Jeremiah 25

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon),	1 LA parola che fu indirizzata a Geremia, intorno a tutto il popolo di Giuda, nell’anno quarto di Gioiachim, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda; ch’era il primo anno di Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia,
2 which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem:	2 la quale il profeta Geremia pronunziò a tutto il popolo di Giuda, ed a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, dicendo:
3 "For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day, the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken persistently to you, but you have not listened.	3 Dall’anno tredicesimo di Giosia, figliuolo di Amon, re di Giuda, infino a questo giorno, già per lo spazio di ventitre anni, la parola del Signore mi è stata indirizzata, ed io ho parlato a voi del continuo, per ogni mattina; ma voi non avete ascoltato.
4 You have neither listened nor inclined your ears to hear, although the LORD persistently sent to you all his servants the prophets,	4 Il Signore vi ha eziandio mandati tutti gli altri suoi servitori profeti, del continuo, per ogni mattina ma voi non avete ubbidito, nè porto l’orecchio vostro per ascoltare,
5 saying, 'Turn now, every one of you, from his evil way and wrong doings, and dwell upon the land which the LORD has given to you and your fathers from of old and for ever;	5 dicendo: Deh! convertasi ciascun di voi dalla sua cattiva via, e dalla malvagità de’ suoi fatti; e voi abiterete per ogni secolo in su la terra che il Signore ha data a voi, ed a’ vostri padri.
6 do not go after other gods to serve and worship them, or provoke me to anger with the work of your hands. Then I will do you no harm.'	6 E non andate dietro ad altri dii, per servirli, e adorarli; e non mi dispettate per le opere delle vostre mani; ed io non vi farò male alcuno.
7 Yet you have not listened to me, says the LORD, that you might provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own harm.	7 Ma voi non mi avete ubbidito, dice il Signore, per dispettarmi con le opere delle vostre mani, a danno vostro
8 "Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts: Because you have not obeyed my words,	8 Perciò, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Conciossiachè voi non abbiate ubbidito alle mie parole;
9 behold, I will send for all the tribes of the north, says the LORD, and for Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these nations round about; I will utterly destroy them, and make them a horror, a hissing, and an everlasting reproach.	9 ecco, io manderò per tutte le nazioni di Settentrione, dice il Signore; e per Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, mio servitore; e le farò venire contro a questo paese, e contro a’ suoi abitanti, e contro a tutte queste genti d’intorno; e le distruggerò, e le metterò in desolazione, e in zufolo, e in disertamenti eterni.
10 Moreover, I will banish from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the grinding of the millstones and the light of the lamp.	10 E farò venir meno fra loro la voce di gioia, e la voce d’allegrezza; la voce dello sposo, e la voce della sposa; il romore delle macine, e il lume delle lampane.
11 This whole land shall become a ruin and a waste, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.	11 E tutto questo paese sarà ridotto in deserto, e in desolazione; e queste genti serviranno al re di Babilonia settant’anni.
12 Then after seventy years are completed, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity, says the LORD, making the land an everlasting waste.	12 E quando i settant’anni saran compiuti, io farò punizione sopra il re di Babilonia, e sopra quella gente, dice il Signore, della loro iniquità; ed anche sopra il paese de’ Caldei, e lo ridurrò in desolazioni perpetue.
13 I will bring upon that land all the words which I have uttered against it, everything written in this book, which Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations.	13 E farò venir sopra quel paese tutte le cose che io ho pronunziate contro ad esso; tutto ciò che è scritto in questo libro, ciò che Geremia ha profetizzato contro a tutte le genti.
14 For many nations and great kings shall make slaves even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds and the work of their hands."	14 Perciocchè anche genti grandi, e re possenti li ridurranno in servitù; ed io renderò loro la retribuzione secondo i fatti loro, e secondo le opere delle lor mani
15 Thus the LORD, the God of Israel, said to me: "Take from my hand this cup of the wine of wrath, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it.	15 Perciocchè il Signore Iddio d’Israele mi ha detto così: Prendi di man mia questa coppa del vino dell’ira, e danne bere a tutte le genti, alle quali io ti mando.
16 They shall drink and stagger and be crazed because of the sword which I am sending among them."	16 Esse ne berranno, e ne saranno stordite, e smanieranno, per la spada che io mando fra loro.
