1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et à Aaron, il leur dit:
2 "When a man has on the skin of his body a swelling or an eruption or a spot, and it turns into a leprous disease on the skin of his body, then he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests,	2 “Lorsqu’un homme aura sur la peau une tumeur, une plaque ou une tache blanche qui tourneront sur sa peau en plaie de lèpre, on le conduira à Aaron, le prêtre, ou à l’un de ses fils qui sont prêtres.
3 and the priest shall examine the diseased spot on the skin of his body; and if the hair in the diseased spot has turned white and the disease appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a leprous disease; when the priest has examined him he shall pronounce him unclean.	3 Le prêtre examinera la plaie qui est sur la peau. Si le poil de la plaie est devenu blanc et que la plaie paraît plus profonde que la peau, c’est une plaie de lèpre. Le prêtre qui aura fait l’examen déclarera l’homme impur.
4 But if the spot is white in the skin of his body, and appears no deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest shall shut up the diseased person for seven days;	4 S’il y a sur la peau une tache blanche qui n’est pas plus profonde que la peau, si le poil n’est pas devenu blanc, le prêtre isolera pendant sept jours celui qui a cette plaie.
5 and the priest shall examine him on the seventh day, and if in his eyes the disease is checked and the disease has not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up seven days more;	5 Le septième jour le prêtre l’examinera. Si la plaie n’a pas fait de progrès, si elle ne s’est pas développée sur la peau, le prêtre l’isolera encore pendant sept jours.
6 and the priest shall examine him again on the seventh day, and if the diseased spot is dim and the disease has not spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is only an eruption; and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.	6 Le septième jour le prêtre l’examinera de nouveau. Si la plaie a séché, ne s’est pas étendue sur la peau, le prêtre déclarera cet homme pur: c’est une plaque sans gravité. L’autre lavera ses vêtements et sera pur.
7 But if the eruption spreads in the skin, after he has shown himself to the priest for his cleansing, he shall appear again before the priest;	7 Mais si la plaque s’est développée sur la peau après que le prêtre l’ait examinée en vue de sa purification, il se présentera de nouveau devant le prêtre.
8 and the priest shall make an examination, and if the eruption has spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is leprosy.	8 Le prêtre l’examinera encore une fois; si la plaque s’est développée sur la peau, le prêtre le déclarera impur: c’est la lèpre.
9 "When a man is afflicted with leprosy, he shall be brought to the priest;	9 On conduira vers le prêtre l’homme qui a une plaie de lèpre.
10 and the priest shall make an examination, and if there is a white swelling in the skin, which has turned the hair white, and there is quick raw flesh in the swelling,	10 Le prêtre l’examinera: y a-t-il sur la peau une tumeur blanche, cette tumeur a-t-elle fait blanchir le poil, y a-t-il dans la tumeur des traces de chair à vif?
11 it is a chronic leprosy in the skin of his body, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; he shall not shut him up, for he is unclean.	11 Dans ce cas, c’est une lèpre caractérisée sur la peau. Le prêtre le déclarera impur, il n’y a pas à l’isoler encore car cet homme est impur: c’est évident.
12 And if the leprosy breaks out in the skin, so that the leprosy covers all the skin of the diseased person from head to foot, so far as the priest can see,	12 Si la lèpre s’est développée sur la peau et la couvre entièrement, depuis la tête jusqu’aux pieds, tout au moins pour ce que voient les yeux du prêtre,
13 then the priest shall make an examination, and if the leprosy has covered all his body, he shall pronounce him clean of the disease; it has all turned white, and he is clean.	13 le prêtre l’examinera. Même si la lèpre couvre tout le corps, il déclarera pur celui qui a la tache, car il est complètement blanc: il est encore pur.
14 But when raw flesh appears on him, he shall be unclean.	14 Mais le jour où apparaîtra de la chair à vif, il sera impur.
15 And the priest shall examine the raw flesh, and pronounce him unclean; raw flesh is unclean, for it is leprosy.	15 Quand le prêtre aura vu la chair à vif, il déclarera cet homme impur: la chair à vif est impure, c’est la lèpre.
