Proverbs 3

1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;	1 Figlio mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento e il tuo cuore custodisca i miei precetti,
2 for length of days and years of life and abundant welfare will they give you.	2 perché con la lunghezza dei giorni e degli anni di vita ti procurano prosperità.
3 Let not loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.	3 Amore e fedeltà non ti abbandonino! Légali intorno al tuo collo, scrivili sopra la tavola del tuo cuore.
4 So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man.	4 Troverai grazia e buona fortuna agli occhi di Dio e dell'uomo.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.	5 Confida nel Signore con tutto il cuore e non ti appoggiare sulla tua intelligenza.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.	6 Tienlo presente in tutte le tue vie ed egli raddrizzerà i tuoi sentieri.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.	7 Non essere saggio ai tuoi occhi! Temi il Signore e fuggi dal male!
8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.	8 Sarà medicina al tuo corpo, vigore alle tue ossa.
9 Honor the LORD with your substance and with the first fruits of all your produce;	9 Onora il Signore con i tuoi beni e con le primizie di tutti i tuoi averi.
10 then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.	10 I tuoi granai saranno pieni di frumento, i tuoi torchi traboccheranno di mosto.
11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline or be weary of his reproof,	11 Non disprezzar la disciplina del Signore e al suo rimprovero non metterti contro,
12 for the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.	12 perché rimprovera quello che ama, come un padre il figlio di cui si compiace.
13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gets understanding,	13 Beato l'uomo che ha trovato sapienza, l'uomo che ha incontrato intelligenza.
14 for the gain from it is better than gain from silver and its profit better than gold.	14 Il suo guadagno è migliore del guadagno d'argento e migliore dell'oro è il suo frutto.
15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.	15 E' più preziosa delle perle e quanto puoi desiderare non l'eguaglia.
16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.	16 Lunghezza di giorni è nella sua destra, nella sua sinistra ricchezza e onore.

20 by his knowledge the deeps broke forth, and the clouds drop down the dew.	20 Per la sua scienza si sono aperti gli abissi e le nubi hanno stillato rugiada.
21 My son, keep sound wisdom and discretion; let them not escape from your sight,	21 Figlio mio, non partano dai tuoi occhi prudenza e accortezza, ma custodiscile.
22 and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck.	22 Saranno vita per l'anima tua, ornamento per il tuo collo.
23 Then you will walk on your way securely and your foot will not stumble.	23 Allora percorrerai sicuro la tua strada e il tuo piede non vacillerà.
24 If you sit down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.	24 Quando ti coricherai non avrai paura. Ti coricherai e sarà saporito il tuo sonno.
25 Do not be afraid of sudden panic, or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes;	25 Non temere il terrore improvviso né la tempesta degli empi quando si avvicina;
26 for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.	26 perché il Signore sarà il tuo baluardo, proteggerà dal laccio il tuo piede.
27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.	27 Non rifiutare il bene a chi lo chiede, quando è in potere della tua mano il farlo.
28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it"--when you have it with you.	28 Non dire al tuo prossimo: "Vai e ritorna! Domani te lo darò", quando ce l'hai.
29 Do not plan evil against your neighbor who dwells trustingly beside you.	29 Non progettare contro il tuo prossimo il male, quando lui si trova sicuro con te.
30 Do not contend with a man for no reason, when he has done you no harm.	30 Non litigar con un altro senza motivo, se non ti ha fatto del male.
31 Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways;	31 Non invidiare un uomo violento e non scegliere alcuna delle sue vie.
32 for the perverse man is an abomination to the LORD, but the upright are in his confidence.	32 Perché è abominio del Signore il perverso, ma conversa con gli uomini retti.
33 The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the abode of the righteous.	33 Maledizione del Signore sulla casa dell'empio, mentre benedice la dimora dei giusti.
34 Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he shows favor.	34 Agli insolenti risponde con ira, ai poveri invece dona la grazia.
35 The wise will inherit honor, but fools get disgrace.	35 Gloria erediteranno i sapienti, gli stolti invece possederanno ignominia.
