Isaiah 26

1 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: "We have a strong city; he sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks.	1 En ce jour-là, on chantera ce chant au pays de Juda: Nous avons une ville forte; pour nous protéger, ila mis mur et avant-mur.
2 Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps faith may enter in.	2 Ouvrez les portes! Qu'elle entre, la nation juste qui observe la fidélité.
3 Thou dost keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee.	3 C'est un dessein arrêté: tu assureras la paix, la paix qui t'est confiée.
4 Trust in the LORD for ever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.	4 Confiez-vous en Yahvé à jamais! Car Yahvé est un rocher, éternellement.
5 For he has brought low the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He lays it low, lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust.	5 C'est lui qui a précipité les habitants des hauteurs, la cité élevée; il l'abaisse, il l'abaisse jusqu'à terre, illui fait mordre la poussière.
6 The foot tramples it, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy."	6 Elle sera foulée aux pieds, par les pieds du malheureux, par les pas du faible.
7 The way of the righteous is level; thou dost make smooth the path of the righteous.	7 Le sentier du juste, c'est la droiture, tu aplanis la droite trace du juste.
8 In the path of thy judgments, O LORD, we wait for thee; thy memorial name is the desire of our soul.	8 Oui, dans le sentier de tes jugements, nous t'attendions, Yahvé, à ton nom et à ta mémoire va le désirde l'âme.
9 My soul yearns for thee in the night, my spirit within me earnestly seeks thee. For when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.	9 Mon âme t'a désiré pendant la nuit, oui, au plus profond de moi, mon esprit te cherche, car lorsque turends tes jugements pour la terre, les habitants du monde apprennent la justice.
10 If favor is shown to the wicked, he does not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness he deals perversely and does not see the majesty of the LORD.	10 Si l'on fait grâce au méchant sans qu'il apprenne la justice, au pays de la droiture il fait le mal, sansvoir la majesté de Yahvé.
11 O LORD, thy hand is lifted up, but they see it not. Let them see thy zeal for thy people, and be ashamed. Let the fire for thy adversaries consume them.	11 Yahvé, ta main est levée et ils ne voient pas! Ils verront, pleins de confusion, ton amour jaloux pource peuple, oui, le feu préparé pour tes ennemis les dévorera.
12 O LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us, thou hast wrought for us all our works.	12 Yahvé, tu nous assures la paix, et même toutes nos oeuvres, tu les accomplis pour nous.
13 O LORD our God, other lords besides thee have ruled over us, but thy name alone we acknowledge.	13 Yahvé notre Dieu, d'autres maîtres que toi ont dominé sur nous, mais, attachés à toi seul, nousinvoquons ton nom.
14 They are dead, they will not live; they are shades, they will not arise; to that end thou hast visited them with destruction and wiped out all remembrance of them.	14 Les morts ne revivront pas, les ombres ne se relèveront pas, car tu les as visités, exterminés, tu asdétruit jusqu'à leur souvenir.
15 But thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation; thou art glorified; thou hast enlarged all the borders of the land.	15 Tu as fait de nous une nation, Yahvé, tu as fait de nous une nation et tu as été glorifié. Tu as faitreculer les limites du pays.
16 O LORD, in distress they sought thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.	16 Yahvé, dans la détresse ils t'ont cherché, ils se répandirent en prière car ton châtiment était sur eux.
17 Like a woman with child, who writhes and cries out in her pangs, when she is near her time, so were we because of thee, O LORD;	17 Comme la femme enceinte à l'heure de l'enfantement souffre et crie dans ses douleurs, ainsi étions-nous devant ta face, Yahvé.
18 we were with child, we writhed, we have as it were brought forth wind. We have wrought no deliverance in the earth, and the inhabitants of the world have not fallen.	18 Nous avons conçu, nous avons souffert, mais c'était pour enfanter du vent: nous n'avons pas donné lesalut à la terre, il ne naît pas d'habitants au monde.
19 Thy dead shall live, their bodies shall rise. O dwellers in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For thy dew is a dew of light, and on the land of the shades thou wilt let it fall.	19 Tes morts revivront, tes cadavres ressusciteront. Réveillez-vous et chantez, vous qui habitez lapoussière, car ta rosée est une rosée lumineuse, et le pays va enfanter des ombres.
20 Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the wrath is past.	20 Va, mon peuple, entre dans tes chambres, ferme tes portes sur toi; cache-toi un tout petit instant,jusqu'à ce qu'ait passé la fureur.
21 For behold, the LORD is coming forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity, and the earth will disclose the blood shed upon her, and will no more cover her slain.	21 Car voici Yahvé qui sort de sa demeure pour châtier la faute des habitants de la terre; et la terredévoilera son sang, elle cessera de recouvrir ses cadavres.
