Jeremiah 39

1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and besieged it;	1 Il nono anno di Sedecia re di Giuda, nel decimo mese, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia venne con tutto il suo esercito a Gerusalemme e la fece assediare.
2 in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.	2 E l'anno undecimo di Sedecia, nel quarto mese, ai cinque del mese, la città fu presa.
3 When Jerusalem was taken, all the princes of the king of Babylon came and sat in the middle gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, with all the rest of the officers of the king of Babylon.	3 E v'entrarono tutti i principi del re di Babilonia, e si stabilirono alla porta di mezzo: Neregel, Sereser, Semegarnabu, Sarsachim, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag, e tutti gli altri principi del re di Babilonia.
4 When Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled, going out of the city at night by way of the king's garden through the gate between the two walls; and they went toward the Arabah.	4 Quando Sedecia re di Giuda e tutta la gente di guerra li ebbero veduti, fuggirono, e di notte tempo usciron dalla città per la strada del giardino del re, per la porta che era tra i due muri, e presero la via del deserto.
5 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, at Riblah, in the land of Hamath; and he passed sentence upon him.	5 Ma l'esercito dei Caldei tenne loro dietro, e raggiunse Sedecia nella deserta campagna di Gerico. 7 He put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters to take him to Babylon.	7 Fece poi cavar gli occhi a Sedecia, e lo mise in ceppi, per farlo condurre a Babilonia.
8 The Chaldeans burned the king's house and the house of the people, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.	8 I Caldei diedero alle fiamme la casa del re e le case del popolo, ed abbatteron le mura di Gerusalemme.
9 Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, carried into exile to Babylon the rest of the people who were left in the city, those who had deserted to him, and the people who remained.	9 Nabuzardan capo dei soldati trasportò a Babilonia il resto del popolo rimasto nella città, e i disertori che si eran rifugiati presso di lui, e gli avanzi del volgo che era rimasto.

14 sent and took Jeremiah from the court of the guard. They entrusted him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, that he should take him home. 18 For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but you shall have your life as a prize of war, because you have put your trust in me, says the LORD.'"	18 In ogni maniera io ti libererò, e tu non perirai di spada, ma salverai la tua vita, perchè hai riposta la fiducia in me — dice il Signore ».
