1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, let Israel now say--	1 Canto delle ascensioni. Di David. Se Jahvè non fosse stato per noi, dica Israele!
2 if it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us,	2 Se Jahvè non fosse stato iper noi quando insorse contro di noi la gente...
3 then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us;	3 Allora ci avrebbero sbranati vivi, quando arse la loro ira contro di noi.
4 then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;	4 Allora le acque ci avrebbero travolto, un torrente ci avrebbe sommerso.
5 then over us would have gone the raging waters.	5 Allora ci avrebbero sommerso le acque rigonfie!
6 Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth!	6 Benedetto Jahvè che non ci diede in strazio ai loro denti!
7 We have escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!	7 La nostra vita, come uccello, fu scampata dal laccio degli uccellatori. Il laccio si spezzò e noi fummo scampati!
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.	8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome di Jahvè, creatore dei cieli e della terra.
