Jeremiah 39

1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and besieged it;	1 - Nell'anno nono di Sedecia, re di Giuda, nel decimo mese, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia con tutto il suo esercito venne a Gerusalemme e la strinse di assedio.
2 in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.	2 E nell'anno undecimo di Sedecia, nel quarto mese, ai cinque del mese, il muro della città fu sfondato.
3 When Jerusalem was taken, all the princes of the king of Babylon came and sat in the middle gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, with all the rest of the officers of the king of Babylon.	3 E tutti i principi del re di Babilonia entrarono e si fermarono alla porta di mezzo: Neregel, Sereser, Semegarnabu, Sarsachim, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag e tutti gli altri principi del re di Babilonia.
4 When Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled, going out of the city at night by way of the king's garden through the gate between the two walls; and they went toward the Arabah.	4 Vedutili Sedecia re di Giuda e tutti gli altri combattenti, fuggirono e col favor della notte, per la via del giardino del re, e per la porta che era tra i due muri, uscirono dalla città verso la via del deserto.
5 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, at Riblah, in the land of Hamath; and he passed sentence upon him.	5 Ma la soldatesca dei Caldei li inseguì, e raggiunto Sedecia nella campagna deserta di Gerico e presolo, lo condusse a Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, in Reblata che è nella regione di Emat, il quale pronunziò la sua sentenza.

7 He put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters to take him to Babylon.	7 fece poi cavare gli occhi a Sedecia, e lo caricò di catene per essere condotto in Babilonia.
8 The Chaldeans burned the king's house and the house of the people, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.	8 I Caldei inoltre diedero alle fiamme il palazzo del re e le case dei privati e smantellarono le mura di Gerusalemme.
9 Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, carried into exile to Babylon the rest of the people who were left in the city, those who had deserted to him, and the people who remained.	9 E il resto della popolazione che era rimasta in città; i fuggiaschi che erano passati al nemico furono con tutto il popolo rimasto, da Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, deportati in Babilonia.
10 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, left in the land of Judah some of the poor people who owned nothing, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.	10 E quelli della bassa plebe che non possedavano nulla, Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, lasciò nella terra di Giuda e loro diede vigne e cisterne, quel giorno stesso.
11 Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave command concerning Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, saying,	11 Quanto poi a Geremia, Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, aveva dato ordine a Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, dicendogli:
12 "Take him, look after him well and do him no harm, but deal with him as he tells you."	12 «Prendilo e usagli riguardo e non fargli alcun male, ma prestati in tutto quello che desidera».
13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, Nebushazban the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon	13 Allora Nabuzardan, capo delle soldatesche, e Nabusezban, Rabsares e Neregel e Sereser e Rebmag e tutti i graduati del re di Babilonia,
14 sent and took Jeremiah from the court of the guard. They entrusted him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, that he should take him home. So he dwelt among the people.	14 mandarono a prendere Geremia dal cortile del carcere, e lo consegnarono a Godolia, figlio di Aicam, figlio di Safan, per dargli casa in cui entrare e potesse abitare in mezzo al popolo.
15 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the guard:	15 A Geremia poi, mentre stava ancora chiuso nel cortile del carcere, il Signore aveva comunicato la sua parola dicendogli:
16 "Go, and say to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will fulfil my words against this city for evil and not for good, and they shall be accomplished before you on that day.	16 «Va', e dirai così ad Abdemelec l'etiope: -Così dice il Signore degli eserciti il Dio d'Israele: "Ecco che io darò alle mie parole contro questa città un triste e non felice adempimento, e tu ne sarai spettatore nel giorno che sarà.
17 But I will deliver you on that day, says the LORD, and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.	17 Ma in quel giorno io ti libererò, dice il Signore, e non sarai dato nelle mani degli uomini che tu paventi.
18 For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but you shall have your life as a prize of war, because you have put your trust in me, says the LORD.'"	18 Sarai risparmiato e io ti libererò e non cadrai sotto la spada, ma avrai sana e salva la vita, perchè hai confidato in me, dice il Signore"-».
