Isaiah 52

1 Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean.	1 - Risvegliati, risvegliati, rivesti la tua fortezza, o Sion! Rivesti le vestimenta della tua gloria, o Gerusalemme città del Santo! Perchè non seguiterà più a passare per te l'incirconciso e l'immondo.
2 Shake yourself from the dust, arise, O captive Jerusalem; loose the bonds from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion.	2 Scuotiti dalla polvere, alzati e siedi, o Gerusalemme, sciogli le catene del tuo collo, o schiava figlia di Sion!
3 For thus says the LORD: "You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money.	3 Perchè così dice il Signore: «Per nulla siete stati venduti: e senza denaro sarete ricomprati!».
4 For thus says the Lord GOD: My people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there, and the Assyrian oppressed them for nothing.	4 Perchè così dice il Signore Dio: «In antico il mio popolo discese in Egitto per essere ivi trattato come forestiero; Assur lo maltrattò senza motivo.
5 Now therefore what have I here, says the LORD, seeing that my people are taken away for nothing? Their rulers wail, says the LORD, and continually all the day my name is despised.	5 Ed ora che sto a fare qui, dice il Signore, poichè il mio popolo è stato portato via senza ragione? Coloro che lo dominano lo trattano iniquamente, dice il Signore, e di continuo tutto il giorno il mio nome è bestemmiato.
6 Therefore my people shall know my name; therefore in that day they shall know that it is I who speak; here am I."	6 Per questo il mio popolo conoscerà il mio nome in quel giorno; io stesso, quello che parlava, eccomi, son qui presente!».
7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace, who brings good tidings of good, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns."	7 Quanto sono belli sui monti i piedi dell'annunziatore e proclamatore della pace, di colui che annunzia il bene, che predica la salute e dice a Sion: «Il Signore Dio tuo regnerà!».
8 Hark, your watchmen lift up their voice, together they sing for joy; for eye to eye they see the return of the LORD to Zion.	8 Il grido delle tue sentinelle! Hanno alzato la loro voce, mandano insieme grida di giubilo, perchè vedranno coi loro occhi stessi, quando il Signore restituirà Sion.
9 Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.	9 Rallegratevi, ed esultate, o ruine di Gerusalemme, perchè il Signore ha consolato il suo popolo, ha redento Gerusalemme!
10 The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.	10 Il Signore ha preparato il braccio suo santo agli occhi di tutte le genti, e tutti i confini della terra vedranno la salvezza del Dio nostro.
11 Depart, depart, go out thence, touch no unclean thing; go out from the midst of her, purify yourselves, you who bear the vessels of the LORD.	11 Ritiratevi, ritiratevi, uscite di là, l'immondo nol toccate, uscite di mezzo ad essa, purificatevi, voi che portate i vasi del Signore!
12 For you shall not go out in haste, and you shall not go in flight, for the LORD will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.	12 Perchè voi non uscirete in furia, nè in fuga a precipizio; anzi il Signore vi precederà, e il Dio di Israele raccoglierà le vostre file.
13 Behold, my servant shall prosper, he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high.	13 Ecco che il mio servo riuscirà nell'intento, andrà innalzandosi, e si eleverà molto sublime.
14 As many were astonished at him-- his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the sons of men--	14 A quella guisa che stupirono molti su te, così il suo aspetto sarà senza gloria tra gli uomini e la sua apparenza tra i figli degli uomini.
15 so shall he startle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which has not been told them they shall see, and that which they have not heard they shall understand.	15 Questi aspergerà molte genti; dinanzi a lui i re si chiuderanno la bocca; perchè quelli che non avevano sentito parlare di lui lo vedranno, e quelli che non avevano nulla udito lo contempleranno.