17 So I took the cup from the LORD's hand, and made all the nations to whom the Lord sent me drink it:	17 Io adunque presi la coppa di man del Signore, e ne diedi bere a tutte le genti, alle quali il Signore mi mandava;
18 Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and princes, to make them a desolation and a waste, a hissing and a curse, as at this day;	18 a Gerusalemme, ed alle città di Giuda, ed a’ suoi re, ed a’ suoi principi; per metterli in istupore, in desolazione, in zufolo, e in maledizione, come sono al dì d’oggi;
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his princes, all his people,	19 a Faraone, re di Egitto, ed ai suoi servitori, ed a’ suoi principi, ed a tutto il suo popolo;
20 and all the foreign folk among them; all the kings of the land of Uz and all the kings of the land of the Philistines (Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);	20 ed a tutto il popolo mischiato, ed a tutti i re del paese di Us, ed a tutti i re del paese de’ Filistei, e ad Ascalon, ed a Gaza, e ad Ecron, ed al rimanente di Asdod;
21 Edom, Moab, and the sons of Ammon;	21 ad Edom, ed a Moab, ed a’ figliuoli di Ammon;
22 all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastland across the sea;	22 ed a tutti i re di Tiro, ed a tutti i re di Sidon, ed ai re delle isole oltre mare;
23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who cut the corners of their hair;	23 a Dedan, ed a Tema, ed a Buz, ed a tutti quelli che si radono i canti delle tempie;
24 all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the mixed tribes that dwell in the desert;	24 ed a tutti i re dell’Arabia, ed a tutti i re del popolo mischiato, i quali abitano nel deserto;
25 all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;	25 ed a tutti i re di Zimri, ed a tutti i re di Elam, ed a tutti i re di Media;
26 all the kings of the north, far and near, one after another, and all the kingdoms of the world which are on the face of the earth. And after them the king of Babylon shall drink.	26 ed a tutti i re di Settentrione, vicini, o lontani, dall’uno all’altro; ed a tutti i regni della terra che son sopra la faccia di essa; il re di Sesac ne berrà anch’egli dopo loro.
27 "Then you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, be drunk and vomit, fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I am sending among you.'	27 Di’ loro adunque: Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Bevete, e inebbriatevi, e vomitate, e lasciatevi cadere, senza poter rilevarvi, per la spada che io mando fra voi.
28 "And if they refuse to accept the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: You must drink!	28 E se pur ricusano di prender di mano tua la coppa, per bere, di’ loro: Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Pur ne berrete.
29 For behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name, and shall you go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth, says the LORD of hosts.'	29 Perciocchè, ecco, io comincio dalla città che si chiama del mio Nome, a far del male; e sareste voi pure esenti? voi non ne sarete esenti; imperocchè io chiamo la spada sopra tutti gli abitanti della terra, dice il Signor degli eserciti
30 "You, therefore, shall prophesy against them all these words, and say to them: 'The LORD will roar from on high, and from his holy habitation utter his voice; he will roar mightily against his fold, and shout, like those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.	30 Tu adunque profetizza loro tutte queste parole, e di’ loro: Il Signore ruggirà da alto, e darà fuori la sua voce dall’abitacolo della sua santità; egli ruggirà fieramente contro alla sua stanza; un gran grido, come di quelli che calcano la vendemmia, risonerà a tutti gli abitatori della terra.
31 The clamor will resound to the ends of the earth, for the LORD has an indictment against the nations; he is entering into judgment with all flesh, and the wicked he will put to the sword, says the LORD.'	31 Lo stormo ne è andato infino alle estremità della terra; perciocchè il Signore ha lite contro alle genti, egli verrà a giudicio con ogni carne; egli darà gli empi alla spada, dice il Signore.
32 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, evil is going forth from nation to nation, and a great tempest is stirring from the farthest parts of the earth!	32 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ecco, il male passerà da una gente all’altra, ed un gran turbo si leverà dal fondo della terra.
33 "And those slain by the LORD on that day shall extend from one end of the earth to the other. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall be dung on the surface of the ground.	33 E in quel giorno gli uccisi del Signore saranno da una estremità della terra infino all’altra estremità; non se ne farà cordoglio, e non saranno raccolti, nè seppelliti; saranno per letame sopra la faccia della terra.
34 "Wail, you shepherds, and cry, and roll in ashes, you lords of the flock, for the days of your slaughter and dispersion have come, and you shall fall like choice rams.	34 Urlate, pastori, e gridate; e voltolatevi nella polvere, voi i principali della greggia; perciocchè il vostro termine, per essere scannati, e il termine delle vostre dissipazioni, è compiuto; e voi caderete a guisa di un vaso prezioso.
35 No refuge will remain for the shepherds, nor escape for the lords of the flock.	35 Ed ogni rifugio verrà meno a’ pastori, ed ogni scampo a’ principali della greggia.
36 Hark, the cry of the shepherds, and the wail of the lords of the flock! For the LORD is despoiling their pasture,	36 Vi è una voce di grido de’ pastori, ed un urlo de’ principali della greggia; perciocchè il Signore guasta il lor pasco.
37 and the peaceful folds are devastated, because of the fierce anger of the LORD.	37 E le mandre pacifiche saran distrutte, per l’ardor dell’ira del Signore.
38 Like a lion he has left his covert, for their land has become a waste because of the sword of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger."	38 Egli ha abbandonato il suo tabernacolo, a guisa di un leoncello che abbandonasse il suo ricetto; perciocchè il lor paese è stato messo in desolazione per lo furor dello sforzatore, e per l’ardor dell’ira di esso
