "For out of the north a nation has come up against her, which shall make her land a desolation, and none shall dwell in it; both man and beast shall flee away.	3 Poiché dal nord sale contro di essa un popolo, che ridurrà la sua terra una desolazione, senza nessun abitante; dagli uomini agli animali, fuggono, se ne vanno.
4 "In those days and in that time, says the LORD, the people of Israel and the people of Judah shall come together, weeping as they come; and they shall seek the LORD their God.	4 In quei giorni e in quel tempo verranno i figli di Israele insieme con i figli di Giuda; cammineranno piangendo e cercheranno Jahvè loro Dio.
5 They shall ask the way to Zion, with faces turned toward it, saying, 'Come, let us join ourselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant which will never be forgotten.'	5 Domanderanno di Sion verso cui sono fissi i loro volti: “Venite, uniamoci a Jahvè con un’alleanza eterna, che non sia mai dimenticata”.
6 "My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray, turning them away on the mountains; from mountain to hill they have gone, they have forgotten their fold.	6 Il mio popolo era un gregge di pecore sperdute, i loro pastori le avevano sviate, le avevano smarrite su per i monti; esse andavano di monte in colle, avevano dimenticato il loro ovile.
7 All who found them have devoured them, and their enemies have said, 'We are not guilty, for they have sinned against the LORD, their true habitation, the LORD, the hope of their fathers.'	7 Quanti le trovavano, le divoravano. I loro nemici dicevano: “Non commettiamo delitto, perché peccarono contro Jahvè, pascolo di giustizia e speranza dei loro padri”.
8 "Flee from the midst of Babylon, and go out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as he-goats before the flock.	8 Fuggite di mezzo a Babilonia, dalla regione dei Caldei uscite e siate come becchi davanti al gregge.
9 For behold, I am stirring up and bringing against Babylon a company of great nations, from the north country; and they shall array themselves against her; from there she shall be taken. Their arrows are like a skilled warrior who does not return empty-handed.	9 Poiché, ecco, suscito e faccio salire contro Babilonia un’adunata di grandi nazioni dalla terra del nord; queste le si schiereranno contro, così che essa sarà presa. Le loro frecce sono come quelle di un abile arciere, nessuna ritorna a vuoto.
10 Chaldea shall be plundered; all who plunder her shall be sated, says the LORD.	10 La Caldea sarà depredata, tutti i suoi depredatori saranno saziati. Oracolo di Jahvè.
11 "Though you rejoice, though you exult, O plunderers of my heritage, though you are wanton as a heifer at grass, and neigh like stallions,	11 Sì, gioite; sì, tripudiate, saccheggiatori della mia eredità! Sì, saltate come giovenchi su un prato e nitrite come stalloni!
12 your mother shall be utterly shamed, and she who bore you shall be disgraced. Lo, she shall be the last of the nations, a wilderness dry and desert.	12 La vostra madre è svergognata, coperta d’onta colei che vi ha generato. Ecco, essa è l’ultima delle nazioni, un deserto, un luogo riarso e una solitudine.
13 Because of the wrath of the LORD she shall not be inhabited, but shall be an utter desolation; every one who passes by Babylon shall be appalled, and hiss because of all her wounds.	13 A causa dell’ira di Jahvè non sarà più abitata, sarà tutta quanta una desolazione. Chiunque passerà vicino a Babilonia stupirà e schernirà, fischiando, tutte le sue piaghe.
14 Set yourselves in array against Babylon round about, all you that bend the bow; shoot at her, spare no arrows, for she has sinned against the LORD.	14 Disponetevi tutt'intorno a Babilonia, o voi tutti che tirate l’arco; tirate contro di essa, non risparmiate le frecce, poiché essa ha peccato contro Jahvè.
15 Raise a shout against her round about, she has surrendered; her bulwarks have fallen, her walls are thrown down. For this is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance on her, do to her as she has done.	15 Levate grida intorno a essa. Essa alza la mano, crollano le sue torri, rovinano le sue mura, poiché questa è la vendetta di Jahvè. Vendicatevi di lei; trattatela come essa ha trattato gli altri!
