Isaiah 59

1 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear;	1 No, el Señor no es corto de mano para salvar ni duro de oído para escuchar:
2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you so that he does not hear.	2 han sido las culpas de ustedes las que han puesto una barrera entre ustedes y su Dios; sus pecados le han hecho cubrirse el rostro para dejar de escucharlos.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue mutters wickedness.	3 Las manos de ustedes están manchadas de sangre y sus dedos, de iniquidad; sus labios dicen mentiras, sus lenguas murmuran perfidias.
4 No one enters suit justly, no one goes to law honestly; they rely on empty pleas, they speak lies, they conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity.	4 Nadie apela con justa razón ni va a juicio de buena fe; se pone la confianza en palabras vacías y se habla con falsedad; se está grávido de malicia y se da a luz la iniquidad.
5 They hatch adders' eggs, they weave the spider's web; he who eats their eggs dies, and from one which is crushed a viper is hatched.	5 Ellos incuban huevos de víboras y tejen telas de araña; el que come de esos huevos, muere, y se los rompe, alta una culebra.
6 Their webs will not serve as clothing; men will not cover themselves with what they make. Their works are works of iniquity, and deeds of violence are in their hands.	6 Con sus telas no se hará un vestido y nadie se cubrirá con lo que hacen. Sus obras son obras de maldad y en sus manos no hay más que violencia;
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, desolation and destruction are in their highways.	7 sus pies corren hacia el mal, se apresuran para derramar sangre inocente; sus planes son planes perversos, a su paso hay devastación y ruina.
8 The way of peace they know not, and there is no justice in their paths; they have made their roads crooked, no one who goes in them knows peace.	8 No conocen el camino de la paz, en sus senderos, no existe el derecho. Abren para sí mismo sendas tortuosas: el que las recorre, no conoce la paz.
9 Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not overtake us; we look for light, and behold, darkness, and for brightness, but we walk in gloom.	9 Por eso, el derecho está lejos de nosotros y la justicia, fuera de nuestro alcance. Esperábamos luz, y sólo hay tinieblas, claridad, y caminamos a oscuras.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, we grope like those who have no eyes; we stumble at noon as in the twilight, among those in full vigor we are like dead men.	10 Andamos a tientas como los ciegos contra la pared, andamos a tientas, como el que está sin ojos; en pleno mediodía tropezamos como al anochecer, en pleno vigor estamos como los muertos.
11 We all growl like bears, we moan and moan like doves; we look for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far from us.	11 Todos nosotros gruñimos como osos, gemimos sin cesar como palomas. Esperábamos el juicio, ¡y nada!, la salvación, y está lejos de nosotros.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities:	12 Porque son muchas nuestras rebeldías delante de ti y nuestros pecados atestiguan contra nosotros; sí, nuestras rebeldías nos acompañan y conocemos bien nuestras iniquidades:
13 transgressing, and denying the LORD, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart lying words.	13 fuimos rebeldes y renegamos del Señor, dimos la espalda a nuestro Dios, hablamos de oprimir y traicionar, y urdimos palabras engañosas en el corazón.
14 Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth has fallen in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter.	14 Así retrocede el derecho y se mantiene alejada la justicia, porque la verdad está por el suelo en la plaza y la rectitud no tiene acceso.
15 Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. The LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.	15 La verdad está ausente y los que se apartan del mal son despojados. El Señor ha visto con desagrado que ya no existe el derecho.
16 He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intervene; then his own arm brought him victory, and his righteousness upheld him.	16 El vio que no había nadie, se sorprendió de que nadie interviniera. Entonces su brazo lo socorrió y su justicia lo sostuvo.
17 He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation upon his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in fury as a mantle.	17 El se puso la justicia por coraza y sobre su cabeza, el casco de la salvación; se vistió con la ropa de la venganza y se envolvió con el manto del celo.
18 According to their deeds, so will he repay, wrath to his adversaries, requital to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render requital.	18 Conforme a las obras, será la retribución: furor para sus adversarios, represalia para sus enemigos.
19 So they shall fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the LORD drives.	19 Desde el Occidente, se temerá el nombre del Señor, y desde el Oriente, se respetará su gloria, porque él vendrá como un río encajonado, impulsado por el soplo del Señor.
20 "And he will come to Zion as Redeemer, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression, says the LORD.	20 El vendrá como redentor para Sión y para los hijos de Jacob convertidos de su rebeldía –oráculo del Señor–.
21 "And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says the LORD: my spirit which is upon you, and my words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your children, or out of the mouth of your children's children, says the LORD, from this time forth and for evermore."	21 Por mi parte, dice el Señor, esta es mi alianza con ellos: mi espíritu que está sobre ti y mis palabras que yo he puesto en tu boca, no se apartarán de tu boca, ni de la boca de tus descendientes, desde ahora y para siempre, dice el Señor.