16 But if the raw flesh turns again and is changed to white, then he shall come to the priest,	16 Si la chair à vif redevient blanche, il ira trouver le prêtre.
17 and the priest shall examine him, and if the disease has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce the diseased person clean; he is clean.	17 Le prêtre l’examinera, et si la plaie a blanchi, le prêtre déclarera cet homme pur.
18 "And when there is in the skin of one's body a boil that has healed,	18 Lorsqu’un homme aura sur le corps ou sur la peau un ulcère, il se peut que l’ulcère guérisse,
19 and in the place of the boil there comes a white swelling or a reddish-white spot, then it shall be shown to the priest;	19 mais qu’à la place il vienne une tumeur ou une tache rouge. Alors cet homme ira se montrer au prêtre
20 and the priest shall make an examination, and if it appears deeper than the skin and its hair has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is the disease of leprosy, it has broken out in the boil.	20 et le prêtre l’examinera. Si la tache paraît plus profonde que la peau, et que le poil y est devenu blanc, le prêtre déclarera cet homme impur: c’est une plaie de lèpre qui a pris la place de l’ulcère.
21 But if the priest examines it, and the hair on it is not white and it is not deeper than the skin, but is dim, then the priest shall shut him up seven days;	21 Mais si le prêtre voit qu’il n’y a pas de poil blanc dans la tache et que celle-ci n’est pas profonde, qu’elle a séché, il isolera cet homme pendant sept jours.
22 and if it spreads in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is diseased.	22 Si pendant ce temps la tache s’est développée sur la peau, le prêtre déclarera l’homme impur: c’est une plaie de lèpre.
23 But if the spot remains in one place and does not spread, it is the scar of the boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.	23 Si au contraire la tache n’a pas bougé, si elle ne s’est pas étendue, ce n’est que la cicatrice de l’ulcère. Le prêtre déclarera l’homme pur.
24 "Or, when the body has a burn on its skin and the raw flesh of the burn becomes a spot, reddish-white or white,	24 Si un homme a sur le corps ou sur la peau une brûlure faite par le feu, s’il se forme à l’endroit de la brûlure une tache blanche ou rouge,
25 the priest shall examine it, and if the hair in the spot has turned white and it appears deeper than the skin, then it is leprosy; it has broken out in the burn, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a leprous disease.	25 le prêtre l’examinera. Si le poil est devenu blanc à l’emplacement de la tache et qu’elle paraisse plus profonde que la peau, c’est que la brûlure s’est transformée en lèpre. Le prêtre déclarera cet homme impur: il a une plaie de lèpre.
26 But if the priest examines it, and the hair in the spot is not white and it is no deeper than the skin, but is dim, the priest shall shut him up seven days,	26 Si le prêtre voit qu’il n’y a pas de poil blanc à l’emplacement de la tache, qu’elle n’est pas plus profonde que la peau et qu’elle devient plus pâle, il isolera cet homme pendant sept jours.
27 and the priest shall examine him the seventh day; if it is spreading in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a leprous disease.	27 Le septième jour le prêtre l’examinera. Si la tache s’est développée sur la peau, le prêtre le déclarera impur: c’est une plaie de lèpre.
28 But if the spot remains in one place and does not spread in the skin, but is dim, it is a swelling from the burn, and the priest shall pronounce him clean; for it is the scar of the burn.	28 Si la tache n’a pas bougé, si elle ne s’est pas étendue sur la peau et qu’elle est devenue plus claire, c’est la croûte de la brûlure. Le prêtre déclarera cet homme pur: c’est une cicatrice de brûlure.
29 "When a man or woman has a disease on the head or the beard,	29 Si un homme ou une femme a une plaie à la tête ou au menton, le prêtre examinera la plaie.
30 the priest shall examine the disease; and if it appears deeper than the skin, and the hair in it is yellow and thin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is an itch, a leprosy of the head or the beard.	30 Si elle paraît plus profonde que la peau, si le poil y est jaune et vilain, le prêtre déclarera cette personne impure: c’est une lèpre particulière, c’est la lèpre de la tête ou du menton.