16 Cut off from Babylon the sower, and the one who handles the sickle in time of harvest; because of the sword of the oppressor, every one shall turn to his own people, and every one shall flee to his own land.	16 Sterminate in Babilonia colui che semina e colui che impugna la falce al momento della messe. 17 "Israel is a hunted sheep driven away by lions. First the king of Assyria devoured him, and now at last Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has gnawed his bones.	17 Una pecora smarrita è Israele, i leoni le hanno dato la caccia; per primo l’ha divorata il re di Assiria, quindi il re di Babilonia ne ha stritolato le ossa.
18 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria.	18 Perciò, dice Jahvè degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: “Ecco, punirò il re di Babilonia e il suo paese, come ho già punito il re di Assiria;
19 I will restore Israel to his pasture, and he shall feed on Carmel and in Bashan, and his desire shall be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.	19 mentre ricondurrò Israele nel suo pascolo, pascolerà sul Carmelo e su Bashan; sui monti di Efraim e di Galaad si sazierà”.
20 In those days and in that time, says the LORD, iniquity shall be sought in Israel, and there shall be none; and sin in Judah, and none shall be found; for I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.	20 “In quei giorni e in quel tempo — oracolo di Jahvè — si cercherà l’iniquità di Israele, ma essa non sarà più, i peccati di Giuda, ma non si troveranno perché io perdonerò a quanti farò sopravvivere”.
21 "Go up against the land of Merathaim, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Slay, and utterly destroy after them, says the LORD, and do all that I have commanded you.	21 “Avanza nella terra di Merataim; avanza contro di essa e contro gli abitanti di Pekod. Devasta, annientali — oracolo di Jahvè — eseguisci quanto ti ho comandato!
22 The noise of battle is in the land, and great destruction!	22 Rumore di guerra nella regione, una grande rovina.
23 How the hammer of the whole earth is cut down and broken! How Babylon has become a horror among the nations!	23 Come mai si è rotto e spezzato il martello di tutta la terra? Come mai si è ridotta una desolazione Babilonia fra le nazioni?
24 I set a snare for you and you were taken, O Babylon, and you did not know it; you were found and caught, because you strove against the LORD.	24 Ti hanno teso un laccio e sei stata presa, o Babilonia, senza avvedertene. Sei stata trovata e afferrata, perché hai dichiarato guerra a Jahvè”.
25 The LORD has opened his armory, and brought out the weapons of his wrath, for the Lord GOD of hosts has a work to do in the land of the Chaldeans.	25 Jahvè ha aperto il suo arsenale e ne ha tratto le armi del suo sdegno, perché Jahvè Dio degli eserciti ha un’opera da compiere nella terra dei Caldei.
26 Come against her from every quarter; open her granaries; pile her up like heaps of grain, and destroy her utterly; let nothing be left of her.	26 Venite a essa dall’estremo limite, aprite i suoi granai; ammucchiatela come covoni, sterminatela, non ne rimanga neppure un resto.
27 Slay all her bulls, let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them, for their day has come, the time of their punishment.	27 Uccidete tutti i suoi tori, scendano giù al macello. Guai a loro, perché è giunto il loro giorno, il tempo del loro castigo!
28 "Hark! they flee and escape from the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, vengeance for his temple.	28 Voce di profughi e di scampati dalla regione di Babilonia per annunciare in Sion la vendetta di Jahvè nostro Dio, la vendetta per il suo tempio.
29 "Summon archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. Encamp round about her; let no one escape. Requite her according to her deeds, do to her according to all that she has done; for she has proudly defied the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.	29 Convocate in Babilonia gli arcieri, tutti coloro che tirano l’arco. Accampatevi intorno a essa. in modo che nessuno scampi. Rendetele secondo le sue opere, secondo ciò che essa ha fatto agli altri, perché è stata arrogante con Jahvè con il Santo di Israele.
30 Therefore her young men shall fall in her squares, and all her soldiers shall be destroyed on that day, says the LORD.	30 Pertanto, cadranno i suoi giovani nelle sue piazze e tutti i suoi uomini di guerra periranno in quel giorno. Oracolo di Jahvè.
31 "Behold, I am against you, O proud one, says the Lord GOD of hosts; for your day has come, the time when I will punish you.	31 «Eccomi a te, o arrogante, — oracolo di Jahvè degli eserciti — poiché è giunto il tuo giorno, il tempo del tuo castigo.
