Leviticus 21

1 And the LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them that none of them shall defile himself for the dead among his people,	1 Disse Iddio a Moisè: parla alli sacerdoti figliuoli d'Aaron, e dirai loro, che non si maculi lo sacerdote della morte de' suoi cittadini (cioè togandogli, lavandoli, piangendo, e altre simili cose che si sogliono fare),
2 except for his nearest of kin, his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, his brother,	2 se non fosse suo parente, siccome fosse lo padre e la madre, e lo figliuolo e figliuola e fratello,
3 or his virgin sister (who is near to him because she has had no husband; for her he may defile himself).	3 e sorella vergine, la quale non sia maritata.
4 He shall not defile himself as a husband among his people and so profane himself.	4 Neanco si maculi sopra il principe del popolo suo.
5 They shall not make tonsures upon their heads, nor shave off the edges of their beards, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.	5 Non si radino lo capo nè la barba, nè in le loro carni faccino incisura.
6 They shall be holy to their God, and not profane the name of their God; for they offer the offerings by fire to the LORD, the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.	6 E saranno santi allo Iddio loro; e non be stemmieranno il nome suo. Lo incenso e il pane offerranno allo Iddio loro; e però saranno santi.
7 They shall not marry a harlot or a woman who has been defiled; neither shall they marry a woman divorced from her husband; for the priest is holy to his God.	7 Femina meretrice non meneranno per moglie, nè quella che sarà cacciata dal suo marito; perciò ch' egli è consecrato al suo Iddio,
8 You shall consecrate him, for he offers the bread of your God; he shall be holy to you; for I the LORD, who sanctify you, am holy.	8 e offerisce lo sacrificio. Sia dunque santo; perchè io sono santo Signore, lo quale vi santifico.
9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the harlot, profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire.	9 E se la figliuola del sacerdote (vergine) sarà trovata violata, e avrà deturpato il nome del padre suo, sia arsa al fuoco.
10 "The priest who is chief among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and who has been consecrated to wear the garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose, nor rend his clothes;	10 Lo pontefice, cioè lo sacerdote grande infra' suoi fratelli, al quale è istato unto il capo, e le mani sue sono istate consecrate, e vestito delle (sue) veste sante, lo capo suo non si discoprirà, e le vestimenta non isquarcerà.
11 he shall not go in to any dead body, nor defile himself, even for his father or for his mother;	11 E ad ogni morto non entrerà per alcuno modo; e sopra la morte dello padre e della madre non si contamini.
12 neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.	12 Nè uscirà de' luoghi santi, acciò che [non] maculi lo santuario del Signore, perchè dell' olio santo sì è unto. E io sono Iddio.
13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity.	13 E la moglie sua sarà vergine, quando la piglierà.
14 A widow, or one divorced, or a woman who has been defiled, or a harlot, these he shall not marry; but he shall take to wife a virgin of his own people,	14 E non pigli vedova, nè cacciata dal suo marito, nè meretrice, nè bagascia; ma sia pul cella del popolo suo.
15 that he may not profane his children among his people; for I am the LORD who sanctify him."	15 E non mesedi la stirpe del suo parentado col vulgo della gente sua; perciò ch' io sono il Signore, che lo santifico.
16 And the LORD said to Moses,	16 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli:
17 "Say to Aaron, None of your descendants throughout their generations who has a blemish may approach to offer the bread of his God.	17 Parla ad Aaron: l'uomo del parentado tuo per le famiglie sue, ch' avrà macula, non offerirà a Dio sacrificio,
18 For no one who has a blemish shall draw near, a man blind or lame, or one who has a mutilated face or a limb too long,	18 nè anderà al suo ministerio. Se (della schiatta d'Aaron) nascerà cieco e zoppo, ovver di piccolo o grande o torto naso,
19 or a man who has an injured foot or an injured hand,	19 ovver di mano o di piede rotto;
20 or a hunchback, or a dwarf, or a man with a defect in his sight or an itching disease or scabs or crushed testicles;	20 se gobbo, se cogli occhi lacrimosi, se losco, se scabie continua, se scabie sicca averà nel corpo, ovvero rotto sarà dalle parti di sotto;
21 no man of the descendants of Aaron the priest who has a blemish shall come near to offer the LORD's offerings by fire; since he has a blemish, he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.	21 ogni uomo il quale avrà macula notabile della progenie di Aaron sacerdote, non anderà a fare sacrificio a Dio, nè li pani al suo Iddio (all'altare).
22 He may eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy things,	22 Voglio che si nutrichi della offerta che si farà nel santuario;
23 but he shall not come near the veil or approach the altar, because he has a blemish, that he may not profane my sanctuaries; for I am the LORD who sanctify them."	23 sì che non entri dentro del velo del templo, (non entri nel tabernacolo), nè non vada all'altare; perciò che hae macula, e non debbe lo santuario mio maculare. E io sono Iddio, che vi santifico.
24 So Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the people of Israel.	24 Parloe Moisè ad Aaron e ai figliuoli, e a tutto il popolo d'Israel, tutte queste cose che Dio gli comando.
