Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Wilt thou forget me for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?1 For the leader. A psalm of David.
How long must I bear pain in my soul, and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?2 How long, LORD? Will you utterly forget me? How long will you hide your face from me?
Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;3 How long must I carry sorrow in my soul, grief in my heart day after day? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed over him"; lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.4 Look upon me, answer me, LORD, my God! Give light to my eyes lest I sleep in death,
But I have trusted in thy steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.5 Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed," lest my foes rejoice at my downfall.
I will sing to the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me.6 I trust in your faithfulness. Grant my heart joy in your help, That I may sing of the LORD, "How good our God has been to me!"