31 And if the priest examines the itching disease, and it appears no deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall shut up the person with the itching disease for seven days,	31 Si le prêtre voit que la plaie de cette lèpre ne semble pas plus profonde que la peau, bien que le poil ne soit pas noir, le prêtre isolera cette personne pendant sept jours.
32 and on the seventh day the priest shall examine the disease; and if the itch has not spread, and there is in it no yellow hair, and the itch appears to be no deeper than the skin,	32 Le septième jour le prêtre examinera la plaie. Si cette lèpre particulière ne s’est pas étendue, s’il n’y a pas de poil jaune et que cette lèpre n’est pas plus profonde que la peau,
33 then he shall shave himself, but the itch he shall not shave; and the priest shall shut up the person with the itching disease for seven days more;	33 le malade se rasera, mais il ne rasera pas l’endroit de la plaie. Le prêtre l’isolera une seconde fois pendant sept jours.
34 and on the seventh day the priest shall examine the itch, and if the itch has not spread in the skin and it appears to be no deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.	34 Le septième jour le prêtre examinera sa lèpre. Si elle ne s’est pas étendue sur la peau, si elle ne paraît pas plus profonde que la peau, le prêtre déclarera cette personne pure. Elle lavera ses vêtements et sera pure.
35 But if the itch spreads in the skin after his cleansing,	35 Cependant, si cette lèpre se développe sur la peau du malade après qu’on l’ait déclaré pur, le prêtre l’examinera de nouveau.
36 then the priest shall examine him, and if the itch has spread in the skin, the priest need not seek for the yellow hair; he is unclean.	36 Si la lèpre s’est développée sur la peau, le prêtre n’aura pas à rechercher s’il y a du poil jaune: cette personne est impure.
37 But if in his eyes the itch is checked, and black hair has grown in it, the itch is healed, he is clean; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.	37 Mais si, selon l’avis du prêtre, la lèpre n’a pas fait de progrès et qu’il y ait du poil noir, c’est que cette lèpre est guérie. Cette personne est pure, le prêtre la déclarera pure.
38 "When a man or a woman has spots on the skin of the body, white spots,	38 Lorsqu’un homme ou une femme aura sur la peau des taches blanches, le prêtre l’examinera.
39 the priest shall make an examination, and if the spots on the skin of the body are of a dull white, it is tetter that has broken out in the skin; he is clean.	39 S’il y a sur la peau des taches d’un blanc sale, c’est une sorte d’eczéma qui a poussé sur la peau: il est pur.
40 "If a man's hair has fallen from his head, he is bald but he is clean.	40 Lorsqu’un homme a perdu ses cheveux, il est chauve, mais il est pur.
41 And if a man's hair has fallen from his forehead and temples, he has baldness of the forehead but he is clean.	41 Si ce sont les cheveux de devant qui sont tombés, il a le front chauve mais il est pur.
42 But if there is on the bald head or the bald forehead a reddish-white diseased spot, it is leprosy breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead.	42 Mais si une plaie rouge se forme sur la partie chauve, que ce soit devant ou derrière, c’est que la lèpre s’est développée à l’endroit où il était chauve.
43 Then the priest shall examine him, and if the diseased swelling is reddish-white on his bald head or on his bald forehead, like the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the body,	43 Le prêtre l’examinera: si la plaie forme une tumeur rouge sur la partie chauve, que ce soit derrière ou devant, et que cette tumeur ressemble à la lèpre de la peau,
44 he is a leprous man, he is unclean; the priest must pronounce him unclean; his disease is on his head.	44 cet homme est lépreux: il est impur. Le prêtre le déclarera impur, car il a à la tête une plaie de lèpre.
45 "The leper who has the disease shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose, and he shall cover his upper lip and cry, 'Unclean, unclean.'	45 Le lépreux qui a cette plaie portera ses vêtements déchirés et laissera flotter ses cheveux. Il se cachera le visage jusqu’à la moustache et criera: ‘Impur! Impur!’
46 He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease; he is unclean; he shall dwell alone in a habitation outside the camp.	46 Tant que durera sa plaie il sera impur, et comme impur, il habitera seul; il restera en dehors du camp.
