Isaiah 7

1 In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but they could not conquer it.	1 Voici ce qui arriva au temps d’Akaz fils de Yotam, fils d’Ozias roi de Juda: Razone, roi d’Aram, et Pékah, fils de Rémalyas, roi d’Israël, s’avancèrent sur Jérusalem pour l’attaquer, mais ils ne purent s’en emparer.
2 When the house of David was told, "Syria is in league with Ephraim," his heart and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.	2 On apporta la nouvelle au palais de David: “Aram a installé son camp sur le territoire d’Éphraïm.” Alors le cœur du roi et le cœur du peuple commencèrent à s’agiter, comme sous le vent s’agitent les arbres de la forêt.
3 And the LORD said to Isaiah, "Go forth to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Fuller's Field,	3 Yahvé dit alors à Isaïe: “Sors avec ton fils Chéar-Yachoub à la rencontre d’Akaz; il est près de l’extrémité du canal de la piscine supérieure, sur le chemin du Champ-du-Foulon.
4 and say to him, 'Take heed, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two smoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remaliah.	4 Tu lui diras ceci: Reste donc calme! N’aie pas peur et ne tremble pas devant ces deux braises fumantes; qu’est-ce que la fureur de Razone roi d’Aram, et celle du fils de Rémalyas?
5 Because Syria, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying,	5 “Aram, Éphraïm et le fils de Rémalyas ont bien décidé ta perte, ils ont dit:
6 "Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabe-el as king in the midst of it,"	6 Attaquons Juda, jetons-y la panique; nous le détruirons et nous y installerons comme roi le fils de Tabéel.
7 thus says the Lord GOD: It shall not stand, and it shall not come to pass.	7 Mais voici que le Seigneur Yahvé a parlé; il a dit: Cela ne se réalisera pas, cela ne sera pas!
8 For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. (Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken to pieces so that it will no longer be a people.)	8 “Car Damas n’est que la capitale d’Aram et Razone n’est que le chef de Damas. (Eh bien, encore 65 ans, et Éphraïm aura cessé d’être un peuple)
9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.'"	9 Samarie n’est que la capitale d’Éphraïm, et le fils de Rémalyas n’est que la tête de Samarie. Mais si vous ne croyez pas, vous ne tiendrez pas.”
10 Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz,	10 De nouveau il y eut une parole de Yahvé pour Akaz:
11 "Ask a sign of the LORD your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven."	11 “Demande un signe à Yahvé ton Dieu, jusque dans le monde d’en bas si tu veux, ou bien là-haut dans le ciel.”
12 But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, and I will not put the LORD to the test."	12 Akaz répondit: “Je ne demanderai rien, je ne mettrai pas Yahvé à l’épreuve.”
13 And he said, "Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also?	13 Alors le prophète lui dit: “Écoutez, maison de David! Il ne vous suffit donc pas de fatiguer tout le monde, voulez-vous aussi fatiguer mon Dieu?
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanu-el.	14 “Eh bien, le Seigneur lui-même va vous donner un signe. Voici: La jeune femme est enceinte, elle enfante un fils et lui donne ce nom: Emmanuel, “Dieu-avec-nous”.
15 He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good.	15 “L’enfant se nourrira de lait caillé et de miel jusqu’à ce qu’il sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien.
16 For before the child knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land before whose two kings you are in dread will be deserted.	16 Car avant que l’enfant ne sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien, le pays dont tu redoutes les deux rois sera dévasté.
17 The LORD will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father's house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah-- the king of Assyria."	17 Et pour toi, pour ton peuple et la maison de ton père, Yahvé fera venir des temps tellement désastreux qu’il n’y en a pas eu de semblables depuis le jour où Éphraïm s’est séparé de Juda.”
18 In that day the LORD will whistle for the fly which is at the sources of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee which is in the land of Assyria.	18 Oui, en ces jours-là, Yahvé sifflera, et des canaux d’Égypte viendront les mouches, de l’Assyrie, les abeilles.
19 And they will all come and settle in the steep ravines, and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes, and on all the pastures.	19 Toutes elles viendront et se poseront dans les ravins des torrents et dans les fentes des rochers, sur tous les petits arbres et sur tous les cours d’eaux.
20 In that day the Lord will shave with a razor which is hired beyond the River-- with the king of Assyria-- the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.	20 Le Seigneur en ce jour-là, prendra un rasoir au-delà du Fleuve: (c’est le roi d’Assyrie.) Le rasoir enlèvera les cheveux, les poils des jambes et la barbe.
21 In that day a man will keep alive a young cow and two sheep;	21 Ce jour-là chacun élèvera une vache et deux brebis;
22 and because of the abundance of milk which they give, he will eat curds; for every one that is left in the land will eat curds and honey.	22 cela fera beaucoup de lait et tous ceux qui seront laissés dans le pays, se nourriront de crème et de miel.
23 In that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand shekels of silver, will become briers and thorns.	23 En ce jour-là, dans un vignoble de mille pieds de vigne d’une valeur de mille pièces d’argent, on ne trouvera plus que ronces et épines.
24 With bow and arrows men will come there, for all the land will be briers and thorns;	24 On y entrera avec l’arc et les flèches car le pays ne sera plus que ronces et épines.
25 and as for all the hills which used to be hoed with a hoe, you will not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but they will become a place where cattle are let loose and where sheep tread.	25 Par crainte des ronces et des épines, on n’amènera plus la charrue sur les collines qui étaient cultivées. On y lâchera les bœufs et les brebis les piétineront.”