32 The proud one shall stumble and fall, with none to raise him up, and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it will devour all that is round about him.	32 Vacillerà l’arrogante e cadrà, non ci sarà chi lo rialzi. Io darò alle fiamme le sue città, esse divoreranno tutti i suoi dintorni.
33 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah with them; all who took them captive have held them fast, they refuse to let them go.	33 Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Oppressi sono i figli di Israele e i figli di Giuda; tutti i loro deportatori li trattengono, rifiutano di lasciarli andare”.
34 Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name. He will surely plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, but unrest to the inhabitants of Babylon.	34 Ma il loro vendicatore è forte; Jahvè degli eserciti è il suo nome. Egli difenderà la loro causa, per acquietare la terra e turbare gli abitanti di Babilonia.
35 "A sword upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes and her wise men!	35 Spada sulla Caldea e sugli abitanti di Babilonia, sui suoi capi e sui suoi saggi!
36 A sword upon the diviners, that they may become fools! A sword upon her warriors, that they may be destroyed!	36 Spada sui suoi mentitori: essi impazziscano! Spada sui suoi prodi: atterriscano!
37 A sword upon her horses and upon her chariots, and upon all the foreign troops in her midst, that they may become women! A sword upon all her treasures, that they may be plundered!	37 Spada sui suoi cavalli e sui suoi carri, su tutto il popolo misto che è in mezzo a essa: diventino donne! Spada sui suoi tesori: siano depredati!
38 A drought upon her waters, that they may be dried up! For it is a land of images, and they are mad over idols.	38 Spada sulle acque: si prosciughino! Poiché un paese di idoli essa è, si esaltano per gli spauracchi!
39 "Therefore wild beasts shall dwell with hyenas in Babylon, and ostriches shall dwell in her; she shall be peopled no more for ever, nor inhabited for all generations.	39 Perciò vi si stabiliranno animali del desertoe sciacalli, vi si stabiliranno gli struzzi; non sarà mai più abitata, né popolata di generazione in generazione.
40 As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbor cities, says the LORD, so no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn in her.	40 Come quando Dio sconvolse Sodoma, Gomorra e le città vicine — oracolo di Jahvè — così nessuno vi abiterà né vi dimorerà il figlio dell’uomo.
41 "Behold, a people comes from the north; a mighty nation and many kings are stirring from the farthest parts of the earth.	41 Ecco, un popolo viene dal nord, un popolo grande e.molti re sorgono dalle estremità della terra.
42 They lay hold of bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy. The sound of them is like the roaring of the sea; they ride upon horses, arrayed as a man for battle against you, O daughter of Babylon!	42 Impugnano arco e dardo, sono crudeli, non hanno pietà; il loro grido è come il mugghio del mare. Montano cavalli, son pronti, come un sol uomo, a combattere contro di te, figlia di Babilonia.
43 "The king of Babylon heard the report of them, and his hands fell helpless; anguish seized him, pain as of a woman in travail.	43 Il re di Babilonia ha udito la loro fama, le sue mani si sono infiacchite; lo ha colto l’angoscia, un dolore come di partoriente.
44 "Behold, like a lion coming up from the jungle of the Jordan against a strong sheepfold, I will suddenly make them run away from her; and I will appoint over her whomever I choose. For who is like me? Who will summon me? What shepherd can stand before me?	44 Ecco, come un leone sale dalla boscaglia del Giordano verso i prati irrigui, così in un baleno io li farò fuggire di là e io porrò il mio eletto su di essa; poiché chi è come me? Chi mi citerà in giudizio? Quale pastore resisterà al mio cospetto?
45 Therefore hear the plan which the LORD has made against Babylon, and the purposes which he has formed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the little ones of their flock shall be dragged away; surely their fold shall be appalled at their fate.	45 Per questo ascoltate il progetto che Jahvè ha progettato contro Babilonia e le decisioni che ha preso contro il paese dei Caldei. Certo, saranno trascinati via anche i piccoli del gregge, certo, sarà desolato per essi il loro pascolo.
46 At the sound of the capture of Babylon the earth shall tremble, and her cry shall be heard among the nations."	46 Al fragore della presa di Babilonia trema la terra, se ne odono le grida fra le nazioni».
