Isaiah 43

1 But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.	1 Et maintenant, ainsi parle Yahvé, celui qui t'a créé, Jacob, qui t'a modelé, Israël. Ne crains pas, car jet'ai racheté, je t'ai appelé par ton nom: tu es à moi.
2 When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.	2 Si tu traverses les eaux je serai avec toi, et les rivières, elles ne te submergeront pas. Si tu passes parle feu, tu ne souffriras pas, et la flamme ne te brûlera pas.
3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you.	3 Car je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, le Saint d'Israël, ton sauveur. Pour ta rançon, j'ai donné l'Egypte, Kush etSéba à ta place.
4 Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.	4 Car tu comptes beaucoup à mes yeux, tu as du prix et je t'aime. Aussi je livre des hommes à ta placeet des peuples en rançon de ta vie.
5 Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you;	5 Ne crains pas, car je suis avec toi, du levant je vais faire revenir ta race, et du couchant je terassemblerai.
6 I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth,	6 Je dirai au Nord: Donne! et au Midi: Ne retiens pas! Ramène mes fils de loin et mes filles du bout dela terre,
7 every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made."	7 quiconque se réclame de mon nom, ceux que j'ai créés pour ma gloire, que j'ai formés et que j'ai faits.
8 Bring forth the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears!	8 Fais sortir un peuple aveugle qui a des yeux, et des sourds qui ont des oreilles.
9 Let all the nations gather together, and let the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to justify them, and let them hear and say, It is true.	9 Que toutes les nations se rassemblent, que tous les peuples s'unissent! Qui parmi eux a proclamé celaet nous a fait connaître les choses anciennes? Qu'ils produisent leurs témoins et qu'ils se justifient, qu'on lesentende et qu'on dise: C'est la vérité!
10 "You are my witnesses," says the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.	10 C'est vous qui êtes mes témoins, oracle de Yahvé, vous êtes le serviteur que je me suis choisi, afinque vous le sachiez, que vous croyiez en moi et que vous compreniez que c'est moi: avant moi aucun dieu n'a étéformé et après moi il n'y en aura pas.
11 I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.	11 Moi, c'est moi Yahvé, et en dehors de moi il n'y a pas de sauveur.
12 I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you; and you are my witnesses," says the LORD.	12 C'est moi qui ai révélé, sauvé et fait entendre, ce n'est pas un étranger qui est parmi vous, vous, vousêtes mes témoins, oracle de Yahvé, et moi, je suis Dieu,
13 "I am God, and also henceforth I am He; there is none who can deliver from my hand; I work and who can hinder it?"	13 de toute éternité je le suis; nul ne peut délivrer de ma main, si j'agis, qui pourrait me faire renoncer?
14 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "For your sake I will send to Babylon and break down all the bars, and the shouting of the Chaldeans will be turned to lamentations.	14 Ainsi parle Yahvé, votre rédempteur, le Saint d'Israël. A cause de vous, j'ai envoyé quelqu'un àBabylone, je vais faire tomber tous les verrous, et les Chaldéens changeront leurs cris en lamentations.
15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King."	15 Je suis Yahvé, votre Saint, le créateur d'Israël, votre roi.
16 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters,	16 Ainsi parle Yahvé, celui qui traça dans la mer un chemin, un sentier dans les eaux déchaînées,
17 who brings forth chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:	17 qui fit sortir char et cheval, armée et troupe d'élite ensemble; ils se sont couchés pour ne plus serelever, ils se sont éteints, comme une mèche ils se sont consumés.
18 "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.	18 Ne vous souvenez plus des événements anciens, ne pensez plus aux choses passées,
19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.	19 voici que je vais faire une chose nouvelle, déjà elle pointe, ne la reconnaissez-vous pas? Oui, je vaismettre dans le désert un chemin, et dans la steppe, des fleuves.
20 The wild beasts will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches; for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people,	20 Les bêtes sauvages m'honoreront, les chacals et les autruches, car j'ai mis dans le désert de l'eau etdes fleuves dans la steppe, pour abreuver mon peuple, mon élu.
21 the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.	21 Le peuple que je me suis formé publiera mes louanges.
22 "Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel!	22 Tu ne m'as pas invoqué, Jacob, oui, tu t'es lassé de moi, Israël.
23 You have not brought me your sheep for burnt offerings, or honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, or wearied you with frankincense.	23 Tu ne m'as pas apporté d'agneaux en holocauste, et tu ne m'as pas honoré par tes sacrifices. Je ne t'aipas asservi à des oblations, je ne t'ai pas lassé en exigeant de l'encens.
24 You have not bought me sweet cane with money, or satisfied me with the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins, you have wearied me with your iniquities.	24 Pour moi, tu n'as pas acquis de roseau à prix d'argent, et tu ne m'as pas rassasié de la graisse de tessacrifices. Mais par tes péchés, tu as fait de moi un esclave, tu m'as lassé par tes fautes.
25 "I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.	25 C'est moi, moi, qui efface tes crimes par égard pour moi, et je ne me souviendrai plus de tes fautes.
26 Put me in remembrance, let us argue together; set forth your case, that you may be proved right.	26 Fais-moi me souvenir, et nous jugerons ensemble, fais toi-même le compte afin d'être justifié.
27 Your first father sinned, and your mediators transgressed against me.	27 Ton premier père a péché, tes interprètes se sont révoltés contre moi.
28 Therefore I profaned the princes of the sanctuary, I delivered Jacob to utter destruction and Israel to reviling.	28 Alors j'ai destitué les chefs du sanctuaire, j'ai livré Jacob à l'anathème et Israël aux outrages.