47 "When there is a leprous disease in a garment, whether a woolen or a linen garment,	47 Lorsqu’il y aura une plaie de lèpre sur un vêtement de lin ou de laine;
48 in warp or woof of linen or wool, or in a skin or in anything made of skin,	48 que ce soit sur le fil de lin ou de laine destiné à la chaîne, ou sur celui de la trame d’un tissu - ou encore sur du cuir ou sur quelque ouvrage en peau;
49 if the disease shows greenish or reddish in the garment, whether in warp or woof or in skin or in anything made of skin, it is a leprous disease and shall be shown to the priest.	49 si la plaie est verdâtre ou rouge sur le vêtement ou sur le cuir, ou sur le fil de chaîne, ou de trame, ou sur tout objet de peau, c’est une plaie de lèpre: on la montrera au prêtre.
50 And the priest shall examine the disease, and shut up that which has the disease for seven days;	50 Après avoir regardé la plaie, le prêtre enfermera l’objet suspect pendant sept jours.
51 then he shall examine the disease on the seventh day. If the disease has spread in the garment, in warp or woof, or in the skin, whatever be the use of the skin, the disease is a malignant leprosy; it is unclean.	51 Le septième jour il examinera de nouveau la plaie. Si la plaie s’est développée sur le vêtement, sur le fil de chaîne ou de trame, sur la peau ou sur un objet quelconque en peau, c’est une plaie de lèpre: l’objet est impur.
52 And he shall burn the garment, whether diseased in warp or woof, woolen or linen, or anything of skin, for it is a malignant leprosy; it shall be burned in the fire.	52 On brûlera le vêtement, le fil de lin ou de laine destiné à la chaîne ou à la trame du tissu, ou l’objet en peau sur lequel se trouve la plaie, car c’est la lèpre. L’objet sera donc brûlé au feu.
53 "And if the priest examines, and the disease has not spread in the garment in warp or woof or in anything of skin,	53 Mais si le prêtre voit que la plaie ne s’est pas développée sur le vêtement, sur le fil de chaîne ou de trame, ou sur l’objet en peau,
54 then the priest shall command that they wash the thing in which is the disease, and he shall shut it up seven days more;	54 il fera laver la plaie et isolera une seconde fois cet objet pendant sept jours.
55 and the priest shall examine the diseased thing after it has been washed. And if the diseased spot has not changed color, though the disease has not spread, it is unclean; you shall burn it in the fire, whether the leprous spot is on the back or on the front.	55 Le prêtre examinera alors la plaie qui aura été lavée. Si elle n’a pas changé d’aspect, même si elle ne s’est pas étendue, l’objet est impur. On le brûlera car la lèpre l’a rongé à l’endroit ou à l’envers.
56 "But if the priest examines, and the disease is dim after it is washed, he shall tear the spot out of the garment or the skin or the warp or woof;	56 Mais si le prêtre voit que la plaie, après avoir été lavée, est plus claire, il l’arrachera du vêtement, de la peau ou du fil de chaîne ou de trame.
57 then if it appears again in the garment, in warp or woof, or in anything of skin, it is spreading; you shall burn with fire that in which is the disease.	57 Cependant, si elle revient sur le vêtement, sur le fil de chaîne ou de trame ou sur l’objet en peau, c’est que la lèpre est revenue. Tu brûleras alors cet objet.
58 But the garment, warp or woof, or anything of skin from which the disease departs when you have washed it, shall then be washed a second time, and be clean."	58 Le vêtement, le fil de chaîne ou de trame, ou l’objet de peau dont la plaie aura disparu après lavage, sera lavé une seconde fois: alors il sera pur.
59 This is the law for a leprous disease in a garment of wool or linen, either in warp or woof, or in anything of skin, to decide whether it is clean or unclean.	59 Voilà donc la loi concernant la plaie de lèpre sur les vêtements de laine ou de lin, sur le fil de chaîne ou de trame, ou sur tout objet fait en peau: elle servira pour déclarer les objets purs et les objets impurs.”
