Isaiah 6

1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple.	1 Nell'anno, in cui si morì il re Ozia, io vidi il Signore sedente sopra un trono eccelso, ed elevato; e le estremità (della veste) di lui riempievano il tempio.
2 Above him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.	2 Intorno al trono stavano i Serafini, ognuno di essi aveva sei ale: con due velavano la faccia di lui, e con due velavano i piedi di lui, e con due volavano.
3 And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory."	3 E ad alta voce cantavano alternativamente, e dicevano: Santo, santo, santo il Signore Dio degli eserciti; della gloria di lui è piena tutta la terra.
4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.	4 E si smossero i cardini delle porte alla voce del cantante, e la casa si empiè di fumo.
5 And I said: "Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!"	5 Ed io dissi: Guai a me, perchè ho taciuto, perchè uomo di labbra immonde son io, e vivo in mezzo ad un popolo di labbra immonde, ed il Re Signor degli eserciti ho veduto cogli occhi miei.
6 Then flew one of the seraphim to me, having in his hand a burning coal which he had taken with tongs from the altar.	6 E volò a me uno de' Serafini, ed avea nella sua mano una pietruzza, la quale avea colle molle presa di su l'altare.
7 And he touched my mouth, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin forgiven."	7 E toccò la mia bocca, e disse: Ecco che questo ha toccate le tue labbra, e sarà tolta la tua iniquità, e sarà lavato il tuo peccato.
8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."	8 E udii la voce del Signor, che di ceva: Chi manderò io? e chi anderà per noi? E io dissi: Eccomi, manda me.
9 And he said, "Go, and say to this people: 'Hear and hear, but do not understand; see and see, but do not perceive.'	9 Ed egli disse: Va, e dirai a questo popolo: Ascoltate, è non vogliate capire: e vedete, e non vogliate intenderla.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed."	10 Acceca il cuore di questo popolo e istupidisci le sue orecchie, e chiudi a lui gli occhi, affinchè non avvenga, che co' suoi occhi egli vegga, e oda co' suoi orecchi, e col cuore comprenda, e convertasi, ed io lo sani.
11 Then I said, "How long, O Lord?" And he said: "Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without men, and the land is utterly desolate,	11 E dissi: Fino a quando, o Signore? Ed egli disse: Fino a tanto, che desolate rimangano le città, senza di chi le abiti, e le case senza uomo, e la terra sarà lasciata deserta.
12 and the LORD removes men far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.	12 E il Signore manderà lontano gli uomini, e moltiplicheranno gli abbandonati sopra la terra.
13 And though a tenth remain in it, it will be burned again, like a terebinth or an oak, whose stump remains standing when it is felled." The holy seed is its stump.	13 Ed ancora ella sarà decimata: e di nuovo sarà mostrata a dito come un terebinto, od una quercia, che spandeva i suoi rami: seme santo sarà quello, che di lei resterà in piedi.
