Psalms 2

1 Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain?	1 Pourquoi ces nations qui remuent, ces peuples qui murmurent en vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and his anointed, saying,	2 Des rois de la terre s'insurgent, des princes conspirent contre Yahvé et contre son Messie:
3 "Let us burst their bonds asunder, and cast their cords from us."	3 "Faisons sauter leurs entraves, débarrassons-nous de leurs liens! "
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the LORD has them in derision.	4 Celui qui siège dans les cieux s'en amuse, Yahvé les tourne en dérision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,	5 Puis dans sa colère il leur parle, dans sa fureur il les épouvante:
6 "I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill."	6 "C'est moi qui ai sacré mon roi sur Sion, ma montagne sainte."
7 I will tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my son, today I have begotten you.	7 J'énoncerai le décret de Yahvé: Il m'a dit: "Tu es mon fils, moi, aujourd'hui, je t'ai engendré.
8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.	8 Demande, et je te donne les nations pour héritage, pour domaine les extrémités de la terre;
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."	9 tu les briseras avec un sceptre de fer, comme vases de potier tu les casseras."
10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.	10 Et maintenant, rois, comprenez, corrigez-vous, juges de la terre!
11 Serve the LORD with fear, with trembling	11 Servez Yahvé avec crainte,
12 kiss his feet, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way; for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.	12 baisez ses pieds avec tremblement; qu'il se fâche, vous vous perdez en chemin: d'un coup flambe sacolère. Heureux qui s'abrite en lui!
